I really like F!Shez, but I don't care for Arval at all. Their voice acting bothers me, it sounds like a kid doing a grown-up voice impression.

Done two levels on handheld with no performance issues yet!

Touken Ranbu musou on Switch is also running well overall from my experience. AoC definitely was more of an exception, not the rule, yes.
Yeah, Token Ranbu is pretty much locked at 30, the only reason it's not at the top it's because it has a lower enemy count on the battleflied than SW5 or FEW3H

Yeah. Arval sounds off.

But at least Shez sounds good. And thank god they speak, it’s exactly what I was hoping three houses was with their dialogue options. I was scared you pick an option and they just make a face, silently.

I have to say it's funny to see the reactions regarding the performance as it tell's me mostly people have only played HWAoC and not the rest of the warriors avaliable on switch, incluiding FEW which has the best perfomance (which makes sense as Zelda is more popular than the other warriors franchise). Considering all the games, AoC has the second worst performance on switch (it was the worst untill DW9 Empires came) but the rest of their releases have been decent and getting better optimization with the time (SW5 and this one being at the top)

Fire Emblem Warriors
Samurai Warriors 5
Persona Strikers

in terms of performances, these are imho the best ones

AoC is among the worst, performance-wise, I agree

The fact that Shez also gets fully voiced dialogue (in addition to instances where you can choose what Shez says—also fully voiced) is a very good sign for the next mainline game. Ideally, we'll get an actual normal protagonist in this game instead of yet another avatar, but at the very least in the worst case scenario we can probably expect a "Shez-style" avatar, aka an avatar with one set look for each gender but actually fully voiced with dialogue options, which should help a lot with the story and character interactions even if a singular set protagonist would still be better.

KT games in general have come a really long way since the 2017/early 2018 releases, they may be the most consistent 3rd party on delivering games that perform great on the Switch especially Gust that probably delivers the best ports in the JP industry nowadays (which is crazy to think when the first ones were horrible)
I guess it was expected with KT embracing the Switch platform and working on so many Switch only projects

Yeah the most important thing is that Omega Force finally learned to do it in house. As mentioned the first FEW is the best perfoming, but because they had the help of Team Ninja . Once they were left alone it noticed they didn't have that much experience (WO4 being rougher than the other musou games) but with that experiencie it's been uphill (with AoC being the exception because simply their engine was not ready for all the physics from BoW)

Arval sounding kind of awkward may be intentional. Just a gut-feeling.

I really like Shez and Arval as a pair. Making Shez a bit stupid was a great choice, and Arval has this blunt awkward straight man vibe that I like.

Chose the best house(BL) and I am surprised at how major the differences are.

We finally get to meet Rufus and he tried to overthrow Dimitri(he is also tied pretty clearly to Duscur). He gets the full on public execution treatment for treachery too. He also seems to really despite the kid sadly.

Also each route has to deal with a unique scenario at the start thats not the same as TH
BE: You have to stop Kronya from killing the real Monica and replacing her. Kronya thing is on all routes nvm

GD: You have to deal with a new Almyran character(not sure who he is yet)

At least this is all from my understanding

Testing the demo with alot of OC profiles, the game has alot of potencial for a new model switch without any patch. And I liking alot what is seens to be the game mechanic for this mosou. Best yet? for the moment gameplay wise it appear to be, performance wise maybe top 3 on switch.

Wow. A protagonist that talks can have so much personality who would’ve thought. Would’ve made Three Houses much better In the end lol.

Also, I like the Set up here a bit better then the original lol. Well, not the Arval thing so far, just that you’re a student rather then a teacher.

This is ok. Feels just about like how I would’ve expected it would. My problem is that I enjoy these games for 15-20 hours and then then just start to feel super repetitive. Probably not a buy for me, though I appreciate the demo.

Pretty cool that the game suggests the last used custom name you used for Byleth in the main game if you have save data. There's also some save data rewards available in the full game apparently.

Holy shit, the presentation in this game is soooo good! I love the fact the soundtrack changes between rain and thunder versions whenever going between battlefield and map.

Also, handheld mode is very decent. Stable fps and the resolution dosen't seem to be native but it's almost there, definitely cleaner than most Jrpgs in handheld mode.

Also, one thing I disliked in Three Houses was where characters were speaking in cutscenes, the background was a some crusty jpeg stretched out. But here in Three Hopes, they are actually in places and 3D too lol.

Been playing for a few hours now, and I am loving it!

I don't really notice the frame rate stuff, but I do feel the game looks pretty choppy in handheld as well as docked..

Yup, the UI is definitely 60fps and good lord, the UI and presentation is actually soooooo good. It's giving me FE 3ds vibes and I love it!

And another thing I want to praise is that having Shez and Bylthe talking and fully voice acted changes soooo much it's not even funny. No more mute protagonists, having a voice changes a lot.

So performance is good? I found AoC unplayable so was concerned about this being the same.

UI/Menus are 60fps, battles mostly 30fps but some dips here and there when so much is going on. Unfortunately there's still a lot of pop in but ultimately it's a massive improvement over AoC in terms of fps judging from the first 4 chapters.

None of that coveted Hyrule Grass here to tank the framerates.

Can’t believe they’re probably going to suck me in for my first Musou game.

Telling myself I’ll play every route, but deep down I know I’ll just play Black Eagles on loop like I did with Three Houses.

