Rumour Metroid Prime remaster/remake planned for 2022 (UPDATE: new rumor from Jeff Grubb, see threadmarks)

I bet this game will be released very near Prime original 20th anniversary.

that is november.

Imagine for a second if last quarter switch lineup is Zelda BOTW2, Prime 1 Remake and next EPD Tokyo project (DK?)
This is precisely why I DONT think Prime will launch in November. We're probably getting something from EPD Tokyo (3D Mario or DK) to coincide with the Mario film and BotW 2 is probably a fall release (somewhere in the Sept.-Nov. range), so I think Prime likely launches in the spring or summer.

When does everyone think this releases if it’s basically completed? I bet Nintendo will want a 6 month gap at least with Dread, so maybe spring? Though late summer has been the release timeframe for many Metroid games in the past.

I’m enjoying Dread a 100% right now, but Prime 1 is something special in its own way and I’m so looking forward to this remake/remaster.

Spring 2022. Fully expecting an official announcement and release date at The Game Awards in December.

I'm thinking July is a pretty good month for Nintendo remasters. Skyward Sword HD sold really well.

Around the same time as Dread, between August to October 2022, and the same for Prime 4 in 2023.

August to October. Announced at E3 and we get our first trailer of Prime 4.
This.

My guess is it gets announced at TGA this year and releases Q1 2022.

I could see it releasing in February, but not with such short notice (although the Bayonetta ports were announced at TGA and released in February), I think April/May is more fitting.

January Direct and release within 4 to 6 weeks like Mario Collection follow with a new teaser for MP4 with see more in the Summer (E3) like Smash Bros. reveal.

I dont think Geoff has that sadly my bet this year is we get another sneak peak of BOTW2 with title reveal to cap of its anniversary or a third party exclusive (MUA3, BD2)

Dread definitely has me more hyped than ever for Prime 4 and a Prime 1 remake would be the cherry on top. I imagine this was by design on Nintendo's part. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Prime 4 for the first time in early 2022.

As much as I would love to already see it by TGA I don't it's that likely. If it gets shown there, I think it'll be released by May like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, or July like Skyward Sword HD.
What I think is the most likely scenario is it being announced at a February Direct for July or August, or at E3 for August or even October.

After Dread having such amazing word of mouth It think Samus' return(pun intended) is going to be big. She really deservee it long time ago it's nice to see it come to fruition. People know samus only from smash nowadays but that's about to change.

Thread title should be changed to "Remaster/Remake". That would be a more accurate description of what this is.

My guess is it gets announced at TGA this year and releases Q1 2022.

Earliest I see it releasing is during the second half of 2022. Because Metroid Prime's actual anniversary is in November.

TGA announcement seems very unlikely. Only reason Bayonetta 1+2 were announced during the TGAs is because they released 1-2 months later.

Metroid Prime Remaster potentially being second half 2022 is another thing which makes me think the year is going to be back loaded in terms of first-party titles.

Hopefully it's a remake or a remaster like crash and spyro if so ill get it for sure if the rumors are true. Wish they did the whole trilogy tho that package was so good it's hard to let go of that for a single game haha.

it sounds more like Xenoblade since it's not a complete ground up remake. the visuals are getting a big overhaul but the underlying gameplay code is the same as teh GCN version

I don't think Nintendo feels bound to announce things or release things around anniversaries though. Dread wasn't announced during any anniversary and I'm not aware of its release date being a Metroid anniversary date. I kinda feel Metroid Prime 1 remember or remake would be a September title but that's just my gut and could be way off. But I hope Nintendo has something good for TGA regardless.

I don't think Nintendo announces another Metroid title before Dread has its first holiday season. I think February Direct is the earliest timeframe for its announcement.

If I had to guess, maybe they slot it around the Skyward Sword spot in July or August. Assuming BoTW2 is their holiday game in November, they'd probably keep Metroid pretty far away from it. The first half is already too booked, so 2nd half certainly makes more sense but not so late as to run into Zelda.

? The first half has only Legends Arceus, Kirby, and Triangle Strategy.

they released Super Mario Maker in 2015 basically as close to the Mario anniversary as they could

same for 3D All Stars

Probably should have clarified that I was assuming Splatoon was a first half game.
Even with Splatoon H1 isn't that packed. Metroid Prime could easily slot in.

Splatoon 3 is definitely aiming for a May-July release. Nintendo's marketing team always positions Splatoon as a summer-y game.

My big question is where does the next Xenoblade slot in? Assuming those reports are accurate, does it land in the first half or second half of 2022?

This is just pure 100% speculation (not based on any insider info), but can you imagine if Nintendo did something like...

