StarTopic Metroid Dread |ST| The Chozon One

Getting the game today. It's probably gonna feel so good going from 3DS Samus Returns to big screen Dread beside it being a much better game.

Well then...

Managed to get the last two items and now it's final boss time and yeah, this one can wreck me. Managed to survive Phase One, but Phase Two (Winged) is now the next bit of trouble.

Played the final boss a few times yesterday and kept losing…. Had no idea how I’d beat it. Picked it up today and managed it first time!! Think my coordination was just a bit better today 😂

HOLY FUCK WHAT AN ENDING. The final moments after the main fight were so cool.

I’ve never played a 2d metroid before (loved the prime games) but i am EXCITED for more!!

Do we forgive Sakamoto yet?

I'm obviously being facetious here lol, but the poor man got such a hard time of it from the Metroid fanbase which I always felt was undeserved. Other M was gutter trash, sure, but even if it was, that didn't erase what he accomplished with Metroid 1-4. But even if you want to say it did, alright, does Dread redeem him again?
I don’t think I could ever hate him even after Other M, his accomplishments were amazing before. Now even moreso that he redeemed the series again.

Plus he did WarioWare

Yeah, I never got behind the hate for the guy, because god damn he accomplished so much, but whatever his sins with Other M were have been well and truly washed away.

I know it's still honeymoon phase and all, but this might be my new favorite Metroid.

Like, I've never in my life beaten a game and then immediately played it again, but here I am, staring at my screen with two completed files thinking "should I get 100% on the second file too?"

Its soooooo good.

I just finished it with 100% in 10 hours and a half.

What an amazing game! What a thrilling ending! I don’t know if I can speed run it, I’ve never done it with any game, ever, but I kinda want all the arts in the gallery.

And now I want to know where we go next! XD

I mean... (correct me if I'm wrong) but coming up with that dumbsterfire of a story in Other M, the character assasination of Samus and boneheaded idea to only use the Wiimote on a console that gets shipped with the Nunchuk for a 3D action game deserved all the criticism in the world.
Plus he wasn't in charge for the Metroid 1-3. Gunpei Yokoi or Makoto Kano were.

If we continue to get action packed 2D Metroid with bad-ass Samus like in Dread and slower but more puzzle heavy games like the Primes ones, then I will be happy

Hello, my name is MissingNo., and I am addicted to Metroid Dread.

My copy of Dread finally came in. I played until I beat the second boss and got the second power up. The game is so damn good.

With 36% items. Now I only need to do the same in hard mode, where I wasted too much time gathering additional items.

Only Dairon left for me to get 100%, then gonna go kick the bird’s ass again and start a hard mode run.

I used Storm. A LOT more damage dished out
Goof to know just saw a lot of videos of this boss last night and none of them used ⛈ so I wasn’t sure.
@Kevin360 i'm on the same boss as you. that also had me put the game down for the night.

i just can not time that parry and it screws me everytime
I was so close to beating it. Just gotta switch to TV mode so my hands stop cramping up. 😂

I could never hate the guy that did the actual miracle of bringing back Famicom Detective Club in 2021. But it's really nice to see that he still got it with Metroid, can't wait for the future of this series

I get up, i think in Dread

I work...thinking in Dread

I take a shower thinking in Dread

I take a dump...thinking in Dread

Jesus i'm having the sexy time with my gf and i'm thinking in Dread

I just can't stop thinking about, after all I did last night,
PURPLE
is still stalking me. I didn't rid my ZDR of it yet.

LIVING RENT FREE IN MY HEAD, FULL OF DREAD

Hope I stand a chance to play through this game as quickly.

Percentage? Sequence breaks?
28%, the only sequence break I did was the grapple beam/ball bomb one to get through Kraid a bit faster.

Once you've played through the game and know the critical path a bit better (and also know boss patterns like the back of your hand) it gets remarkably easy.

