just found out my healthcare provider is not serving my area anymore and I now have to carve out a few hours to drive to another city and back anytime I need to do simple things like blood draws that I used to do in like 15 minutes here in town

like how on earth can a country that generates billions of dollars in income tax ALONE, not use it for the betterment of its people. same with the UK, £591 billion raised last year from income tax, national insurance contributions and VAT, where the hell is all that money going, am i misunderstanding something?

because the corporations in that country want to make their own billions, and have a shocking number of politicians in their pockets to shoot down any attempts at creating a public system.

hell even when we got "Obamacare," which half the government (and a large percentage of citizens) screamed would be something that'd skyrocket taxes and crumble the healthcare system, it ended up just being a government-subsidized system that was still required to operate through the services of the current insurance corporations, just at a slightly lower price to patients because the government was paying part of it.

also during the pandy the ex-CEO of one of the insurance corporations came clean saying that his and several other corps had been coordinating to spread misinformation about all nationalized healthcare systems to "train" the american people into believing it would be a far, far worse option than paying a ton of money to them for the bullshit care we do receive.

And it's worked, btw. I know a lot of people who genuinely believe that people in Canada, Australia, and Europe are all basically unable to see doctors, unable to get life-saving care, unable to schedule surgeries, and that they fly into the USA to receive healthcare. And when provided with evidence to the contrary they believe it's fabricated propaganda.

I'm not even exaggerating for humor or anything.

America is fucking dystopian.

Bummer. We had to worry that our main provider in the area wouldn’t take our insurance. The big corporate entity has essentially bought out every practice in the county and tried to stiff the insurance companies on their rates. The whole thing is such a joke where the healthcare systems and the insurance companies either fight or collude at the expense of their service area.

Whats ridiculous is most of the rural hospitals are already subsidized at higher than cost to ensure Medicare participants have access to healthcare and there are even newer provider types being implemented to increase access with greater over-cost payouts. These are the areas usually against subsidies and nationalization. I’m not against this mind you but would make more sense to just make it single payer at cost for everyone.

Can we just frigging ban dextero already

Can we just frigging ban dextero already

These are the folks that bought CharlieIntel at some point (a big COD fansite, they got scoops and all that before everyone else) and ran it into the ground.

I was listening to the Retronauts Podcast episode about Akira Toriyama and they threw in a tidbit about how he didn't use a pen name because he thought his manga would sell so poorly that it wouldn't have mattered if he was anonymous or not but when his work became a smashing success, he regretted not using a pen name. lol

They also mentioned that the Demon Slayer author uses a pen name and that very little information about them is known. People don't even know their gender. That's pretty crazy that someone with such popular work can remain anonymous, especially in this day and age. If they were an American author, I feel like someone would have ratted them out long ago.

It's pretty wild that the person beyond the number 1 film of the Japanese box office is totally unknown. I guess it allows them to do things like eat at a restaurant without being bothered or shop in peace. I get it. I love Demon Slayer immensely, so whoever they are, I appreciate them.

I love it when privacy and personal space get respected.

Sheeesh, that explains a lot. I too would like the American healthcare system in the face.

Hello. Whoever reads this have great day <3

This and other dull quotes you‘ll find on the Facebook page of my aunt and I‘ve to admit, they actually do something for me.

As a german, those stories of US "healthcare" are on one hand kinda amusing, on the other fucking terrifying how some countries allow their residents to be fucked over by what i see as a basic human necessity without any reason (not that there's any reason, especially a good one, to begin with).

I mean, it's not perfect over here, but compared to the US, we're living in Elysium.

The problem here is we've built a culture where even things like basic human necessities are seen as something people don't deserve unless they work their asses off in order to afford them. Every time conversations about healthcare or affordable housing or food access come up, the accusation is that the people who are without those things simply aren't working hard enough, and if they're given any aid it'll be "taking" food, property, money, etc from people who have "earned" it. We're a culture that morally judges people based on their income, and if your income isn't sufficient to afford the basics, it's seen as a moral failing on your part and you should work hard to correct it (i.e: get a better job). And it's not just politicians and the wealthy who see it that way, a shocking number of regular blue-collar people see it that way too, because they've been trained for generations to believe it. It's absolutely infuriating and disgusting and I'm embarrassed and angered by this place I'm supposed to consider home. I want better for America! Fuck! 😅

Not Foghorn Leghorn, but in a similar vein:

I assume these are just what Kingdom Hearts is like.

I didn't even see the profile picture at first and I still knew who that was gonna be because who the hell else would even try to tackle Goofy after him? 🤣

Absolute fuckin legend

This will always be my favorite ProZD Goofy video even with stiff competition.

(Just a heads up, there’s F-Bombs for anyone who clicks on this.)

I used to drink coffee with sugar, but switched to pure black and can never turn back anymore.

Gasp Cygames waited too long so someone else decided to fill the gap of a certain style of game in the west

Personal work-related vent:

How deep down that rabbit hole do you want to go? 🙃 Hell, you just need to scratch the surface to see how much is being sent to Israel, who is then able to provide free tuition and universal health care for their population. Funny how taxes do end up getting used for those services, just not in any meaningful way you can access them 🙃🙃🙃

I don’t know why this latest meme of Foghorn Leghorn yelling at random anime characters is so good, but this one is my favorite so far lol.

Toked a little for the holiday last Saturday and was watching non-stop Looney Tunes cartoons after I got home from shopping for vinyl records, so his voice is ringing particularly loud here 😂

Wtf the Alan Wake band is in Control? This game jus keeps getting better and better ....
I still need to play Control one day, but also I just finished up Chapter 4 of Alan Wake during my replay and goddamn that stage concert sequence is still so much fun. Love to see Old Gods of Asgard keep popping up in this universe

I liked teachers a lot more before I worked with them.

(In the United States; I know it's better elsewhere)
