oh please I’ve eaten more cursed things for breakfast
okay, so my first attempt was not my greatest work…I don't even know what could be done to make my good boi cursed. Mirror reflect? Given human eyeballs on top of where his should be? Canonically evolve into Hisuian Arcanine?

You're good - I was kind of joking. As much as I love Souls games I know they're not for everyone, and I want fans of character action and more fast-paced games to still get things they like, too. Having variety is always a good thing, even if I lean toward one direction personally.I wrote a big reply expanding on my problems with the trend but realized it probably came off as unnecessarily negative lol so I just deleted it. I like the From games. What i played of Stellar Blade was good, like a 7/10 so I wouldn't mind trying it sometime but probably on sale.
Yeah but I was tryina be cute and funny, not genuinely upset peopleoh please I’ve eaten more cursed things for breakfast
Just finished eating breaner. Food tasted as good as it should, so I'll call it a success.
Tonight, I made an attempt at making breakfast for dinner. The pancakes were too lopsided and I think the eggs were a little too scrambled. Haven't eaten em yet, but I'll keep you posted on the taste factor. I may or may not share this with @Suswave's cooking thread.

If I had a nickel for every time a video game forum imploded a few months after changing my avatar, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but...If I'm not mistaken this is only the second ever nonstandard variation of the Brofield Fami avatar, wow
My work laptop is constantly telling me I need to reboot it to apply updates and I'm like... nah, how about I just wait until you literally force me to? We both know that's what happens every time.ASUS keeps asking me to update my laptop and I just keep ignoring it. I'll get to you when I'm done using it for the night, ASUS.

Actually cool that you spelled this out because I think I'm the opposite! Like in Dark Souls 3 I would frequently zone out in fights because I felt like I was just waiting and waiting and waiting for those windows of opportunity.if it's slower and more deliberate and has lots of momentum and weight to attacks, and minimal attack chains/combos, then I'm really into it. But if combat is focused on a lot of small hits that don't feel impactful and has what I'll call 'fighting game combos' - like if there's a menu with a big list of different attacks that all require different button combination inputs like 'to do this combo, you hit A, A, B, X, do a circle on the left stick, then X+Y' kind of stuff - then I'm out.

Congrats, D36!Last month's report is right here!
Yo yo yiggity yo, y'all! Time for another Resolution Roundup from the W O H O Y GOD!!!
1. Get a new job! Earlier today, I finished an interview for a full-time security job. I was definitely nervous, but I think I did as good as I could. They said I should hear back within 3-5 business days, so I should hopefully hear from them before the end of the week.
2. Get a car! I finally passed my knowledge test after 4 tries and I'm starting my first driving class on Thursday. I'm still reading the driving manual to keep my mind fresh on the rules of the road.
3. Lose weight! I seem to be losing weight, even if I wound up skipping a few days in a row. Still doing the routine of 30 minutes on the bike and 100 weight lifts. I've been trying to limit how much I've been eating and I think it's helping a little, I'll keep at it for now.
4. Get a girlfriend! The urge to ask my crush out has been getting stronger with each passing day, but I've been mulling over how to do that without creeping her out. Didn't I say all this last month? Guess that goes to show how little progress I've made in this regard.
5. Beat 5 games in my backlog! ............
Still on FF7 and I might pick up Stellar Blade after I beat it; I've been enjoying that game's demo so far. Still haven't finished those other 2, btw.
6. Save enough money to move out! Due to irl responsibilities, saving money this month was nigh impossible, most of my savings were spent up. Part of the reason I've been trying to get a new job is so that I can better save money. Here's hoping!
7. Read more!
Conclusion: It's been ups and downs for me, but I think I'm on an upward trend, this month. I think I might focus less on 5 and 7 this month, I've already limited my gaming time to weekends and I'll try to read more during my lunch breaks at work. All in all, I'm somewhat optimistic!
Totally understandable - different strokes and all that! Dark Souls 3 is quite a bit faster than DS 1 or 2, even. I love fighting defensively, so that’s my jam - you get into a rhythm of dodging, blocking, and learning the enemy moveset first, and then once you have that down you start to find space where you can do damage back.Actually cool that you spelled this out because I think I'm the opposite! Like in Dark Souls 3 I would frequently zone out in fights because I felt like I was just waiting and waiting and waiting for those windows of opportunity.
Have you played Child of Light? It's an emotional side-scrolling platformer RPG that's on the shorter side, like 10-15ish hours. Pretty artstyle, too.Okay Fami, I need a recommendation. I’m currently deep into several RPGs and having a great time, but I haven’t experienced a really good emotional story that’s gotten to me in a while, and I’m kind of craving that next. I’ve got my eye on ‘Until Then’ coming out late May, but any other recommendations I could check out in the meantime?
Preferably something shorter, maybe more of a VN although if possible with some adventure game elements to it.
I haven’t - heard about it before but never actually played it. I can add that to the list!Have you played Child of Light? It's an emotional side-scrolling platformer RPG that's on the shorter side, like 10-15ish hours. Pretty artstyle, too.
Wishing you the best with that new job, D36!They said I should hear back within 3-5 business days, so I should hopefully hear from them before the end of the week
Bloodborne is the one Souls-like that I really really really want to play because of that aggressive combat style and the Lovecraftian veneer, but it still won't manifest on a system I own. Port Bloodborne, please!Bloodborne favors aggression a lot more as well
I'd say that Monster Hunter Rise hit that balance of methodical and swift for me. You have moves/combos you can use depending on how big a window the enemy is leaving open. But even in those games combat feels much more deliberate and has something to it that differs from the more character-action style
Yeah, with you there. I prefer the more methodical action games a lot to the character action ones. Stringing combos like I’m some kind of fighting game god isn’t my style, haha. Probably also why I never really got into the DMC games, tbh. Bayonetta is a little different to me, especially Bayonetta 2 felt more ‘casual’ in its approach to combat, which suited my skills and style well.Totally understandable - different strokes and all that! Dark Souls 3 is quite a bit faster than DS 1 or 2, even. I love fighting defensively, so that’s my jam - you get into a rhythm of dodging, blocking, and learning the enemy moveset first, and then once you have that down you start to find space where you can do damage back.
Of course that doesn’t always work (cough Malenia) and Sekiro is a very different beast, and Bloodborne favors aggression a lot more as well. But even in those games combat feels much more deliberate and has something to it that differs from the more character-action style.
YES, exactly this, which is why Rise works so well for me. I think it strikes the perfect balance between a more methodical approach and pulling off slick moves with ease thanks to the Wirebug skills.I'd say that Monster Hunter Rise hit that balance of methodical and swift for me. You have moves/combos you can use depending on how big a window the enemy is leaving open.
