I feel like saying that with no knowledge of the character other than hair color or parentage is a huge reach
 
Did someone say that the protagonist can only be male? I feel like it's typical for them to show off the male version first and the female version comes later. I don't think we even knew about Female Byleth until like Spring 2019.

Definitely need to see the new FE in action, but after sleeping on it, I can say that I don't like any of the new information posted by Emily (except maybe for Gust helping out with the visuals). Even the dual hair-color sounds tacky af.

But on the other hand, I wasn't really on board with Three Houses at the beginning, but in the end, it turned out to be one of the best in the franchise.
So we'll see. Definitely eager to see the trailer.

I just said it sounds very Gary stuish and that's the opinion I'm allowed to have based on the info given. I'd like to be proven wrong but considering how a protagonist with a similar premise was written I'm allowed to be weary. Did not like corrin and I'm not looking forward to a potential Corrin 2.0

That's just my first impression tbh don't see how that's a reach. It will probably change with more info given.
 
Once again, I want to thank Emily and Nate for the amazing hints and information they provide, we honestly appreciate you guys.


Now, I have been thinking about FE all day and I'm starting to think that maybe this new mainline game is set in the continent Elibe where Binding Blade (Roy) and Blazing Blade (Lyn) are set in.

Red and blue mix hair, I can honestly think of Roy (or his descendants) since his father is Eliwood and his mother can be Ninian who is a dragon. And summoning past legendary characters such as Hector or really old mythic characters.

I'm just really curious about the summoning aspect. Apparently it's not a side thing like in Awakening/Fates but actual main mechanic. Makes me concerned on the implications on the story, can they execute it well? On paper it sounds like Fire Emblem Heroes but with a big budget and heck that dosen't sound appealing especially with the community on FE subreddit.

My excitement has changed into curiosity lol.
 
I’m a bit fed up with player-avatar, super-special overpowered units in FE. They end up competing with the faction leaders (like Chrom, Xander, Edelgard, etc) who are far more interesting characters but get overshadowed by the ludicrously strong, stoic and silent, generic JRPG player unit that everyone adores. I much preferred it when the player was just an accompanying strategist but not on the field, if they were there at all. Rather than dimension-hopping half-dragons connected to the final boss or whatever.

Still, exciting stuff, I’m always down for a new FE!

I see VGC are reporting on Emily’s post now haha

Never played a Fire Emblem as I was never a fan of the actual ‘world’ it was based around. Still, interested to see what this new one is like

True, but that is a little misleading. GBA SP was Feb 2003 and DS was November 2004 so it was close to 2 years. OLED was October 2021, so we'd be looking at July 2023. That's over a year away and would point to an announce no time soon.

And that's before you factor in covid et al.

They announced Nintendo DS existing (not the name) in Nov 03, just 9 months after release that would be for OLED this July. They could to again and reveal the new console this September

Another thing I'm curious about is who is the director? Judging from the information, it sounds like it might be Kouhei Maeda? For those who are unaware, he was the director of Awakening, Fates and currently the director (don't know if he still is) of Fire Emblem Heroes. He was also the main writer of Blazing Blade.

And I would assume the directors of Three Houses/Echoes would be working on FE4 Remake.

It's also crazy how while Sony and Microsoft are struggling to fill their release schedules with first-party material, Nintendo seems to be looking at the calendar and having a hard time finding a good empty spot for their titles because it's so crowded.

Looking at Emily's Fe dump again I wonder if we're understanding it wrong. It could be like fe awakening where the main lord/ main character is Chrom and the avatar is what we play as. Its like that in fe heroes too.

Ngl I like the idea of an avatar who isn't the " chosen one" again

I mean, we know there's a summon mechanic but Emily didn't say it was a gacha type mechanic. It might look more like Final Fantasy, especially if the past characters you can summon are considered mythological heroes or something.

I think it’s a possibility, especially since they might want to focus on Three Hopes next week. An announcement 24h prior also seems less likely if the Direct takes place on the 28th in the West as Nate suggests (because the announcement would then be on a monday, which would be highly unusual for them).

I can confirm everything she posted. I can also drop an extra bit of information--the title of the new Fire Emblem is Fire Emblem Fuck. They made it fucky.

I wasn't aware that Tactics Ogre: Reborn would be coming to PlayStation as well, but it’s for sure slated for the upcoming Direct.

Also, Emily is about one trillion times more in-the-know than I will ever be, so it’s not like my echo chamber is needed… but everything she said is exactly what I’ve heard re: Fire Emblem. lol

It amazes me how Nintendo is supposedly sitting on a bunch of "finished" games, just waiting to release them.
 
One thing I would debate about Emily comment regarding next FE.

I don’t think the game was finished over 1 years ago. Its likely finished regarding its contents but there is still testing and optimize graphics for better performance.

But yes, probably the people who worked on game design, music, etc was probably free up around 1 year ago.

I don’t know the details on that front. But I would hazard a guess that you’re right, at least to some extent.

Pretty wild if it truly is 100% finished. But obviously, whatever Emily says is probably accurate.