Did the prologue real quick. Bylethis is a monster, can’t believe she took out my boss that quick. Also never ever trust people wandering the edge of reality and consciousness. I’d imagine since a student has less impact than a teacher the divergence of story’s won’t get stronger till post time skip

Performance is still not where I wish it were in single player, but it’s acceptable (AoC often was not). There’s a lot going on with the various systems, but the first few tutorial/prologue missions are still pretty easy on Hard difficulty — I wonder how much class/gear/ability levels will matter later.

In any case, the demo confirmed Three Heroes is a buy for me. I might want to finish all houses in Three Houses first though.

3 hours in and I only just finished the prologue. Considering it lets you play up to chapter 4 and there are 3 routes, this is a massive demo.

I’m also really enjoying it. Both the story (I’m playing Azure Gleam) and the gameplay. There’s a lot of stuff in this game that makes it more strategic that the all-out-action focused Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Like how units other than the ones you control actually do stuff or the focus on capturing strongholds.

[Edit] Okay so the prologue counts as the first 3 chapters. Still pretty beefy though.

So, hey, this game is gorgeous, but I found myself just mashing Y and occasionally X, and doing very little else, so I know this game isn't for me. Glad I gave it a try though!

So -- why did this have to come without a framerate cap? At least give me the option to lock it at 30 fps, ffs. 60 fps UI and menues is nice and all, but not at the cost of erratic frametimes when fighting.

So did everyone else get
Jeritza
as the faculty in charge of their house, or does it change depending on choices?

Finally Played a couple of hours and it's really good,. There is a lot to unpack here as the demo is very complete, but overall is a great package

- Presentation wise: it definitely looks better than FE3H (for better or worse if you like or don't the character design) and the audio and having a voiced MC is always great. Also there are a lot of option to customize the experience like no waiting for lvl ups, presentations, tutorials. Also congrats for make the musou attacks very quick (coming from touken ranbu where they take like 10 seconds to do it lol)

- Battle system: I like it a lot, having the unique actions of the characters helps them to flesh thme out even if the movesets are shared. Also the special attacks and unit pairing (which returns from FEW) helps a lot to continue the combos swapping during the recovery time of the heavy attacks. Saddly there is no dash cancel (yet, I don't know if it will be an ability).

Also the GOOD Ai returns from FEW where your units actually do stuff (looking at you HW) and commanding them does feel useful

- TESTING MOVESETS IS BACK! The last time this option was avaliable was in WO4. Considering the combination of unique abilities and classes it makes sense it's back here which is great to test crazy combos (hope KT add it to other games , it's not even avaliable in the mainline musou dammit)

- Regarding perfomance: Overall is great. while its not locked to 30 fps, its stable enough. Overall, even with all the effects like the flower petals, thunderbolts or fire I've only seen slowdown on the more flashy musou attacks. Also loading times are very good here (I guess they do some preloading during the base). For me I would put it in the great perfomance considering the quantity of enemies they manage to show on screen.

So right now my musou perfomance level on switch is:

God Tier Perfomance: FEW
Great Perfomance: SW5, TRW, P5S, OPPW3, FEW3H
Good Perfomance: HW, DW8
Avarage Permonace: OPPW4
Below Avarage: WO4
Low Perfomance: HWAoC
Why port it perfomance: DW9E

(Note that all of this is docked, I rarely play musou in portable mode)

Hm not sure on the gameplay here. Despite the better performance, it feels less...smooth? Than Age of Calamity. Basically the movesets don't feel like they flow as well. The more classical Musou perspective may play into that though for me, since Age of Calamity was the only game in the genre I've played.

Also not super sure about how it rushes the pre-timeskip so much. They're really assuming you've played Three Houses since there's basically no explanation for anything that's going on at any point. I guess the game is meant to take place in this mid-timeskip era so everything else is just setup, but it's still a bit weird to me honestly. I liked Three Houses initial slower pace.

That being said, the game is pretty fun still. Enjoying the story (went Blue Lions). Shez and especially Arval are great. But as it stands the demo's making me lean towards Sunbreak as my June title instead of this.

Is the bolded confirmed? I was still confused about the time setup of this spinoff

Going off the trailers mostly, but the game's advertising and all focuses on a period in the middle of when the timeskip happens in Three Houses. That being said, the initial setup is pretty different from that game so it's not quite as clear cut as that

The game starts at the beginning of Three Houses, diverges basically immediately and drastically from the plot of that game, and the Prologue chapters take you to sometime during that year. Then a 2-year timeskip happens where presumably the rest of the game will take place

mm...good to know, thanks!

I don’t like musous, but I’m downloading the demo. I want to be sure if this game has something for me in it or not.
Normally I would just skip it without trying it but it’s a shame because I love FETH…

I feel the game is about
a retelling of Three Houses when Shez survives and meets the Lords instead of Byleth. In the Three Houses timeline he was killed by Byleth
and looking at the current story because
Byleth doesn't become a professor, Jeritza is able to become one. Which was needed to save Monica from TWSITD. Meaning the whole of Remire Village doesn't happen I guess

Haven't finished the demo yet so part of this is also speculation :)

Anyway, the game has exceeded my expectations for now and I am def getting it including the Collectors Edition. I like Shez (Add Shez to Smash Bros pls.) also more than Byleth but perhaps that is because of the fact they have more personality. Byleth speaking in this game is also amazing. I hope they do a late update for FE3H with some characters to add to that game as well (probably not) :p.

Last thing: the music is amazing.

I got a question, how do you remove the stuff at that's on the left of the screen?

Hmmm I need to play more of the demo, but I think I might wind up buying this... maybe wait until it goes on sale since like all other musous I've tried I don't really like the core gameplay. The writing has been good tho, and I'm liking the new characters. But the demo is making me want to go back to playing Three Houses, which I do not have time for!
