Dang y’all must sleepin or workin on this Tuesday morning huh? You should try being like me, sitting at home with covid, that way you could post all day and I can stay entertained!

side note, thank goodness I’m vaxxed and boosted. The virus has basically just been an annoying cold for me, and it only lasted a few days. I feel all better now, I just have to wait a few more days for quarantine purposes. Get vaxxed, folks!
Our office (that I remote into) is still without power since Saturday’s storm so I can’t even work if I tried. And I only really post here while I’m working hahah

Oh cool, DekuDeals has let me know that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond is on sale for the first time ever in Canada.

Instead of regular price $79.99, it's $63.18 at Toys R Us only, a paltry 20% off 🙃

There's some Better Cal Saul fans on here, right? Because uhhh

WHAT THE FUCK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I was coming to ask if anyone else watched saul lol

incredible episode
I think I'm a Wiimote because I'm fucking shook

I suspected that Howard wouldn't make it out but the way this episode just absolutely ruined him before unceremoniously offing him was just too brutal. Guy did not deserve that at all. Fuuuuuuck.

Now we've got a 6 week wait...

more like Better Call Sus

idk why you’d call me tho because I have zero working knowledge of the Better Call Saul cinematic universe

Feel better soon, friend!

I'm still shaken by that episode honestly.
Howard's death is the most unjust in the entire show, and one of the most rattling in the entire BrBa universe. Never did I think I'd see Tony Dalton and Patrick Fabian share a scene. And now all of those people involved with Sandpiper's last memory of poor Howard will be the image of him as a drugged-up, paranoid asshole.

Wow all I had to do was get sick with COVID and Togashi comes out with new HxH chapters

What else do I need to sacrifice, Togashi?! What else?

I’m working on a kit today, anybody have a Fire Emblem 3 houses story playthrough they’d recommend that I could listen to to prep for 3 hopes?
Live A Live hype continues

Can’t wait to hear the Daioh theme in English!

Started getting ads for that game where you pull out rods to move water, lava and gold and it says if you figure it out you have a high IQ.

Thanks everyone! I think I did good, now I'll wait for the results, the other candidates are good too so it's up to the universe, but I did my part \o/

Ok, not sure we have many other mecha fans on here to get this joke but I found it hilarious

Its the beginning of Gundam but with Ryoma and the Getter instead of Amuro and the Gundam

Rewatching the VGDunkey Mario reviews and it always makes me emotional and wanting to replay those games

Please, Nintendo, release Odyssey 2. I'd even trade BOTW 2 for it

My favorite animal passed away suddenly the Monday before this came out. I will always remember the emotions I felt playing this game that following weekend.

Feels like everyone is getting COVID now. Probably because most people are treating it like it's over.

Sigh.
Can confirm that people don’t care anymore. I’ve been as careful as ever (wearing masks, keeping my distance, disinfecting stuff, etc.) and yet still caught something recently (but apparently not covid? Already did a home test and it came out negative). People are out and about like nothing is going on. It’s fucking annoying, but what can you do. People gonna people.

Hope people didn’t stack for the next decade!

Thanks for the reminder to turn off auto renew for PS Plus.

Man, I’m usually pretty platform agnostic and I usually buy every console, but I don’t have a PS5 yet and almost every choice Sony is making these days makes me just not want one at all. Between Jim Ryan peeing his pants about saying literally anything to defend reproductive rights, their absolute greed regarding getting subscription money from people by hook or by crook (this shit definitely leans “crook”) and just every business decision they’ve been making lately (paid next gen upgrades, the GT7 micro transaction debacle, PS1 games being PAL versions????) it’s frankly pretty embarrassing.

Look, I won’t mince words: On the whole, Sony’s first party/exclusive output doesn’t do anything for me. They shut down Japan Studio. Gran Turismo seems like a mess (I like driving games a lot). And most importantly: Yakuza games are no longer exclusive to Playstation, being simultaneously released on Xbox. Like A Dragon’s next gen version being exclusive to Series X at launch guaranteed I bought a Series X at launch.

Originally my stance was “I’ll get a PS5 eventually, maybe when PSVR2 is out.” Now it’s “I think I’m okay just not having one.”

I don’t say all of this to say Sony is doomed or whatever. Clearly they’re doing just fine. And frankly I don’t care to console war or anything. I’m frankly not the biggest fan of Xbox’s first party output either (I thought Halo Infinite was really boring. I do really love Forza Motorsport though)

But man: I have active disinterest in buying the Sony video game box or engaging with the PlayStation brand in literally any way. Their values and direction just do not line up at all with what I want out of games as a medium.

Now that I’ve beaten Kirby 64 100% I have to beg endlessly for something else from Nintendo.

I choose a new Rhythm Heaven.

It's certainly not worth buying a PS5 for, and the whole economy of the game is poorly balanced, but it's a great driving game regardless. Probably the best I've played since Motorsport 7... so it's a decent appetizer to the main course which will be Motorsport 8.

But I think you're absolutely right in your message, though. I bought a PS5 day one, hoping for an influx or great japanese games that just never came. And the best exclusivity on the console is still Astro's Playroom. A fantastic game, but clearly a type of game that Sony doesn't want to make anymore – I really do hope that Nicolas Doucet's team will not be relegated to only making VR games this gen. The system is good, but Sony's editorial choices are pretty poor to my taste.

Yakuza still releases first on PS4 at least in Japan/Asia where it still releases first, while this may change in the future (I expect at least PC day 1 for Asia) it's still too early to decide it especially if Sony money gets involved like we have seen recently with almost all the publishers Sony has good relationships with and Sony getting back Yakuza is something that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Also I just watched The Last Jedi for the first time since i first saw it at release and it’s actually really good.

