Persona 5 skipping Switch would be a bummer. I was only able to finish 3 and 4 because of them being on portable devices.
I remember Atlus saying Soul Hackers 2 couldn't come on Switch because of lack of power but at the same time, nothing I have seen seem super demanding. I wonder if it will be the same weird reason given for P5.
Anyway it is not like Switch will lack new games and I am excited to see the new FE game, hopefully with the same character designer as Echoes.

Random thought, but is Persona the biggest series with the most ignored original entries? Lol. I know the first two games aren’t particularly good but I can’t think of another video game franchise where it’s almost universally agreed upon that the series really “started” with the third entry. Near literally no one even acknowledges the first two games.
Street Fighter with Street Fight I is another big case of the original entry being ignored and acting like SF started with II

They didn't actually say this. Someone made it up out of spite.

Soul Hackers 2 isn't coming to Switch because why would you release an SMT spin-off on a console that has gotten a new SMT recently. It's bad business.

Persona is an SMT spin-off as well, at the end of the day. Again, bad business.

Xbox gets the Personas and SH2. I guess that's super bad business. They'd better pack up.

(I understand that you're joking. I guess?)

Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

  • Upcoming Fire Emblem is a new game, not a remake. Brand new story.
  • Collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (division of Koei Tecmo Holdings).
  • Gust heavily assisted with the visuals / graphics. Graphics are an improvement over "Three Houses".
  • Originally intended as an anniversary game to celebrate FE's 30th anniversary. The game has been finished for over a year.
  • Main character (main lord) has strange red and blue hair. His mother is a dragon.
  • New "Emblems" gimmick allows players to summon "FE characters from the past" for your squad.

I don't plan to share any more details about this game.

Many months ago, @NateDrake teased about "red and blue".
Everything Nate has teased about the upcoming Fire Emblem game has been accurate.
Please be kind to Nate. His information is good, and he cares about the Nintendo fan community.
Omg, how the hell did I miss this???

Thank you both Emily and Nate!

If it's finished, it's 100% getting announced in 2 weeks at the Direct since Three Hopes will be out by then and won't be overshadowed.

Holy moly...

I think it mostly has to do with the file size. Atlus doesn't want to release a physical game that requires a partial download, but also doesn't want to pay for a 32 GB cartridge that could fit Royal.
But that increase of file size between vanilla and royal was probably due to the 4K enhancements, which can just be taken out , as we have seen in other switch ports with smaller file sizes. I keep thinking that if they are saving this for a direct announcement, skipping 5 would be disappointing and would get people mad as they have just seen how the game got announced in every other platform.

I suppose we will see. It's atlus and we know how weird are they concerning platforms, but this would be their dumbest action ever.

So going back on the information kindly provided by Emily and Nate, I'm not too sure how to think about summoning past characters. FEH serves that purpose but I'm really concerned about story...Three Houses was a MASSIVE improvement in narrative, lore and world building. The last time we had a lord that had a dragon as their parent was Fates and gameplay was amazing but story...😬.

Another thing I'm concerned about is the visuals, apparently it's a massive improvement as well as the models but does it look good in handheld mode? Because as much as we all disliked Three Houses visuals, at least it was mostly native resolution in handheld mode.

Also, I'm curious about the anime cutscenes, are they done by Studio Kara (Three Houses/Echoes) or traditional 2D animation or the beautiful 3D CGI cutscenes similar to Awakening?

Recent Gust games on the Switch look amazing on handheld, I wouldn’t worry about it

About Splatoon, I am curious about Nintendo has not shown any footage of Ranked Battle.
Will there be major changes?

I think it's more of a thing of Turf War being the poster child mode of the game. They haven't shown much gameplay at all, so it's only natural the first gameplay would be turf war.

That said, I do hope for some major changes to certain modes to make them more viable for solo ranked (like clam blitz) and competitive play.

@NateDrake out of all the first party Switch games currently in development, that have been announced, leaked or teased. Which one would you say are you most excited to finally see spring forth?

Prediction: IF Switch Drake is releasing this (calendar) year, the reveal will be at the end of the month, in the Direct or a little before.
Both Switch OLED and Switch Lite were announced in early July with a September/October release date, so assuming a similiar window for the Drake, we should theoretically expect an announcement in early July. But holding a Direct at the very end of the June, showcasing games on old hardware, and then revealing their new stronger console a week or so later would be a very missed opportunity imo.
I think it's quite likely for Nintendo to push back their usual early July hardware announcement date by a week or so to coincide with the Direct, especially when it would be absolutely perfect to showcase massive titles like Xeno3, Bayo3, Pokemon SV, Mario Rabbids and (hopefully) BOTW2.

