It's not important. The US is a niche market where console have been on decline and only phone games are popular.
I remember people saying JP companies should start releasing multiplat games with mobile before Switch 'saved' the console market. People really thought the JP console market was dead before the Switch, now they just act like it's a minor market or that the Switch doesn't count as a console because is portable and they act like it's just the same market as mobile.

You know.. I didn't expect to buy a Switch at launch (I tend to wait a year or two to buy a new system, even the Nintendo ones which I consider the main platform to play); But I don't think I'm ready to go for another gen.. not even sure if I'd upgrade in a new model (in the end, it's just all comes to monetary problems); -- I think the current Switch still has a lot of steam and not showing signs of slowing down, unlike say.. the Wii (to not compare to the Wii U) in its final years;

So I'm glad Nintendo is not talking about replacement just yet

Yeah there's plenty of opportunity for the console market in Japan, people act like it's dead just because folks there don't have room for a spaceship launch pad in their homes (the PS5 lol)

I think the biggest disappointment for me wrt E3 not happening is that, Nintendo has no incentive now to announce their showcase ahead of time, assuming they even have one for June.

They may announce one on a random Tuesday in June two days in advance, they may just Twitter drop some games, or they may go radio silent and we just hear nothing. I like having E3 as a little time of year where I can plan my work schedule around the showcases, but at this rate I feel we'll be lucky if Nintendo even has a June showcase, and luckier still if they communicate the showcase ahead of time.

Not trying to be gloomy! It's just, these moments are where Nintendo's lack of communication can be the most frustrating

I just need a Marvelous survey now so I can create thousands of bots to request Muramasa Rebirth on modern consoles.

@Mr_No_U I was just at the doctor's office with my dad and as we were leaving the receptionist said "Have a great day!" and my dad, in a sort of exaggerated movement, leaned forward as he was walking by and really sternly said, "NO U" and I thought you should know that.

People point to the N64 and GameCube failing as reasons Nintendo shouldn't make a powerful console, when power had nothing to do with why those consoles failed. The N64 and GameCube failed because Nintendo made stupid decisions with those consoles, like sticking to cartridges and using mini-discs.

Nintendo didn't HAVE to make a console/handheld hybrid. All they had to do was make a console on par with the PS5 and Series X in power, not make a stupid decision with the hardware like they did with the N64 and GameCube, and make it easy to develop for, and that console would get third party support, which means more sales. It's actually really simple to make a console that sells well.

Yep, definitely a troll. Anyways, anyone here excited for the Fall Guys announcement?

Howdy y'all. I went to a Coldplay concert last night and damn was it a lot of fun. My body is telling me I'm not young anymore though 😭
God I still want to see Coldplay just once, even if mostly for their older albums and Sky Full Of Stars. Any deep cuts from the show?

My friend and I went to see Tai Verdes last week and it was a fun concert, but for a couple 30 year olds we were definitely the oldest people there without chaperoning zoomers in a sea of butterfly hairclips. Also after smoking a half joint before the show and trying to dance without blowing out my knees I too realize my body is lagging behind my mental age/maturity lmfao

Even here in Spain I don't have space for a PS5  , I wonder whose idea was to make such a big console it's close to the size of a PC tower

This is 100% true - and if you've never spent time in Japan it is hard to grasp the degree to which it is true. Spend 20 minutes in an apartment in Tokyo and you'll know why the Xbox failed so hard there. In the apartment I lived in my short time there, the only thing that came close in size to a Xbox/PS was the freaking bed. A PS5 on its side is almost as big as the entire kitchen.

Not just size, but in all the places I stayed, not a single on had wired internet. Mobile hotspots are the standard internet in lots of places there. Downloading a digital game is a PITA, and optical disk libraries are huge and fragile. I could safely store a dozen switch games in the carrying case for one Xbox game, without scratching anything.

Everyone in Japan plays games. Go out late and you'll see every internet cafe filled half with 50 year old guys in suits who missed the train, and half with homeless folk and they're all playing musou games. They just need a device that respects their space and their time...

Which happens to match up with what a large chunk of the Western market wanted, too, but they were underserved because 1) they're not casual gamers, they grew up on games, love games, but 2) can't afford to dedicate they're increasingly active shared streaming TV to single player activities. Part of why western ports on the Switch are so awkward. Nintendo has restored "core gaming" to a market other than 18-22 year men who want 80 hour grindfests and/or online shooters.

Well, last year there was "E3 Digital" and they still announced it like only week prior. Normally they would detail it in May. But for this year they could also do it later in the June, it's anyone guess.

They played Yellow, The Scientist, In My Place, Clocks, Viva La Vida, Fix You, and some other older ones I couldn't remember. And some I haven't heard before because I have a big gap in my Coldplay knowledge from Viva La Vida to their newest album (which is pretty good).

