So I have a script running on the Famiboards server that is checking the NA eShop once per minute for any sign of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition being in stock. It will send a text to my phone the moment it goes up.

How would everyone feel if I set it up so that it automatically posts a thread the minute it goes up for preorder?

Is using a bot for information (as opposed to automatically purchasing) within the realm of reason, or do we feel like that takes it a step too far?
I for one embrace our famicomm overlord

I definitely get being bummed out with the second half of this year if you don't own a Switch.

Some stuff will get announced and released later this year, but 2022 is not as strong as we once thought it would be. Still, I'm eating good as a Switch owner this year.

Ah I didn't see the original or that it was edited so I was equally confused lol

wait do posts not show when others edit only yourself? mind blown

No, I just didn't know who Dark Cloud was referring to until chocolate_supra replied to him. It's really no big deal lmao

So

what are we all playing this weekend? I probably won't be up to much since there's a heat wave here and I want to enjoy the sun but I'd like to get back to some of my Kirby challenges and spend some time cleaning up more pokedex entries in arceus
As a Famiboarder, I will not be playing any games this weekend.

As a half-Welshie who spent a very happy period of my life living there (but who stupidly never learnt the language) it's always great to see Cymraeg casually popping up in places.

As a child, my grandmother (RIP) was caned in school for speaking her mother tongue. So Welsh just being a thing is much better.

Mostly Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me.

Oh hey I passed 7,000 Yeah!s just a few minutes ago! Congrats to @Dragoncaine for giving me my 7000th Yeah! by Yeah!ing my reaction to @hologram's sad Subway story earlier
The story had a happy ending! I went home and made myself lunch

I know this is pretty mundane for a happy ending but I tend to not have a lot of self control when it comes to eating out (I was in the office Mon-Wed and bought lunch each day) so I'm pretty proud of myself

(I did buy coffee on the way home, but c'mon I need that. Also that meant I could also get my wife a coffee which is always a nice thing to do)

lmao I'm in one of those moods towards gaming right now too

whatever I pick up will be my jam but I'm not sweating getting anything specific done

i.e. exactly why my backlog always grows but what can ya dooo

EDIT: the good news is my desire to post never wanes lmao

Has anybody ever heard of graph.nintendo.com?

Apparently the official Nintendo Store requests stock data directly from this API every time a game page is loaded.

This might actually be the best resources we can get for stock information on XC3: Special Edition.

2022 is looking barren for non-cutesy games says gamer who regularly ignores the majority of non-cutesy games that come out each year.

is this bait
if anything hockeybird's comment is much more likely to be bait.

Yes i forgot Xeno and fire emblem. They wouldn't have changed much, i havent gotten the opportunity to get into xeno yet and i dont like warriors games.

Wouldn't be the first time i got ganged up here because i didn't agree with the normal opinion smh my head

I have some welsh heritage and I am also a big proponent of advocating for keeping native languages alive and well. I do have some experience in Wales, but most of it involves my friend being punched by a drunk guy on bank holiday in Llandudno.

friendo, let me tell you something right now

nobody in this thread has a normal opinion

except for me, of course

if people ganged up on me it'd look something like this:

But honest question what 'cute' game 1st party we are getting this year? Only ones I can think off are M+R and Pokemon

Everytime you mentioned a difference of opinion. Be sure to talk about your pets birthday, that’ll for sure help

I have a renewed interest in getting that DC Super Hero Girls game, but it's Nintendo-published, so it never goes on sale.

i only thought about kirby because it was the first thing that came into my mind. I think hockeybird mentioned it so that's why. Sometimes we dont really think all the way, I didn't even remember rabbids and im actually excited for that shit.

Sadly my last dog died like 11 years ago or 10 i dont remember.

Ghost of Tsushima

I’m like twenty hours in and still have not moved towards Castle Kaneda lol. I’m getting serious Days Gone vibes… in terms of scope.

But Days Gone was pretty meh and GoT is is actually cool and it’s premise is hype

I’m sorry about your pet. It was more of a dig at Jim Ryan’s email

I laugh at the notion that my wife and kids would give me any time to play games this weekend.

I hope to make some more progress on ALBW (loving the game) and 13 Sentinels on Sunday. Saturday will be concert day... Bad Religion+Suicidal Tendencies lol. It should be fun

I'm just poking a little fun. But I do think people often ignore the bounty of amazing games that are coming out because they put up artificial barriers and vague checklists. Seriously, there are a ton of gamers out and are coming that I know people would enjoy if only they gave them a chance. You say you're not interested in cutesy games but what does that even mean? Is Pokemon Cutesy? Is Mario? Zelda? Is Bayonetta not cutesy given her whole persona? It's a vague concept and I think you are potentially cutting yourself off from finding a game you would enjoy simply because you perceive it as cutesy, even if most wouldn't agree.

Finishing playthrough 2 of Dread, and then I'll have to think about what to play next.

If my possessions turn up, I'll be able to finally start the Mass Effect remasters.

I’ve been home with Covid, back to work Monday.
I’ve played Mario Golf and Mario Tennis on NSO and now playing Yoshi’s Story, done 3/4 playthroughs so I’ll finish that today.

Then I might try and finish off the story in Aces, I left that halfway through. Shouldn’t take too long there.

Then maybe I’ll play some Mario Party Superstars. I’ve only played two boards as I haven’t had a lot of time for multiplayer. Might just do some solo play against the CPU.

So basically, playing a whole bunch of Nintendo games I haven’t beaten before.

Resident Evil Revelations 3 on Switch would have been cool because of the mercenary mode alone.
The mercenary mode on Village was a joke.

Has anyone ever really sat down and thought that someone at some point in time decided to name something a manhole?

For real, I lifted and opened a ton of manholes today. Stuck rods down their to measure stuff and take pictures. I'll be doing it again next week and for several weeks after that.

I just finished a Paper Mario replay last night so I’m in between games. I’m most leaning towards starting a Final Fantasy VI replay or a Zelda Link to the Past replay. Haven’t fully replayed either since the GBA versions I think. (Maybe I did ALTTP on Wii VC?)

Yuuup

Talking about Resident Evil, that trailer on Netflix looks like it will be okay. And with the games canon being to the series I’m sad

I’m 40 hours into Elden Ring, so that’s gonna be my main focus this weekend. I’m also playing Chrono Trigger and Excitebike 64, and my wife got me Switch Sports for my birthday so I’ll be dipping in and out of that I’m sure.

But mostly Elden Ring.

Pet peeve, but I hate how in media, people can easily lift up manhole covers without much effort, especially the ones in the middle of the road. These things often weigh dozens to over 100 pounds. They are also usually sealed with the road with debris asphalt. To get one open, my coworker and I have to usually bang on the lid with a sledge hammer to loosen it up and use a screw driver to chip away the surrounding debris. We then have to use a manhole hook to lift it open. Even then, we only lift it high to get it open and then we draft the lid away from the hole itself.

Bonus facts: the reason why most manhole lids are circular so the lid won't fall into the hole no matter which way you turn it.

Why Capcom continues to funnel resources into shit multiplayer spin-offs when they have a winning formula right in front of them will never make sense to me.

I wasn't expecting a lesson on manholes today but I'm better for it.

I’ve opened my fair share of manholes in my ten year career as a plumber. And yeah, them sumbitches are heavy. I was always worried about having my fingers crushed by one.
