My faith in humanity was already low enough before I clicked that link, christ you'd think I'd know better by now..
Lmao, I love Gundam, but that presenter is kinda horrible, and to have it sponsored by Sheath is so out of place I feel...

Took a break from Nier to finish up Skyward Sword HD. Still get a little teary eyed at the end. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but as the 25th anniversary celebration game, this game is packed with Zelda fan service (not that kind). There are call backs to iconography of earlier titles. It answers questions that you weren't expecting like what the deal was with Shiek's harp in Ocarina of Time or why so many things in Hyrule are named Hylia. That last shot during the credits at the music reaches its apex, simply perfect.

And you may ask yourself
Where is that large Switch pro?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful Switch pro
same as it ever was

true story I used to fucking hate this song

like really just hate it, mostly irrationally

and then one day, I just… realized it was mixed in the 80s, and in most of the contexts in which I had heard it, the bass was too fucking loud

so I listened to it on normal human speakers and some combination of that, my roundabout rationalization, and who knows what the fuck else made it so that I could listen to it without hatred in my heart

which lead to me loving it, oops

probably also helped that I saw Stop Making Sense a few months later and gave them bonus points for being fucking weirdos

Remain in Light and its African influence makes it a top tier album.

This explains why I didn't have much luck when I reinstalled Pokemon Go upon hearing trims were in the game since those forms are one of the holes in my extended living dex. Good thing I decided to pop onto this page of the thread or I still wouldn't understand exactly how I was wasting my time.

/Furfrowns hard at GF and Niantic
Yeah, if you were there during the initial Furfrou event, you might have been able to pick up everything besides Heart trim via a combination of Go and the GTS, but they haven't really been available since the event ended and especially not now that the season has changed over. Prolonging the Furfrou drought would probably be one of the biggest practical effects of Sword and Shield only getting the BDSP/Legends Pokémon instead of all 900+ (aside from the whole, "there are Pokémon you can put into Home that you can't take out" situation), which it will get frustratingly close to regardless. Especially because any reprieve provided by Niantic will probably be temporary at best (though, on that subject, the exclusion of Heart Trim specifically makes me think it's probably going to come back for a bit around Valentine's Day).

Fortunately, the only other Pokémon impacted by this mechanics change is Shaymin, which is both Mythical and already in BDSP, so it's not going to impact the GTS and will be fully available once the BDSP/Legends Home update rolls out.

No joke, this is how I became a Lady Gaga fan. Her early music isn't really my thing but she tried to turn every single thing she did into performance art and the more it turned people off the more she cranked up the weird and I couldn't help but appreciate the hell outta that.

Welp, just got back from the parts store. I've been complaining for a while that I'm usually the only person wearing a mask in any given building, and this place is no different. It's been an irritation because of the "us-vs-them" mentality that masks have created, but whatevs. I'm trying to not hate everything and everyone these days, so I power through. But there's this one guy in the whole shop who isn't a dudebro chad and actually knows his stuff and he's the only one I like to deal with, but he was gone two or three months ago, shop said he was on vacation. Good for him. I had been sorta winding down on work lately so no big deal, there wasn't much for the guys who were left to goof up for me.

Well today I went in because I need a set of critical bearings for my trailer, because I'll be hauling a car to LA in a couple weeks and it needs to be safe, and yay, my guy is back! So I ribbed him a bit for taking a long vacation, aaaand he said real quiet:

"oh I wasn't on vacation, I got covid. some customer gave it to me."

Keep in mind, this guy never wore a mask, fucking ever (just like everyone else around here), and his gripe is someone else gave it to him, as though it was entirely on the other person and not at all due to the complete lack of precaution he took. So, trying to be nice and not being a naturally confrontational person I asked, "Well you're okay at least, right?" and he said "Barely, I was on my ass for weeks and it put my wife in the hospital for days, she still hasn't recovered."

. . .
So to recap: never masked. Covid-positive customer came in, "gave" it to him, and his wife, who he lives with, has yet to recover, and he's back to work, talking to and mixing with everyone, and HE STILL ISN'T FUCKING MASKING UP.

Jesus CHRIST WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE HILLBILLY DUMBASSES??? SERIOUSLY, FUCK

* ahem *

Anyway everyone please be considerate and wear a mask when you're around other people, regardless of what your political or religious leaders suggest.

Hi Fami, sorry I have been away. Unfortunately I have had a whirlwind of a couple of months personally and just when I thought I was on the other side of the mess, my family and I got a visit from COVID. Luckily everyone is doing good. Those of us that tested positive were already vaccinated so while we had a crappy few days, it certainly could have been a lot worse. I know that I am most likely preaching to the choir with this, but please get vaccinated if you haven't already. It makes a difference!