So an assumption? There could be plenty of other reasons for those dates. I just thought someone might've some more information. 🤷🏼‍♀️
It is confirmed XC3 switched from Sept to July, the reason why isn’t confirmed but when a couple of days after they make another Tweet revealing Splatoon 3 releasing in Sept (latter than expected when Nintendo says games are coming during Summer they dont drop in Sept) it makes sense to think they swapped.

I understand why people think that. It's just seems to be taken as a fact so much so that I thought additional information was out there. That's all.

The additional information out there is that the LE/SE/CE for Xenoblade 3 won't ship until September, which strongly points towards the game having originally been slated for a September release internally before having been rescheduled at the last minute.

You won't get anything more concrete than that unless Nintendo decides to come out tomorrow and flat out say it.

Xenoblade 3 was in fact officially announced with a September launch window.

If Gust is helping I'm not worried about the graphics of the next Fire Emblem but the protag and the new mechanic sound a little corny on paper. If it's the Three Houses team it should be fine but you never know.

Maybe, to me Big Bubbler and tower control seems too nasty a combination to exist. You use the bubbler on the tower and ride it without trouble.

Now that doesn't confirm anything in the slightest, but it might point to a big change up, or at least an omission or big change to tower control

  • We're still 2 weeks away
  • We already know when the Direct is, what's an announcement for?
No announcement: We have to keep posting in this stuffy old thread. Somebody crack a window at least, ffs.

Announcement: We get to post in a fresh new thread.

This article from 2020.

I dont think the 2nd source is reliable, I have never heard about it and it seems like your usual Nintendo is bringing Mother 3 to NA type of post.

The director wanting to make a sequel wasnt new in 2020 he had already said a couple of times before he wanted to make one, but I don’t think it will happen

I saw a leak that from feb 2022, that mentioned Sonic Frontiers, and Odyssey 2, and Donkey Kong, and it was titled SEGA x Nintendo E3 2022. I cannot find it, I saw it on Twitter, I cannot find it rn.

I don't think this is right, I'm afraid.

1. If you show off the upcoming games on the new hardware like you're suggesting, you are alienating your massive existing install base.

2. Point 1 is even more pertinent when you consider whatever Switch is coming next is likely to have very limited availability for a very long time. Limited due to likely huge demand off the back of Switch success, and limited due to the ongoing issues with manufacturing of parts.

If I'm Nintendo...

I look at my hardware sales. Still solid.
I look at my physical game sales. Still very solid.
I look at my digital game sales. Still growing fast.
I look at my subscription sales. Still growing steadily.

I look at the availability of components. Still a disaster zone.
I look at the PS5 and Series X rollout. Still a disaster zone.
I look at my own development studios timelines. Still all over the place.
I look at other studios. Still pretty sparse across the board.
I look at the economic situation in Japan. Oh dear.
I look at the economic situation around the world. Oh dear oh dear!

I reach my conclusion...

I really don't need new Hardware yet.

I'd love to be wrong, of course, but there is too much there to ignore. Throw on top Nintendo's Naturally cautious position, and yea, I think it's not happening.

EDIT: in fact, if there is to be new Hardware for Switch... the above all points to another budget version. Switch Lite OLED?

I don’t think new hardware is happening either, but I highly doubt anybody would feel alienated if Nintendo used Drake footage. The games would be available on both consoles, so the nicer the footage looks, the better.

Dragon lord protagonist doesn't sound any unique either and not sure how I feel about not being able to not play as a girl anymore . Male protagonist with multi coloured hair and dragon mom sounds even more Gary stuish then corrin.

I would normally agree, but I do still think we're too close to the OLED release for Nintendo to "get off the hook" so to speak!

Hello I'm new here, but I always had lurked those threads, but I was too shy to make an account cuz I'm rather insecure, what would people think about me sometimes...

Anyway
Games I really love are Pikmin (hope Pikmin 4 will soon be announced), FE, Xeno, PlatinumGames mostly, Rhythm Heaven, Ninja Gaiden & mostly rather weird stuff too.

I also love shitty movies like Megapiranha or obv. Sharknado.

I also love to write Songs.

Thank you so much, that you are such a cool community & I hope, i can fit in here.

GBA SP released in 2003 and Nintendo DS in 2004, and GBA was still having great sales in 2003/2004. GBA SP is probably the closest revision to the OLED Nintendo has made
