It's me, ya boy, kinda exhausted even more so for a Monday than usual.

I haven't even been (shit)posting as often as I would otherwise, but I promise I'm around.

I told my girlfriend about Scarlet/Violet and even she was completely enamored with all the starters, especially Sprigatito. I don't want to jinx it but like...I think she might be convinced to buy her first Pokemon game.

I'm going to assume no for obvious reasons, but Nintendo hasn't announced it's next N64 NSO game for March, have they?

I'm hearing that Live A Live is rather a short experience. That would be disappointing, I'm gonna need some meaty JRPG's for the summer. Last year's summer was a JRPG feast: Trails of Cold Steel 4, Ys 9 Monstrum Nox, Disgaea 6, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Neo TWEWY... I don't expect a that kind of lineup this year but something more than Live A Live is appreciated...

Definitely a lot slimmer this year compared to last - Summer months are looking a bit empty in terms of RPG's and there's not many games dated from july and onwards at all.

Sports Story could possibly drop I guess? Omori could very well be a summer release as well but definitely not a 2021 in repeat.

They haven’t. They stopped promoting in general some since the Ukraine war going on. Didn’t even promote the pokemon presents

Reasonably confident that something is in the works that could be released soon-ish, not super confident that it's going to be this year.
Would, oh let's say March 2023 be "soon-ish?"

I'm sorry if this question has been answered a million times in the hardware thread but that thread regularly talks well above my technical knowledge so I rarely go in there. In fact, if you'd be so kind, what's the current "status" of a new Switch model? Has anything concrete been found out about it? Any reliable tidbits coming from any supply chain folks?

The last info we have says it's coming late 2022 and can slip to early 2023. What "it" is, is mostly unknown because it will be down to marketing.

And said info can always be wrong, either inaccurate or plans have changed.

I feel like, if Triangle Strategy's balance stays so heavily weighted on story and cut scenes for the rest of the game's length, it's going to be a divisive one for reviewers.

There's good stuff here, but the bulk of my 3 hours with the demo so far have been dialogue scenes. If that's reflective of the rest of the game (and sure, it absolutely might not be), then I can see this turning off some reviewers.

sounds like BOTW2 lmao

OK, I can hold out a year or so. Thanks! Frankly I don't care if it's a "Pro" or "2" or "super" or whatever, just a more powerful machine is enough for me.

I really hate bringing up Nintendo's next console so much but every time I play anything with a sub 30 frame rate I cannot help myself but desire a new, more performant unit more than anything ever regarding games hardware. I started up SMT V this weekend and I'm really enjoying it (the demon recruitment dialog is incredible) but damn every time the frame rate dips I just sigh.

Like, I don't even want 4K 60 FPS HDR VRR V-Sync Free-Sync Kitchen-Sync FSR DLSS Ray Tracing etc, I just want a rock solid stable 1080p (even a locked 720p would be ok) 30fps minimum. That's it!
In my memories the game was running much better in handheld mode. On the TV It gave me headaches cause it was never stable and there's a lot of framepacing problems too.

It would also be cool to have a more powerful Switch so that open-world games have less pop-in. It's something that really distracts me from the great world designs sometimes. I thought Botw was doing well in this area compared to SMTV or Xenoblade.

It probably would run better in handheld mode but I have to play it on TV so my girlfriend can also enjoy the incredible demon recruitment dialog hahaha

Just in case you have a cfw-able Switch: I've found that a small CPU overclock to 1224mhz smoothes SMTV quite a bit. If you can take advantage of it, I'd consider it.

Uh, hey thread! I may be a bit scarce here for a while, catching up now, but Elden Ring has absolutely eaten every inch of my free time. They completely knocked this one out of the park, and it's pretty much all I can think about lately, it's got me hard.

Blade is easily my favoruite Heisei Phase 1 show. It's SOOOO weird and textural and genuinely really really interesting and good. It's about where Rider's mid-aughts J-Drama to Sci-Fi-Hero transition was at it's perfect 50/50 equilibrium and it creates a really interesting feeling to the show. Cannot recommend it enough even if the first dozen or so episodes are a bit rough.

I'm always down to talk toku tho never think I'm not!
Yeah early Heisei is a really fascinating beast in how it is basically just a j-drama with superheroes, and definitely more violent and gritty than the modern shows. I haven't seen Den-O yet but from my understanding it's where a lot of the tropes for modern Rider were solidified, especially the focus on slapstick anime-esque humor. While Ryuki is my favorite of the ones I've seen, Blade is probably second, the others being Faiz and Kuuga. But yeah, the first third or so of the show is pretty rough, I knew that going in though, I knew all the memes, including this one:

Den-O is good! You should watch Den-O! I don't know if I would say it solidified a lot of Rider tropes, but I also don't think W (which I would call the Rosetta Stone of Modern Rider) would have what it was without it.

me looking at these Elden Ring bosses like “what kinda alpha pokémon is that?”

