I remember a Game Informer interview with maybe Masuda I think, where he said they develop exclusively for Nintendo hardware because they have a good relationship with Nintendo, so it's a favor to them, but they could release elsewhere if they wanted. But like, knowing what we know, this is obviously BS. So I have no idea what that was about. Do I, an armchair analyst, finally know more than an actual video game exec? True capital G gamer status achieved

Oh yeah ALBW wasn't 3D, duh.
Well technically... 🤔

As apparently the only person on the internet who doesn't mind Imagine Dragons I honestly thought the intro was pretty solid

Also I think that's the only Imagine Dragons track in the soundtrack, but tbf it does show up a lot
I don't hate Imagine Dragons, but I think having your shown be known as "the Imagine Dragons show" is maybe not ideal lol

They also play a different song in the first episode when we first see the slum town

I believe Masuda was referring to their other projects like Harmoknight and Tembo, which yeah they can release anywhere they want. It’s only the Pokemon IP in particular that they don’t have all the say in,

I could've sworn he was asked about Pokémon, but it's been so long since I read that interview that you could very well be right. Capital G gamer status revoked

I was a very stick in the mud kid, my team had to be leveled evenly at all times. I was very disappointed when I saw other kids steamrolling the game with their starters, those poor uncivilized

I really wonder whay slot can be located for Prime 1 because if Prime 4 is going start getting promoted for a 2023 release, Prime 1 have to come out in 2022, i wonder if it actually Agust before Xeno 3

Also bacuse this is the 20th anniversari year of Prime

In every single Pokémon main game I have played, meaning every Gen, Mainline (including PLA) and Remake, my team is constantly leveled evenly, high level at that.

That’s why Exp. Share for all the team has been a bless for me, but it is a shame that it is forced and there is not an option to turn it off for those who want that.

Hope Japanese borders will be reopened to tourists and journalists by then

Persona news in less than an hour, but google translate makes it sound like events and merch news so probably expect nothing and hope for the next one.

Furukawa's comments last spring (I think?) about Nintendo increasing budgets per game making more and more sense as the 2022 line-up takes shape. Looking at Scarlet/Violet versus Sword/Shield (and even Legends), and the game looks meaningfully bigger in scope and complexity. Rewatching the trailer and the image quality is really not great, but things will improve ahead of launch later this year.
Triangle Strategy this week - who's gonna get it?

I'm game.
Started the demo yesterday. My morning is currently radically unproductive so I think I'll go back on it soon and try to do Actual Things this afternoon. Hoping the rest of the game has more combat/exploration than the exposition-dominated opening 90 minutes, but there's a lot of promise in what I've played so far.

It's not what you think it is
I was aware of G-Zero, but it's nice to get actual confirmation of its existence; If the ROM leaked somewhere, I'm sure someone would make a repro cart to work on the actual Virtual Boy.

Watching the DYKG video, the testing for Virtual Boy games sounds terrifying lol

Tried an hour so of the first demo which I liked - based my purchase on that. It's been a long time since I bought a first party published game for myself (Metroid) so I'm hoping it delivers!

I'm hearing that Live A Live is rather a short experience. That would be disappointing, I'm gonna need some meaty JRPG's for the summer. Last year's summer was a JRPG feast: Trails of Cold Steel 4, Ys 9 Monstrum Nox, Disgaea 6, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Neo TWEWY... I don't expect a that kind of lineup this year but something more than Live A Live is appreciated...

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Anthology plus (not a JRPG) Mass Effect Legendary Edition Switch ports let's gooooooo

From Software, a 332 employees studio, took 6 years between Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, with a part of the studio working on Sekiro during Elden Ring's development.

Botw 2 is coming 5-6 years after Botw, just imagine what they have achieved in that time. I don't think we're ready for what this game will offer.
I want this to be the case. But my on cynicism makes me thinks it's not going to be as big of a jump as we're all hoping

I'm starting to give up on Mass Effect on Switch dream... It's been a year since it was released on other consoles.

My first post in that "BOTW2 delay" thread is my most yeah'd post ever I think.

Giving the people what they want works!

TFW you realize Nintendo could have 8 exclusive RPGs on Switch this year...

January -- Pokemon Legends Arceus
February --
March-- Triangle Strategy
April -- Advance Wars
May --
June --
July -- Live A Live
August --
September -- Xenoblade 3
October --
November -- Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
December --

Then if they make it this year, slot in Mario + Rabbids 2 and the rumored mainline Fire Emblem game for a total of 8.

I was like this too and it made the grind so much longer than it needed to be in retrospect.

How are we feeling about Zelda this year? I’m starting to think BotW is 2023 with Dane in March.

September - Xeno 3
October - Bayo 3
November - Pokemon S/V
December - Mario 2D
January - New Fire Emblem

I don’t know, I think I’m confident enough in my prediction.

I haven't played a single minute of Elden Ring and I'm far from a Soulsbro but I'm amused that the discourse surrounding it rn is "open worlds don't have to be shit, huh"

seems familiar

Most games of that vintage weren't the equivalent of doorstopper fantasy novels. Personally I'd much rather have more shorter RPGs, but to each their own.

In the meantime, Triangle Strategy is out Friday and that'll have multiple paths through the story you can experience. And we're getting new Pokemon and Xenoblade. That's more than enough #content to drown in.

Why slot in a rumored game when you have the confirmed FEW 2. Also Advance wars is a Turn Based Strategy(TBS) game not a rpg

Perhaps this fiscal year then? I guess we will have more answers/smoke near summer since that's when they usually start manufacturing if there is a new console this year.

Yeah, unless you're really interested in following all of the tech stuff and the leaks it's probably best to forget about a Pro/2/Plus/Dane/Whatever until Summer.

Are warriors games commonly considered RPGs? I always thought they were considered action games, although they have character leveling up and strategy elements that I could see it counting.

To be fair, that's what I have been trying doing to do lol. Thankfully this year has insane amount of quality games.

That would make for a really nice E3 season announcement although I don’t remember if they have a specific season they like to announce new revisions
