All we need is someone implying they heard about a hardware announcement next week and we'll have a full fucking gamut

I know this is a direct speculation thread but goodness people chill out about the direct itself. A ton of games came out today.

Like the great hero of our times, The Rock, said: "Enjoy your gaming".

I hope not to see this behavior come fall for the other direct.....

Well that’s what happened when Sony employees leaked the direct date. Alanah Pearce form Santa Monica and NateDrake from Uncharted

I'm going with a mini. They're going to date games like Mario+Rabbids, Bayo 3, Outer Wilds, etc. Last big thing will be MP1 remaster. That would be fine by me--they simply just don't need a general.
I'm honestly tired of caring about what Nintendo "needs."

Legit, I want a General Direct cause it's fucking fun, is a good celebration time for the community, and helps distract from our shitty fucking world for 30-40 minutes. You don't get that with a shadow-dropped Mini that isn't livestreamed, and has nothing but release date announcements and another Remaster tease. You can't make a bingo thread cause it's a Mini, you can't really make a good prediction thread because the most you'll see is a Remaster announcement, and even if you could do both of those things... it's shadowdropped, so you still can't.

It's like... sure, it's still "Christmas." You're still getting presents. But you couldn't 'shake the box' to guess what they might be, they weren't wrapped, you were given them all at once, and your family wasn't even there to be happy with you as you open them. Oh, and you didn't even get that cool Lego set you asked for, because your parents decided that it was "better for their parental needs," to arbitrarily delay you getting that sick Lego set until "the time is right."

I know that sounds entitled, and it definitely is, but in the current world climate I honestly couldn't give less of a damn about whether it's 'OK' or not to be disappointed about what a billion-dollar corporation decides it "needs," with its marketing.

In the very astronomically slim chance that the Mini Direct is just a new hardware reveal, I'd honestly take that over a regular Direct.

Have we talked about the fact that Minion 2 is opening July 1 and there was speculation that it could carry the Mario movie trailer? Nintendo could have an event to premiere it before Minions 2 opens.

It seemed a bit unlikely to me since the Mario movie is still 9 months away, but who even knows anymore.

Sad reacts only
I already posted my predictions for a Mini

-Metroid Prime Remaster
-WWHD
-Style Savvy
-Persona
-Tactics Ogre
-Mario Strikers dlc
-Bayonetta trailer and release date
-Mario Kart dlc
-Mario + Rabbids trailer and release date
I would be MORE than fine with this. Best Mini of all time incoming.
We went from a General Direct demoted down to a Private Direct
Can't wait for the Bakugan reveal Dishonorably Discharged Direct

Oh wow today is FUN

Look, all I really need to see in any Direct - General, Mini, whatever - is Metroid Prime HD. Nearly the entire rest of my gaming year is already spoken for. I still need to beat Elden Ring, of all things.

Don't tell Doug Bowser I told you this, but a Fire Emblem Direct is happening next week. I've got your leeks right here:

  • Start with Fire Emblem Echoes: Chronicles of the Holy War; remake of FE4 due out next year
  • Announcement of Fire Emblem: Three Houses - More Edelgard Edition; a re-release with a new expanded campaign for Edelgard's route in Three Houses. And ONLY Edelgard's route
  • The Fire Emblem: Three Houses Expansion Pass is being added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass
  • New heroes from Three Hopes are coming to Fire Emblem Heroes...but we're starting with alts for the three lords because of course
  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Expansion Pass announced, $25 with content through the end of the year
  • Ends with announcement of the leaked Fire Emblem that confirms the toothpaste lord is real; you can indeed summon past lords as part of in-game plot, shows off Marth, Chrom, and Edelgard because everyone loves her

How would you all react if it's a new hardware reveal instead of a Direct?
Positively. I really want that Switch Pro/2 lol

As for the Direct. It really doesn't take much to set everyone off I see. Whatever kind of Direct it is, as long as cool games are announced/shown, I'm good with it.

I agree for General/Mini, but at this point I don't see the reason for a Partner Showcase, so that would be disappointing.

Tom's been very accurate in other circles I've been a part of, but I've never seen him report or speak on anything Nintendo related. I don't think that's something he's very big in, so I still maintain my cautious optimism for a sweet sweet General.

Well fucking said. I'm with you 100%.

It's the same kind of thing that rubs me so raw when people only want to talk in terms of "sales" for a corporation they have no stake in. Consumer drones are the worst ( ...he says, posting on a Nintendo fan forum... )

How would you all react if it's a new hardware reveal instead of a Direct?

I'm looking for a good excuse to spend some money on things I like as the OLED didn't do it for me but I'm really excited for some new Nintendo hardware after I sold both my PS5 and Steam Deck.

Nate keeps mentioning the branding. I bet its a tease for the 1-2 sequel. they will introduce a cow branding mini game.

Honestly same. I'm still riding the high from that so much that I'm not bothered too much right now. No matter what, we're within a few short weeks of Xenoblade previews and the game itself. And it'll easily fill my time for most of the summer.
more or less how I feel

plus it's gonna take me weeks to get around to watching analysis videos people made of that direct anyways

honestly i'd be satisfied with just like..... a twitter drop of the Bayonetta release date at this point

If it's a Mini - someone earlier mentioned that it would be at 9am est, but since we're in summer time shouldn't it be one hour later?

To summarize for people who haven't been paying attention to this thread:
  • Nate is anticipating he'll have to edit his predictions video, but still stands pat on there being a direct
  • Tom Henderson says no direct, but some form of news
  • NLG has another game in development that could release relatively soon
Did I miss anything?