Bayonetta 3 in October
BOTW2 in November
Xenoblade in December

Having those three games back-to-back would be pretty insane.

(For context: Xenoblade Chronicles X and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 both released in December. While Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition was a May release.)

It would be an incredible lineup. And that's not even factoring in Prime remaster, which sounds most likely to land in August or September if Splatoon 3 is likely to be the big summer game.

I don’t see Xenoblade 3 until the end of the year. Nintendo likes to announce Xenoblade games with at least 8 months from announcement to release.

And we have the rumored 2D DK game lmao. Where is everything fitting at?? We have Mario + Rabbids coming most likely H2 too.

Nintendo's 2022 lineup easily has the potential to become the best year they've ever had if, miraculously, all of these rumored and announced titles land next year lol. One notable game could slip into next year (besides BOTW 2, that's too massive) and it would probably still be their best year ever imo. Throw in a possible FE remake and it's almost comical how much money Nintendo could print next year

I think that Nintendo's lineup for next year could go either:

January: Pokemon Legends: Arceus (January 28th, 2022)

March: Kirby and the Forgotten Land

May: New Monolith Soft Project (Either Xenoblade 3 or New IP?)

July: Splatoon 3

August: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

October: Bayonetta 3

November: Breath of the Wild 2

December: Metroid Prime Remake

OR:

January: Pokemon Legends: Arceus (January 28th, 2022)

March/April: Kirby and the Forgotten Land

May/June: Metroid Prime Remake

July: Splatoon 3

August: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

October: Bayonetta 3

November: Breath of the Wild 2

December: New Monolith Soft Project (Either Xenoblade 3 or New IP?)

And that's just the Nintendo-published games! (Ok, Sparks of Hope doesn't count technically because Ubisoft will probably publish it, but still!)

What a great lineup ... assuming Metroid Prime Remaster/Remake is true

If the rumor that they intend to have another studio remake 2 and 3 later I hope that 2 receives some tweaks. For me personally Prime 2 is amazing until you hit the late game key hunt, then it grinds to a halt.

I could see it, although that also feels like a lineup that happens if the Switch Pro/2 is ready for next holiday. I'd imagine they'd want to have one of those going with the launch of the upgrade hardware if it's actually a 2023 thing. Like maybe Xeno slips to 2023 for example.

Its always difficult to predict next year Nintendo lineup, but here is my take:

- January: Pokémon Legends Arceus (confirmed)
- February: TLOZ WW + TP HD (announced at TGA)
- March: Kirby and the Forgotten Land (+ Triangle Strategy for the west)
- April: nothing (RE Outrage, though its not published by Nintendo)
- May: Splatoon 3 (spotlight at february direct, then its own direct by early/mid april)
- June: FE 4 Remake (announced at february direct)
- July: Kid Icarus Uprising HD Remaster
- August: Nothing (M+R2 is published by Ubisoft in the west)
- September: Bayonetta 3
- October: next Mario 3D team project.
- November: Metroid Prime Remaster and Zelda BOTW2

6 new games (Legends Arceus, Kirby 3D, Splat 3, Bayo 3, Mario 3D team game and Zelda BOTW2), 4 remasters (WW + TP, KI Uprising, FE4 and Metroid Prime) and at least 3 third party exclusives (Triangle Strategy, M+R2, RE Outrage).

Early 2023: Xenoblade 3, Mario Kart 9, Next Good-Feel project.
Late 2023: Pokémon Gen 9, New Tomadochi, New Mario 2D, Metroid Prime 4, Pikmin 4.

You think Nintendo would release 2 big open world games back to back months? I guess it's possible, but they only have 2 open world IPs and I would think they may want to space them out a little more. I'm thinking maybe Zelda in Sept, Bayo in Oct, Donkey Kong or Mario in Nov, and Xenoblade in Dec.

Should we be expecting a full remake of Metroid prime or a remaster like twilight princess/windwaker HD. I wanted to hear others opinions and what they would like to see with the first game potentially coming back this year.

0
I would much rather just have a simple remaster of all 3 Prime games than anything else.
It's dumb to remake just 1 and then expect fans who haven't played the games before to go from 1 straight to 4.
I agree especially with prime 4 coming in the next couple of years it would be odd to only have the first one available on switch before 4.

0
we were tolk it's more like WindWaker HD and Xenoblade DE. those game used a lot of the same code as the original releases with new renderers

Mostly a remaster with maybe a QoL fixes. I'm expecting it to be xenoblade DE minus the epilouge
I didn't think about that DE was kinda in between a remake and remaster. It would be cool if they added some of the cut content bit I doubt they would. Maybe we could get remastered music like DE too.