Also the show was full of fireworks, confetti cannons, laser light shows and light up wrist bands. A bit of sensory overload but really fun.

“Why was F-Zero abandoned? The insight I would share is that, at least during my tenure, Nintendo developers were always experimenting with different gameplay styles, always thinking about where a unique experience could be applied back, either to an existing franchise or maybe creating a new franchise. My bet is that somewhere in the Kyoto development centers, some developer is playing around with an idea that might be applied to F-Zero. It’s never a situation, at least in my experience, where the company makes a conscious decision not to continue supporting X-Y-Z franchise. Historically it just hasn’t worked that way, not when I was there.”

Port Elden Ring to Switch you cowards. If Dying Light and Witcher 3 can work....
Modern Dark Souls engine (DS3 one) can't run right now on the Switch without them putting quite a bit of work which they probably they don't consider worth it (it's a Bamco x FromSoft game). That's the reason why Dark Souls Remastered didn't use the modern engine, so it could be a lot easier to port it to the Switch

Latest update is that the courier won't deliver without an access code to a service elevator (which I don't have) because without it they say they can't reach my apartment. They're also refusing to contact me directly when the driver is here so that I could meet them and take the parcel off them. Here's the thing: even if I could get them the service code, they can't reach my apartment without a residential key fob, because there are locked gates after the service elevator. The only way they can get to me is by speaking to someone with residential access like, I dunno, the guy whose belongings they have?

Honestly with that kind of setlist I'd be stoked. Throw Sky Full of Stars and Hymn For The Weekend and I'd be a happy camper.

As a genuine fan of Trans-Siberian Orchestra who lives for fireworks, smoke machines, levitating platforms and lasers bouncing around the stadium as my near annual Christmas tradition with my friends and family when they stop by Toronto, that sounds right up my alley haha

What the fuck kind of company policy is this. Name and shame, please? Christforbid I ever have to deal with them in my personal or professional experience in any capacity.

This is DHL. Specifically their 'Express' service... international delivery that was meant to take 3 days is about to enter week 3.

Good news, they played Sky Full of Stars too! Chris Martin actually requested people to put their phones away for it and annoyingly some didn't, but it was really fun still.

Fucking DHL. I'm genuinely unsurprised, I've had issues with them before about vinyl records shipping from Europe to Canada taking eons long after the vinyl had actually officially released. The only shipping company I despise even more is FedEx.

Ahh, that sounds like a damn fun time. I remember the first time I saw Bastille in Toronto for their first album, Dan requested people put their phones away as well when they did Pompeii as the set closer and it was an ethereal experience. Honestly, I know for sure I'd put my phone away entirely for all concerts if I knew that there'd be an official recording whether video or audio. Doesn't even have to be all that pretty in editing, just something to relive the show and recall fun memories.

Yeah, I mostly kept my phone in my pocket. I took a 40 second video during the first song (Higher Power) to capture all the effects going on, and then a five second one during My Universe because the stage lights and wristbands were flashing what looked like the trans pride flag colors and I thought that was cool. My boyfriend took more videos, but not many. Like you said, just something to remember the fun times with.

They definitely knocked From's and Namco's door regarding this. Now it's all up to whether Nintendo does want to foot the bill From prepared for them.
If From doesn't want to port it to base Switch, at least port it to the Drake. That'll probably be out next year.

FromSoft doesn't do ports it would get outsourced. I don't think Nintendo will pay for the port after seeing how it doesn't help at all to get future support from Bamco/FromSoft so they will only do it if they consider getting Elden Ring alone worth it.

Nintendo has been very supportive of third party lately, even helped physical release of decades old GTA games. They'd definitely pay whatever it costs to bring Elden to their platform. It should have Skyrim/Witcher effect on Switch, bringing non-Nintendo people to the platform.

Hi there guys! What's been going on? How did you feel about the Indie World? Odd timing but glad to see it regardless.
I was happy to see some neat, goofy games, always happy to see the developers get some face time, and happy that there were puns. But strangely, also happy that nothing really piqued my interest. At this point I have so much in my backlog and wishlist because of the phenomenal indie support that I'm kinda becoming intimidated by the idea of even more releasing. I'm already at a point where I'll never be able to play everything I want to try on Switch, unless the next gen is some catastrophic flop and gives me a solid 5-6 years to catch up. 😅

Personally I'm very, very excited to get Elechead on Switch.
Same! I am also really impressed by it being developed by a single person. That's insane.

I understand exactly how you feel (though there were a couple that DID pick my interest this time around), the backlog is insane, I can't possibly get all the games I want for Switch without ending up unable to financially recover from my decisions lol However, I am glad Nintendo supports indies like this and also that Nintendo has been pumping great games themselves
