I’ll try to skip this because last time they spoiled so much, but maybe this time they just show a battle tutorial and some basic lore tidbits…and more music!

If someone that’s gonna watch this no matter what could please give us a “this is safe to watch“ or “avoid it at all costs!” advise on a spoiler-free thread, it could be amazing and we’d love you so much!

It's almost a sure thing we're getting a new spoilery trailer, but I could post time stamps in the video that focus on certain mechanics if anyone wants that after it airs.

Unrelated, but cross-posting from the spoiler thread (not spoilery itself, don't worry):
I've seen some concerns that the direct could just be a recap of what's been tweeted and in the blogs. To get a better idea of what we could expect, I made a list of what new information was in the november 2017 direct for Xenoblade 2 that wasn't tweeted beforehand (there had been about two months worth of weekday tweets by this point) or in a previous direct:

  • The ability to switch between Pyra and Mythra mid-combat to give Rex a fourth blade
  • Aux Cores, Core Chips, and Accessories (we had seen these drop from enemies but didn't know the specifics of how they worked or that there would only be two equip slots per character before the november direct)
  • Core chips changing weapon appearance
  • Driver and Blade affinity charts (Takahashi said each blade had their own skill tree in an interview at E3 but we hadn't seen it in game before this, nothing was known about drivers having skill trees before)
  • Zenoba, Wulfric, Godfrey, and Herald were first shown
  • Tiger, Tiger and how Poppi wouldn't be upgraded like other Blades
  • Field Skills
  • Pouch Items and their effects (we had seen lots of shops with different item symbols before but didn't know how the items would work)
  • Zeke was first shown to be playable (though it was obvious from the key art)
  • The idea of classes and your class being defined by how many blades of a specific role you equip (though this was speculated to be a thing since the gamescom footage)
  • Heart-to-Hearts
  • Merc Missions
  • Salvaging and Trading Posts
  • Fusion Combos (you could see them happen in previous footage but they weren't officially discussed until this direct)
  • Expansion Pass reveal promising new items, new quests, a new rare blade (not a typo on my part, it is singular in the direct), challenge battle mode, and a new story campaign

Gonna have to find the XC2 one after work. I’m curious just how much they showed

Do you remember what they spoiled with xb2? Feel free to use spoiler tags. I nrst the game years ago too. I might skip watching the direct if it's really spoiler heavy (20 minutes is a lot)

edit: nvm someone posted it already. I guess it's not that bad. Mechanics and some playable characters would be spoiled.

I skipped that Direct for Xenoblade 2 as well back then, and I'm glad I did. I knew Zeke was playable from key art, but not Morag for example. And I had no idea about Pyra and Mythra and their relation (though it got spoiled for me later on), I also didn't know how Poppi worked and never saw any Blade besides the main story ones.

It made everything a better experience for me, but that's just me personally. I find the tiniest of things a spoiler, and I love going into a game completely blind and discovering how much I love it. It's a double edged blade though, since it's possible I could end up with something I don't like. But with Monolith, I have faith I'll like everything they'll throw at me.

Excited for this! I’m having trouble deciding which JRPG to go with this summer, so more info will be welcome. The first look definitely hooked me

They also showed the cutscene in the sunken ship where Jin
stabbed Rex
or the exact point where Mythra appeared first and other things that would be better and more impactful if you discover while playing.

Morag actually wasn't shown to be playable in that direct or any official pre-release material. The thing that spoiled Morag was the IGN review.

But yea, I don't blame anyone for wanting to sit that direct or this one out. Personally, I'm good with what we know about the story right now and don't really want to know more before playing it but I do really want to see more about classes, equipment, and a few other game mechanics so I'll watch anyway. Part of the prerelease hype of a new RPG for me is planning out builds ahead of time.

I didn't know that, that's strange though. Morag joins before Zeke, so I don't get why they'd spoil Zeke but not Morag. Or just don't spoil any party members.

For this game I've only watched the 2 trailers, which is already way more than I've wanted to see. I wish I didn't know about the party members, Ouroboros and the 2 masked characters. I hope I can avoid anything Xenoblade 3 related until I get the game for myself lol.

I feel like part of the reason they went ahead and revealed Zeke was to dispel concerns that there weren't any adult party members but they wanted people to think Morag was a villain I guess so Zeke fit the bill. It is odd they picked him and Pandoria for the key art instead of Tora and Poppi.