Felt disappointed coming out of the cinema but a rewatch without any expectations was a whole lot better. Definitely the best of the sequels.

Imagine if people decided that hardly anyone has ever actually died in a car wreck and that the statistics were all doctored by deep state actors, therefore BAC driving limits and seatbelt mandates are tyrannical oppression pushed on us by a controlling government and then, in a righteous act of defiant, patriotic liberty, all decided to rip off their seatbelts, shamed people who still wore seatbelts until they also stopped wearing them, and then proceeded to drive everywhere while drunk because of their god-given rights and freedoms.

That is how I see people nowadays.

Lost Judgment (not technically Yakuza but it might as well be) was a worldwide simultaneous release, on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms. They’ve said, on record, they’re doing worldwide simultaneous release going forward. Sony could still put some money forward to regain the Yakuza release exclusivity, sure, but Microsoft seems to really like having that series around, so it’d be a bidding war if it were to come to that.

On the midnight suns thing, I think people are reading too much into the article writer’s assumption, the actual wording says revamped TRAILER, not gameplay, the article writer just assumes gameplay. It could just be they’re doing a better cut trailer that better explains things

I finished Reggie's book last night. I was surprised at how much advice was given in the book. I highly doubt I will ever reach the high points on the corporate ladder that Reggie did, but there is a lot of good advice that I will take with me going forward.

He went out of his way to pat himself on the back quite a bit with his past accomplishments, but he didn't hide some of his shortcomings either. Stuff like the Panda Express tenure was interesting with how their strategy change forced him to change as well. Reggie certainly jumped to several companies in that 10~15 year stretch.

As for the Nintendo stuff, there was some cool things talked about and other areas that were really glossed over. Reading up on the behind the scenes of the Wii reveal and launch was pretty cool. Reggie pushed hard on some things and it earned him a promotion. Still, the Wii-U was barely talked about compared to the Wii and DS. I get it that there are probably NDA's involved and he doesn't want to burn any bridges, but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for some of those meetings from 2011-2013. Maybe one day we can get the full inside scoop.

Also, I know he had talked about it extensively before, but there is no doubt that man had a close relationship with Iwata. It is also incredible considering how there seemed to have been a disconnect of sorts between Japan and America leadership back before Reggie came on board.

Meanwhile Microsoft still hasn't patched their upgrade "loophole" because they recognize the value of getting folks on their plan.

Sony really will never learn. They lost me as a long-time fan long ago.

Originally my stance was “I’ll get a PS5 eventually, maybe when PSVR2 is out.” Now it’s “I think I’m okay just not having one.”
Very well said (to your entire post not just the clipped) - I fully align + agree. It's sad to see but I'm at peace with it now.

I agree with a lot of your points. The last GT I liked was 4, God of War has lost its core gameplay, which was the only reason I enjoyed those games in the first place, and without Japan Studio their overall lineup has lost a ton of its charm.

If we are being totally honest, I have barely touched my PS4 since March 2017. When I did, it was for third party games that were either multiplatform to begin with (Sekiro, Elden Ring) or released on Xbox later (Nier Automata). So it's not like I feel I am tied to the PS ecosystem. Add Forza and Bethesda's WRPGs into the mix, along with the fact that I don't want to spend 500 monies on what will essentially be a secondary console for me, and the Series S seems like the ideal choice.

Nah, card system isn’t a 6 month delay 2 months before release it’s a 1-2 year overhaul if they’re taking it out and they won’t, it’s their vision for the game. Perhaps add some mechanics for mitigating RNG but it won’t be majorly changed. Could just mean they tweaked the artstyle and want to make a bigger impact with the next trailer because they’ve been radio silent
The game was announced in August 2021 to somewhat mixed reception. If they started shortly after that reveal that would give them more than a year to rework it. That said, I don’t think it’s likely either.

Tbh none of the platform holders are really doing well for me right now, but I think Sony is arguably the worst.

Sony - They have some absolutely incredible studios making some of my favourite games around, and they're consistent in that quality in a way not seen with other platform holders. They also, unfortunately, have some really good 3rd party exclusives. However, everything else about them (their UIs, their monetization nonsense, their hardware) ranges from mediocre to bad to 'Jim Ryan.'

Microsoft = They're the only one of the three where the general user experience actually feels like it's made by those with long-term experience in software (because it is). Game Pass is incredible and makes the general value proposition of being in that eco-system so much more welcoming. However, their game pipeline needs serious work and not even the many acquisitions seems to have truly 'fixed it'

Nintendo = They're the definition of a mixed bag that you can't predict and can rarely rely upon. They can go from putting out once-in-a-generation bangers, to putting out mediocre sports titles with barely any content. In Mario Kart 8 you can literally press a button to go from "tracks with some of the best art direction in the business," to "barely touched-up mobile ports." Their software experience is consistently poor, though; that's perhaps their most reliable aspect :p

PC = Please spend £1,000 dollars to see this part of the post

So, yeah, I'm fairly platform agnostic as well, but that's because I don't think any of the platforms are truly good enough to be deemed the best. Right now I feel that choosing your favourite is a matter of choosing where your priorities lie, and if your priorities lie as broadly as mine that's a very difficult task.

I would buy a Series S if it comes with a disk, where I live the second market is pretty popular and where I buy almost all my non-Nintendo games so I can't afford to buy a diskless console even if it's to have as a GP machine (I also have a lot of x360/xbone disks already). Hope that the disk drive accessory rumored it's true, if it is I will buy one.