I think I've figured out why From Software games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls don't appeal to me: they are Anti-Sega games. They are the opposite of Sega games.
As a Sega fan I'm interested in this statement but, like, please elaborate

Den-O and Agito are both on my list as must-watches.

I've seen:

Black
Kuuga
Ryuki
Faiz
Blade
W
OOO
Fourze
Gaim (my first)
Drive
Ex-Aid
Build (my favorite)
Zero-One
Revice (watching)

I know for Heisei Rider, the remaining shows after Agito/Den-O tend to have a more mixed reception. So not sure what to watch after that lol

I'm 100% OK with people thinking Zelda won't launch this year, but I'm not going to lie: I'm also completely sick of how any and all developments in gaming mean that Zelda is delayed. It's been like this within days of Nintendo setting a 2022 date.
This is basically where I am at moment, it feels very often folks are making ultimatums with themselves to either assuage or exacerbate their anxieties about things that just aren’t logical “if botw 2 doesn’t show up at event X then it’s delayed “, “if there’s a single game within 6 months of botw 2 it needs to move to give the game space “, etc etc . Very often it’s for things that we could already have guessed (there’s in fact , gonna be multiple big nintendo game releases this second half/holiday, very surprising) and factored in but folks are reacting to as if it’s revelatory new info and it’s just a headscratcher versus just taking what we know at face value for right now .

Out of those I haven't seen Ex-Aid, Zero-One (though I own the Blu-Ray) and I haven't been keeping up with Revice even though I've got the Figuarts on the way from Japan lmao

Most of those shows are bangers! Drive is really the only show on there I'd say is bad. Faiz is... not great but very interesting at the very least.

I'm glad you've managed somehow to avoid Wizard and Ghost. I'd recommend keeping it that way. You don't need to watch everything.

Also: If you like Black, you need to watch Noboru Sugimura's run as head writer of Sentai (Zyuranger, Dairanger, Kakuranger, and Ohranger). It is some of the best tokusatsu you'll ever see.

As I said in the thread for it, I'm just glad that a separate thread exists for it so I can direct any derails and conspiracies there lol

Don't you start now mister

Ex-Aid is great, I'm not quite as high on it as some folks but it's in my top 5 I would say. Zero-One is pretty solid and has cool suits but the middle part sags and the show tends to feel like a remix of previous Rider seasons' story beats. Revice has been getting really good, lots of plot twists and the best female Rider in the franchise by a mile.

But yeah, I knew for years shows like Wizard and Ghost had a bad reputation. I don't intend to watch everything, just the more interesting/better shows. I'll probably transition to watching more Sentai as I've seen less of that than Rider.

Does anybody know what a red cross mark emoji means behind the profile name on linkedin? I see it constantly. And most people using these seem to be quite... troublesome. They are mostly anti-vax and conspiracy idiots.... is it like a sign or something?

I saw that Skittzoo already answered your question so I'll just add this: Switch Plus.

Draw your own conclusions.
no pls don't

I thought Black was OK with the context that it was a 35 year old that was obviously meant to be watched once a week at dinner time and not binged. I enjoyed the fights and suits, less so the characters and story outside of the Shadow Moon arc. I've seen Zyuranger and Dairanger and I know this will break your heart but I wasn't a huge fan of either of them. I've been considering checking out Kakuranger but I know Ohranger was impacted by the sarin gas attacks so that lessens it somewhat for me.

My favorite Sentai that I've seen are definitely Gokaiger and Timeranger. Kobayashi is probably the most consistent toku writer in my experience.

So...anybody here ever have twins?

My wife is due in May and I'm just feeling like my gaming time is going to vanish. I know I'll still have some time when the babies are sleeping but yeah...I've been grappling with that recently. Any tips from people who have had twins or just newborns in general? My days of online multiplayer are probably done and some of the longer games that I love, like Zelda, are starting to look pretty daunting because of how long they're going to take for me to play.

Reached the part of Dark Souls 3 I've never played before so I am completely lost. In the Profaned Capital now and fighting Yhorn who is kicking my butt!

It started as a MAGA thing to show you were being censored by Jack Dorsey for Twitter banning certain people.
