I'm finally giving Skyward Sword a go and this game went from being pretty damn cool in the first dungeon to really annoying very quickly in this volcano area lol. My patience in games is so much thinner lately.
I think the forest area is worse, but at least it's smaller. I would have enjoyed the game more if it had never rewarded exploration, but it does just enough that I kept repeating areas to uncover close to nothing.

You're on the verge of the longest, uninterrupted section of awesome in the game though. Once you get to the next dungeon it gets good for a while. I encourage you to treat the game as a theme park ride, from one cool set piece to the other

Out of all the Zelda games, none capture the sense of adventure than The Wind Waker. I'll probably make a thread about this someday. Yes, other Zelda games tell epic tales and let you explore fantastical landscapes. But there are things about Wind Waker, from the graphics, to the music, to the wide seas, to it staring young Link, that bring you that childhood wonder to see the world, defeat evil, and accomplish great things.

My dad: So are you gonna eat your dinner or what?

Me: You don't understand, someone on the internet is talking about Chrono Trigger

I say it every time but I really will be shocked if Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are a package deal
Totally. I think this is one of those things people haven’t thought through. Why would Nintendo bundle them? It’s two big games that can each be a tentpole for an entire quarter. They’ve got more years of Switch and they’re clearly not in any hurry.

Personally I don’t think we’ll see any 3D Zelda remasters this before BotW2.

I'm not at all upset that I've been working on an album I'm calling "West Wind" for the past year

Only for CRJ to announce her upcoming album, "Western Wind"

No, not at all upset

It's not the only western wind, nor was it the first, nor shall it be the last.

Go forth: blow west and sound the drum in the belly of the world.

Pokemon Legends has become a game I'm playing just to finish, rather than because I particularly like it. It does good things, but the overall loop doesn't really do it for me.

Which is fine! The basic gameplay loop works OK when I'm ill, whereas if I tried Triangle Strategy run 2 or 13 Sentinels, the inability to seriously concentrate might be a big obstacle to interaction and enjoyment.

Hiromasa Shikata, director of A Link Between World and Triforce Heroes hasn't been credited in any game since 2015. There's clearly a world when he's working on the next 2D Zelda, possibly in collaboration with Grezzo.
Hypothetically, that would mean :
2022 : TP/WW HD, which means multiple Zelda remasters in a row ( with Skyward Sword HD )
2023 : Botw2
2024 : New 2D Zelda by Grezzo

The reason a TP/WW HD bundle is considered a possibility is simply because they'd essentially be ports of ports. No, I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to still release them standalone, but they're a different situation than every other Wii U port we've seen. They're not Wii U games; they're Wii U remasters of Gamecube games.

Aonuma said the 'portable' Zelda team would remain independent in 2017, and would be tasked with coming up with a new form of portable Zelda, or something similar. It seems probable, given Aonuma's hints at Link's Awakening Remake predate that (2016, the infamous thief gag), that Grezzo worked on LA independently of whatever the 2D Zelda leads might have been cooking that would take the subseries in a new direction. (This last sentence is unclear - I know EPD 3 produced LA 2019; I mean that project is clearly not what Aonuma refers to in early 2017 when he says the 2D Zelda team will remain distinct and work on a new game)

From what I remember, other senior people from the portable Zelda design group have popped up on other projects. It may well be that getting resources together for a new game, or finding a new template for 2D Zelda, hasn't been either possible or a priority in the last few years; Zelda as a franchise is in excellent health. It wouldn't surprise me if annual sales for the Zelda series are hitting 10 million or more every year Switch is on the market.

Obviously, commercial considerations are part of the thinking at Nintendo, but my guess is a strained production pipeline at EPD has contributed; and it may well be that it takes a while before Aonuma and the 2D Zelda leads are happy with a new idea for the series.

@chocolate_supra my son was asking about sonic today. Must have seen something about the movie. He thinks that Miles Prower is the greatest name ever (he’s at the age where he can get the pun so it’s amazing to him it’s Tails full name). Guess it’s that time to introduce him to the classics

28 Waddle Dees left! Going through all the levels and scouring them for missed secrets is super relaxing and rewarding 😄

For my money, the section of the game when it gets dark and stormy up through the Tower of the Gods and the Old Hyrule reveal is still one of, if not the, greatest parts of a Zelda game ever. Just so many great things happening there. Sure the dungeons aren’t the best, but WW is really a prime “sum greater than its parts” example to me. Something about how it all comes together just elevates it so much more than you would expect

For those of yall who played Nier Automata:
I'm on Route B. Just finished the Adam and Eve fight underground and... I caught a glimpse of a hologram or something, a girl in a dress, for just a split second in the cutscene. And I'm almost certain she wasn't there when I was playing the exact same fight and scene with 2B.

I don't understand what the fuck that was.

So far this game has been lovely and melancholy but largely surprise-free. I am now, however, freaked out. I'm sure it'll be explained at some point so I'm not asking for spoilers or anything, I'm just letting yall know so you can enjoy this nier n00b losing his shit.

Have Joy Cons always been this bad?

I always use the Pro Controller so have only really heavily used mine when they were brand new, but pulling them out for Switch Sports and oh boy. The right one in both sets has so much lag on every button press, and across the board they just love to lose the connection.

