StarTopic Monolith Soft Development and Speculation |ST|

It's from the recent artbook, no idea why they didn't source it.
Remember to cite your sources kids, otherwise you might end up in the second-half of a hbomberguy video.

NintendoEverything at least mentioned it was in the artbook, so I imagine it's just up to the writer as to if they care enough to cite a basic-ass source.

Monolith's action project has a 99.0% chance of becoming a new IP, Xenoblade related has a 00.7% chance, Zelda related has a 00.2% chance, and the Dragalia Lost reboot has a 00.1% chance.
Has anyone talked about rumors of a Dragalia Lost reboot by Monolith? If it would happen, it'd be by Cygames like with Granblue Fantasy Relink.

no. it's wishful thinking. it's an IP co-owned by CyGames that died ungracefully. why would Monolith be bringing it back? especially when MS got their own action rpg they could bring back

Dragalia Lost Reboot is a joke. Sorry.
Cygames has probably abandoned their partnership with Nintendo and Dragalia will not be coming back unless they find a new developer.

Does Nintendo still own the Cygames stock they bought just before the announcement of Dragalia Lost?

I don't think the IP is coming back anytime soon and if it does Monolith won't be involved, but I could see something else come out of the partnership, especially with Cygames increasing their console presence.

Nintendo still owns a 5% share of stock in Cygames. There's been no news of them selling either. I'm not sure if this counts either, but DeNA has a 24% share of Cygames's stock, and Nintendo has a 12% share of DeNA, so they own more shares indirectly too.

No sources are given, which is normally the minimum. But then, I've long since given up expecting the minimum from Nintendo-town.fr.
I rarely went on their site, but this time Google suggested to me the article and I was quite surprised to not know about it, but they know I like Monolith, lmao.

Looking at the official website conceptual graph , I'm looking forward to monolith's new ip, but my gut tells me that the conceptual graph is just that conceptual graph .The end result could be very different, a specific example is Metaphor's concept art from 2016, which is very different from what it looks like today.

I mean there is still red haired elf lady in the final game

there is nothing gut-feeling about this. this is the reality of things that we've been trying to bash into people's brains for over a decade. concept art on hiring pages n-e-v-e-r (don't pull out any "but this ONE time!" exceptions, please for sanity's sake) represent the actual exact thing they're hiring for. it's an eye catcher. that is all.

It also doesn't help that, while there's ideas that are reflected in them, Monolith Soft's early concept art is usually wildly different from the final game regardless. I'm willing to guess that there's going to be a lot of elements from their concept artists that'll be reused at some point or implemented in tangential ways, but it's usually never 1 to 1.

Personally, I really like the "Japanese medieval" style art in the concept art on the official website, and I hope they try to stick to that style in the final product. Of course, I'd really like a medieval style setting with big robots (if there is one), as I'm a big fan of Japanese animation myself, and big robots are my dream!

But anyway, I can't stand Takahashi's Nietzschean tendencies because I'm a Hegelian and I chose to read the script he wrote critically lmao.

Do you think the action game will be related to Xenoblade (like Xenosaga) or will it be a new IP? I'm sure whatever it is, it will be released alongside the Switch 2. They have supposedly been working on it since 2017 or even 2016.

Jeez, I know it’s just Pachinko/casino game but Konami didn’t have to go so hard for the design of the machine and the cutscenes.

throw Konami in there as well

The concept phase maybe, but even if the action game exists I think it entered full production late 2021 at the earliest.

According to the new spec discoveries in the Hardware thread, Monolith Soft will be in good hands
They're pretty forward thinking with their tools. I wouldn't be surprised to seem them jump on RT or mesh shading sooner than most. MS's level design would really benefit from them

Hey. Don't know where to put this but I have an extra code for the Xenoblade 2 DLC that I got with a physical copy of Torna. Here it is:
Hidden content is only available for registered users. Sharing it outside of Famiboards is subject to moderation.
you should always put stuff like this in a hidden tag so no bot scrapers or randos could snatch up codes

I have been doing some research and this could be the first year without a video/trailer for anything Xenoblade/Monolith Soft related since the announcement of Xenoblade at the E3 in 2009. Every other year since 2009 there has been a Xenoblade video or trailer. The last video there has been of Xenoblade was on April 19, 2023 (Future Redeemed trailer) or in the Nintendo Direct on September 14, 2023 where they announced the Noah and Mio amiibo.

If there is nothing from Monolith Soft in the Nintendo Direct of June, then they will definitely announce their new game at the Switch 2 presentation and I think it will be the action game. It will probably be the biggest and most ambitious game they have made to date due to the time they have been working on it, the amount of employees they currently have and the hardware of the Switch 2.

I'm very excited.