It's easier to guess that a silly dude will join a party. But Morag? hard to tell.
True, but that isn't always a given or visible from art. Way before he joins, there is no real hint that he's going to join you at some point.

I guess you're right. Morag was an enemy you face quite often until a certain point in the game. Heck, they could have thrown Vandham there to show off an adult party member, but that would probably cause people to riot because you-know-why.

With Tora and Poppi, I guess people really hate Nopon huh? He deserves way better.

I get that in theory but I don't know how you can scream "future party member" louder than Zeke

Oh I agree, I would have expected him to join even if I didn't know beforehand. Just saying that it's not always a given, despite his characteristics and tropes in similar media.

Had no idea what to expect when I dated peek my head in here.

But now I am googling Yoinky Sploinky.

This uh..... Yeah, yup, this is a win.

Could also just be at one point in development Zeke was the 3rd character to join the party and the key art reflects that. When the game finally released things had changed to make Zeke the final playable character and they just left the key art alone.

Do I watch this or do I not? I want to see more, but twenty minutes seems like enough time to spoil quite a bit of the game. The struggle is real.

I'm at a work event during this direct, since I tuned out from the twitter posts so I will probably watch it when I get home. I assume it will be a round up off all the info available until now. I also remember the Xeno2 direct being light on spoilers so it should be safe

I'm definitely watching even though I've already pre-ordered. I watched the XC2 Direct and all the Treehouse and don't remember bring spoiled on anything during my play through.

Perhaps in hindsight, there may well have been spoilers but they didn't register with me without the full context.

Hyped!!

Yep this is gonna be a good start of the vacation, last year I got on vacation the same day as the E3 direct
This year, I still have 4 hours to work tomorrow but basically, my vacation start at a Nintendo direct :>

Me watching the anti Xenoblade/Fire Emblem/JRPG Nintendo crowd malding on Twitter

I chuckled, way too much perhaps.
And to be fair, that crowd is big here on Fami to :p

This is such a dilemma, do I watch the direct or not lmao. I'm even. Avoiding Twitter updates from the Japanese marketing but my curiosity makes me want to watch the final story trailer but I have no doubt it will have heavy spoilers.

I have no doubt everyone will talk and share about Pyra and Mythra if they get shown lol.

Unrelated, but cross-posting from the spoiler thread (not spoilery itself, don't worry):

Oh wow they really showed the switching between Pyra/Mythra in that trailer?
I got into the series without ANY prior knowledge of the game and was so shooketh when Mythra made her entry!
I feel like knowing that would have been a pretty big spoiler!

This is almost making me contemplate skipping this new XB3 direct (but who am I kidding, I'm too curious for my own good so I'll definitely watch it xD)

30 minutes left! (I think?)

Been looking forward to this this all morning, I'm prepared !!

Sorry folks. F this game. F this weeb shit. And most of all f Nintendo...is what I would say if I were an asshole who has lost the plot

Wouldn't mind a demo. Was really disappointed in Xenobalde 2. The gameplay was neat, but the story was way poorer, and the constant anime jokes didn't help it. Feel like I'd need to actually play it to understand whether it's for me

I'd love a demo but I'm a bit worried about datamined spoilers being out in the wild even earlier.

I argue the story in Xenoblade 2 was much better then Xenoblade 1.

Since I fear there will be spoilers everywhere but I can’t help it, I’ll stream the Japanese edition of the Direct (right now they‘re running ads) so I can’t understand a thing (almost), and I’ll try not looking when a cutscene starts lol :p

why they dont put background music, they could put some songs from XC1/XC2 while we wait if they dont want to spoil XC3 music yet

20 minutes plenty of time to deliver the good things. Namely showing off exploration and traversal.

Sure, it's a matter of opinion, and it's not like I'm the biggest fan of Xenoblade 1's story, but once funny anime reactions and boob humor entered the equasion, it became cringeworthy for me. Finished the game, skipped through the cutscenes.

A bit weird there are maybe +14 hours of cutscenes but you skip everything because two or three minutes of “anime cringe”… sigh…to each its own I suppose.

Anyway, on topic, maybe we can make a thread without spoilers for XC3 after this direct? I want to keep discussing the game but I won’t watch anything else until I play the actual game…