So for all the gallery images, you need to simply complete the game once, complete it on hard mode(?), and sub-4 runs on normal and hard? Is there an image for 100% items? Low percent items?

I think you need to do 100% to get all of the Chozo images in the gallery.

I'm at 97% completion with almost 12 hours played. Admittedly, I used a guide for two particularly devious shinespark puzzles, but I figured the rest out on my own and I never consulted a guide for bosses or exploration/traversal, which I'm super proud of. Just gotta do some final upgrade cleanups in
Ferenia
and then I'm off to fight the final boss again, after getting my shit kicked in the first three times lol

Metroid Other M was indeed a trashfire, but Sakamoto seems to have taken a lot of the criticism to heart. Samus Returns was a great return to form and Dread has simply knocked it out of the park. And anyway, he seems to have given up the directors chair for the time being.

Just doing the critical path here, or are you incorporating a couple of sequence breaks?
Did early grapple + bombs, but not sure if that makes it quicker or slower, since this was the first time I tried to go as quickly as possible.

Does this game allow you to return to areas for completion after you've beaten the final boss?
Is it one of those "pretends you didn't beat the final boss yet" sort of deals or what?

Also I (accidentally) read that at some point all the teleporters connect to each other and lets you choose. Is that before or after beating the final boss?
I'm nearing the endgame and just want to decide how I want to handle it.

Yeah, it's like Zelda. If you reload your save after beating the game you wind up just before the final boss.

And the spoliered part can happen before you beat the final boss.

Got my 100% items done and kicked the bird’s shit in again. I’ve got like infinite health now, but he was barely able to even touch me. Incredible to go from dying instantly yesterday to basically pure mastery today.

The whole game feels like that. It's an incredible feeling. Masterclass of game design.

I really need to learn to Shinespark. Insane to me that I've had the items to do it so early in the game and never understood the mechanic.

I think my calling in life is now to beat Metroid Dread using ringcon controls.

No idea how to even begin setting that up though.

i only have like 90 missiles on the giant x parasite boss near the end
After a certain point I basically stopped bothering with the phantom cloak and just ran past them.
oh man i basiclly stayed in cloaked mode exclusively for the last couple even to the point of taking some damage, esipecially when they start scanning through the walls

Yes, I feel like
you're supposed to make a run for it with the first three but try to go cloaked as far as you can with the last ones. The latter seem to spawn fairly close to the doors and the layouts and enemy placement take into account the limited movement when you're cloaked.

Finished the game on Sunday and finished a 3 hour hard mode run yesterday.

This game is a masterpiece. It's the best Metroid game and one of the best games ever made.

Took tomorrow off for a long weekend, excited to really dive into this game and hopefully beat it.

How? Various people online have said you unlock it by using all the teleporters at least once. I've already done so, just confirmed by going through every single one again, checked with a map online to make sure I haven't missed any, and it hasn't happened.

The last thing Adam told me to do was in Hanubia to go confront big bird, at which point I went back down into the planet to do more item hunting. But no free teleporting yet.

Perhaps there is more to do in Hanubia before the final boss?

Trying going to the final boss area and then coming back down
take the elevator up from Hanubia

Died dozens of times against this damned purple EMMI. What a lame, miserable part it is, can't wait to blow this thing off...
The purple one is definitely brutal

The spawn location of the emmi when you walk in the room, the general layout of the room meaning that the emmi ALWAYS is close enough to hear you move, combined with the water make it very difficult to get through. I ended up resorting to the phantom cloak, leaving it on until I had 1 health left. That gave me enough time to make it through.

When you get the opportunity to kill the purple one though, you’ll be much stronger and faster and it feels SO GOOD.

Just beat The experiment boss And that was pretty brutal, I was barely scraping by and ended the fight at 30 health. Please tell me the rest of the bosses are cakewalks. Lie to me please!

Loving the game by the way but I think I’m done for the night after that boss

Same. Hate that thing, but already feel well equipped to head back to it soon and beat its butt.
