Please do not antagonize other users with vague accusations you are unwilling to discuss or elaborate on. This is inflammatory and will not be tolerated- Donnie, BlondKayvon, Hologram
I really don't think this kind of thing is helpful. Tensions are high but throwing out accusations that you don't intend to clarify doesn't help anyone.

It's not that I don't want to clarify on it, I don't want to clarify to you specifically. As I said, I have no intention of engaging with you so I will stop doing it from this point.

Maybe you can clarify it for the other people reading this thread? I'm trying to understand why you would post something like that if you don't want people to understand what you meant.

Maybe clarify for me then, as I haven’t seen any apologia on behalf of Putin or the acts the Russian state is currently carrying out.

Implying that members have blood on their hands in this context is inflammatory and unacceptable. Due to repeated infractions, you are receiving a two-week ban -BozPaggs, Donnie, hologram
I found his original comment helpful, it's why I gave it a like.

I'm also not going to clarify or name names, but I will say If you are a member who thinks he was targeting you with that comment, is it really the time or place for you to get defensive? Wouldn't getting the blood of innocent Ukrainians off of your hands be a more important thing to be doing right now?

What I mean is that Russia can argue we are arming terrorists if that were to happen. They've tried to make these assertions with Syria but it held no ground. Post this invasion, if successful, it would.
That’s true but the US has never had an issue with those charges before. Of course in those cases the US wasn’t funding insurgencies against countries like Russia.

VERY worrying and we should all condemn the invasion by the warmongering dictator Putin and his fascist acolytes.

My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people. Please please stay safe.

Do you think that posting on a forum is the equivalent of murdering civilians? This is serious.

Not just me, the mods allow such thinking and accusations.
I'm sure I've asked this before, but how many dead people would it have taken for the lock downs to not be "needless".

Clearly 170,000 wasn't enough for you, did it need to get to a nice round million to be worth saving a bunch of lives?

So I'll keep posting how is allowed, thanks.

Nah, this is where I nope the fuck out of this thread.

I know this has been said already, probably, but it needs to be repeated that the Russian government is attempting to control the narrative within Russia and outside of it. Also read Vadim's thread. It is genuinely infuriating how little NATO and EU have done.

Are you a descendant of Neville Chamberlain?

I strongly disagree actually. Comparing a European country to a middle eastern one is geopolitically nonsensical. The historical and cultural variables are very crucial too. Putin is not a shortsighted or foolish person. I hope you're right, obviously. I can tell you too that Finland hopes you're right as well because they aren't NATO and Putin laments their independence as well. Who is gonna protect Finland?

Look at Belarus. Who do you think runs Belarus? Lukashenko or Putin? He doesn't need to occupy all of Ukraine. He just needs to control it. This is done in numerous ways. Destabilization will be crucial here.
The Ukrainian population is going to be very hostile to that, they already were in 2014 to the point the pro-Russian government even got overthrown, and that resentment would be even worse now.

Did you miss the last US election? That's no different to what the likes of twitter tried.

If we're going to keep doing this, can we just keep this thread to news and resources? Because the fighting is getting old.

This is sickening. The pro-Russia disinformation machine is in full effect.

Some Vice News articles detailing how the war is being experienced on the ground floor. Which are both very scary and truly heartbreaking.

My coworker in Kharkiv is safe. Drove out west. But I fear that this will inevitably reach there too

I’m out Fami. Both from this thread and this site for a while since mods don’t seem like they want to steer this bat shit crazy thread.
It's a small mod team, they probably just don't have the resources to cover all timezones. In the meantime best to just report and not engage

Sorry if this is insensitive (I will remove it if so), but this anyone have any links to something that gives better understanding of what modern warfare is?

When I hear reports that Ukrainian forces are engaging Russian troops, I`ve realized my mind brings up WW2 style fighting and I don`t actually have any idea what this means in modern context with 2 forces that both have advanced technology.

Footage of tanks rolling in while people go about their daily business leaves me even more confused.

Well to be honest they've failed outside of Russia and even there I suspect they will have a hard time. A lot of people in Russia have family and friends who live in Kiev and Kharkiv(along with other cities). If they woke up and saw the bombings near those cities, which are well outside Donetsk and Luhansk, it wouldn't sit well with them.

As for outside of Russia. Only the far left and far right are being influenced by Russian propaganda. Those who blame NATO and Biden are the idiots, and dare I say traitors. Fox News is Fox News. Russia failed here because our government was on its ass unlike in 2014. Take this as someone who has paid a lot of attention to this and watched what happened on twitter in 2014. The disinformation was strong and effective. They tried the same tactics this time and it's impact was small.

I mean, Ukraine are using Javelins, an anti-tank weapon, again Russian's tanks. There are active shootouts in Eastern Ukraine. There was reportedly one north of Kiev at the airport. They are shooting down jets and even flying their own jets.

Russia has secured total air dominance through his first attack wave which is the only thing that matters in a modern war. The next step is heavy artillery fire , ground movements with tanks and support from battle helicopters.

Can you speak German? There was a high ranking military analyst in the Austrian state TV who gave a good lecture about modern military warfare.

We are going to be seeing probably so much disinformation about all of this. It's going to really turn into a war of information.

Looking off the cuff, this seems really bad though. It's insane it has come this far, and I hope the rest of Europe and America can do what's best for Ukraine right now, whatever that may be.

I really don't think Putin is going stop at Ukraine after this though.

People who think he will stop are the same who thought we were exaggerating the threat to Ukraine last week.

Putin made it clear what he wants. He wants the countries that used to be owned by Russia back under its umbrella.

I am saying that they should not have a place on this forum, I'm not saying they ARE on this forum. There's a big difference.
and i'm agreeing with it that's all

It's dishonest to ignore that your comment invites the interpretation that they are on this forum.
Please just take what I'm saying in stride, understand I'm not warning or banning you or anything, and carry on.

English is not my first language. The sentence would make perfect sense in my mother tongue, if it doesn't translate well then I'm sorry but there's no foul intent.

Apparently Ukranian forces are resisting and putting up a fight.

Biden will speak in about 20mins :

I believe that the only realistic way to end this conflict quickly it's that either , the Russian Army flips on Putin or someone from his inner circle offs him. Either way this has to be the end of him.

This is why a clarification would have been helpful earlier. Thank you.
Please respect others when they wish not to engage.
This user is doing their part not to create conflict with you, you should be doing yours.

Always a "great" way to start a vacation day by reading that there's suddenly a war in your home continent. So much death and tragedy because of the ego of a single asshole.

I hope Ukraine can stay strong, and my condolences to all ukrainian victims and their families.

What a great birthday...