I think yours might just be worse off.

I never had an issue with connection. They’re usually as stable with that as the pro controller.

My issue is just the built quality. The triggers feel like they’ll break at any second. And drift since clicking these triggers I swear is making them break apart. Trigger clicking as a prompt just sucks for any game.

How would one get hold of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 limited edition in the US of A?
North American pre-orders for the limited edition have not gone live yet, as far as I know. What has been announced is that it's a Nintendo Store exclusive, so you'll be wanting to keep an eye on Ninty's socials.

Also, apparently My Nintendo Store UK allows you to "register your interest" by submitting your email address, so that they'll let you know when the pre-ordera are set to go live. The US store doesn't offer this (yet) but I'd expect an email alert from Nintendo UK couldn't hurt.

I was kinda disappointed with them when I first got my Switch because it seemed like they didn’t have a super firm connection and we’re kind of laggy

lo and behold, turns out having the Switch sideways next to my TV was just absolutely fucking with the Bluetooth. Now it lives on a box of records next to the TV and (by some miracle) I haven’t had a single Joy Con issue since

note that the above happened while my Pro Controller worked fine, so trying new positions is always worth a shot

I’ll only accept WW/TP pack if the boxart has TP Link battling Toon Ganondorf.
I will only accept it if they have a switch case with images of Wii U cases with images of Wii cases with images of GameCube cases in them. Like an even worse version of that Dawn of Sorrow greatest hits version from Konami.

I see. Thank you very much, compadre.

I’m actively playing three games right now, which is officially too many. But so anyway one of them is Dirt 5, which was a PS Plus game a few months ago. Now me, I love racing games. I love Dirt Rally. And I kinda hate Dirt 5? Ok so I don’t hate it, but it’s just so dang boring and repetitive. The tracks all blend together and the cars all feel the same and it’s like your doing the same race over and over dozens of times. I’m coming straight off the heels of GT7, which probably isn’t helping. That game is deeeeeep, and this game is …not. It’s a very shallow experience. The Dualsense features on PS5 are nice, and the visuals are sometimes pretty at least. Thankfully I’m not too far away from rolling credits on it.

I have my Switch next to my TV and I also have connection issues with my joycons at times, usually when I'm sitting in a specific position. Same with my PS4 controller. I think it usually happens if I'm sitting slightly off to the side or I bring my leg up in front of the controllers. Oddly, I never have such issues with the Switch Pro controller.

My Switch was pushed quite far back in my entertainment unit. Pulling it right to the front didn’t help like I’d expected though.

Like above, simply putting your knees up in front of it can make it drop the connection which is something I’ve never encountered with a controller before.

I just stop at two games at once and leave it at that; I don't even play those two games in the same day. I mostly alternate when I can.

Also side note. My sister bought her own Switch a few months ago and connected the same Nintendo account to it.

Am I safe to delete her profile off my Switch. It will just delete the local save data which she doesn’t need, but from her end she won’t notice a thing?

Traveling back to Canada after a month of client meetings and traveling in the USA. Thank goodness I was able to play my switch during the traveling and the downtime.

Portable gaming is the future my friends.

Yes it is. Back when the switch launched and for the first couple years I would travel every other week, so being able to bring the dock to the hotel and set it up so simply was amazing.

Didn't even bring my dock cause I rarely stayed inside my hotel. But anytime I called it a night or had a plane/car ride, I would bust it out for short gaming sessions. Love it man.

Glad you're enjoying it. I won't elaborate on the point you just brought up, just want to say that yes, I'm enjoying this "nier n00b losing his shit". :) It's always lovely for me to see people undertake this spectacular ride.

I haven’t kept up on wrestling since the infamous CM Punk “pipe bomb” work (or was it a shoot? It was that good), but I thought Cody Rhodes was on AEW. Also, that was 11 years ago. Damn I’m old.
I haven't kept up on wrestling since we lost Eddie Guerrero. I am also old.

Well there ya have it

officially turn Final Fantasy into a Sony first party franchise.
At least we'd be done with all this timed exclusivity bs they keep pulling with the franchise.
And I'd finally be able to move on from the FF IP for good, most likely.

Well, whatever; it's not only a rumor, but also unlikely at best.

I can’t believe 2022’s already almost over

The tale of Cody Rhodes is a long and interesting one, he helped build AEW, talked smack on WWE multiple times on AEW programming, and then came back to WWE later. I guess he's playing both sides so he always comes out on top.

Alright, time to do something I've wanted to do for a while, make an attempt to hunt down the Labo Variety Kit. Always wanted to try the piano. I have the Labo VR kit and I absolutely love it.

Did anyone here ever get it?

Yes I did. On one of those target offload sales for $20. Variety kit was fun, but not as in depth as the other kits. I still have yet to do the vehicle or VR kits, but have those. Piano is really interesting and actually can make music if you know what your doing (I do not, but it still was fun to build and good around with.

The Pipe Bomb was a work, but Punk got a chance that night to go all out.
Cody went back the WWE with Wrestlemania in a match against Rollins.

By my estimation there's like ~25 episodes of Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai left and still no sign of the game being anywhere close to release. I wonder what it's going to look like once they show it again. If it still exists, that is.

I did but the real question here did anyone still have it?