I hope everyone has had a great holiday season so far. I haven't touched my Switch too much recently. It looks really good collecting all of that dust! Jokes aside, just Mario Golf and N64 games mostly these days. I can't wait for a great 2022 here!

BTW- nice winter designs for the website!

Nice to know everyone is doing fine.

Update on my PS5 journey.

I got my PS5 on December 2nd, and since then, I have beaten both Spiderman games, GoW, HZD and its DLC. Not bad for a month. That being said, I started Ghost of Tsushima and I felt like I hit a wall with the genre. Need some time our from it. Nothing wrong with the game per se, just that games that play too similarly in a row takes a toll on you.

To finish up, awesome console, I'm just going back to my Switch for the variety. PS5 will be my secondary platform.

Nice to hear from you Josh! Sorry to hear about the COVID visit, but I'm glad everyone is doing well. Hopefully we can see a bit more of you next year

I've beaten Spider-man Miles Morales (already beat the first one on PS4), Deathloop, and Ratchet & Clank. Having a good time. I've just picked up Returnal and I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. It's kicking my ass to be sure, I'm not even convinced I'll be able to beat it, but the controls, music, atmosphere, and gun play are all top notch.

I've also just started Death's Door on Switch which is also very good. Two late contenders for my top 5 of the year, tbh

Yeah, I didn't mean to say the games are bad, but too similarly is kinda tiring.

Oh, I didn't interpret it that way at all, just wanted to jump in with my own PS5 journey. I totally get being a little fatigued by those games. I couldn't get into HZD. Maybe I'll try again one day. I want to try Ghost of Tsushima at some point too, but I can't muster the enthusiasm at the moment

jooooosh check out my direct thread bullshit, it's threadmarked

I think the Direct tribalism will be very healthy and cool unironically
That's because #TeamFebruary people have the emotional intelligence to not start frivolous arguments with the riff-raff in #TeamJanuary. When one side is just so obviously correct it makes conflict completely unnecessary.

A new direct will be nice. I was plenty sattisfied with the last one. I want to see more kirby, and my dark horse dream is for a new mario and luigi rpg

I say thank you as a public health worker. Most of the last two years has been filled with people shitting on us, politicians trying to shut down our departments, and untold death threats. Luckily I’ve never gotten anything specific to me in regard to direct death threats like some of the more public facing people in the states, but my offices have received about 5 bomb threats over the past couple years. Most of us just want to help keep people healthy and safe so it’s nice to get some favorable shout outs.
Big respect for all that you and your colleagues do, you folks are incredible and I'm so sorry that assholes make your lives difficult. So many of us deeply appreciate your hard work and the risks you undertake for us.

Well, looks like I have plans for Valentine's!

I'm usually in the habbit of checking Serebii regularly, but for this event I was a couple hours or days too late. No biggie. I've been working on filling the holes in my collection for long enough that I've learned these opportunities always come back around eventually. It's just a question of how long you'll have to wait and whether you'll happen to pay attention when they do.

For example, I'm okay leaving the completion of my Vivillon set until the release of the X/Y remakes instead of working the GTS like a madman.

In theory you could deal with Vivillon pretty passively now that you can request specific forms on the GTS.

Well that's credits on Bayonetta 1. Crazy, unique experience for sure. Can't say it's forgettable with all its craziness and wackiness. Really excited to start part 2 soon

I...huh. #TeamJanuary really do be fighting a losing battle, huh? At least that Direct Mini had the announcement of both the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC for Mario+Rabbids and the Switch port of Tropical Freeze.

It is like being a Chicago Cubs fan. You are tormented for years but every year when the calendar flips to January there is that new feeling of hope in the air!

At least you have a recent World Series. We Mariners fans live in perpetual hope the new rebuild will be a success, and then get another lost season. At least this year we were a game out of the playoffs. Only 21 seasons since the last playoff berth!

Hmmm. Put like that, it sounds like something I'd jump on as soon as Furfrou's form are taken care of and the empty spots reserved for missing Vivillon patterns stand out so much more in my HOME boxes. I'll have to look into what mon I can reasonably mass produce makes for a desired trade token.

My rapid test came back negative today!

I'm still taking the PCR test tomorrow and should have those results by Sunday. I'm not out of the woods yet, but this is a promising start. I also have not felt any symptoms yet.

All I think we will get in January is an overview trailer or a Pokémon Presents to a Twitter drop of a small game to fill February. Other than that, Direct on February.

I've had a lot of success with white flower Flabébé, but that is likely to drop in value when it can be bred in a current game.

There are also a few ways that it's relatively easy to get a bunch of shiny Pokémon, like the Ultra Wormhole minigame in USUM or just playing Pokémon Go on a community day.
