News Grand Theft Auto VI trailer 1 is officially live early because leaks; see threadmarks

2025... why am I not surprised. I AM surprised actually, what do 2K have for 2024? Just annual sports titles? Maybe Switch gets some PS3 Rockstar love?

Game looks fun btw, gonna look pretty on my successor OLED screen. Pity that it's gonna miss the launch window.

2025 is definitely surprising. Why announce it now if it’s still two years away?

I haven't enjoyed Grand Theft Auto since San Andreas, but that trailer was fire and actually has me cautiously optimistic about the game! Lucia is EXACTLY what I want out of a GTA MC.

I managed to miss all of GTA5 but loved Vice City, so my interest is there.

Okay really cool detail from a Florida native! During the scene showing the string of islands, you can see an unused bridge that breaks off on one end. That's a real place in the Florida Keys!

What's the name of this bridge?
Not sure of the name, but I know the history. It used to be part of US 1 but they built a new bridge close by. The old bridge was left standing, presumably to not mess with wildlife. I went to Key West with my family ten years ago and I remember thinking it was super weird. Didn't know what it was until later.

Edit: Went on Google Maps and found it. It's called the Old Seven Mile Bridge.

There goes my thread idea of whether GTA VI launch should be a concern for the Switch 2 launch success
Concern? This is definitely coming to the successor. 2K is literally the closest third party to Nintendo right now. If we'll have day and date ports, which we most definitely will, most will come from 2K.

Visually looks really really nice but not much to see other than the setting and the main characters which we already know.
Hopefully trailer 2 doesn't take a whole year to come out like it did for GTA 5 cause I think that'll be the really exciting one.
Game does seem super cool though, very excited for it. Will likely be one of the best games of the generation.

Rockstar cinematics have been in game for as long as I've been playing them, so I imagine the gameplay itself is going to look pretty close to this. Unless some of these were just made for the trailer.

guys apparently since they had to upload it so fast there was an error! They got the 2 and 5 mixed up, its actually coming in 2052!

after that trailer I doubt it comes at all tbh

maybe on switch 2 pro

maybe gameplay and cinematics mixed together? It's early so hard to tell
I honestly think a lot of that is probably real ingame footage, but it can probably be scaled (or downgraded) some if needed.

I mean, big majority of PS5/XboxX titles look this good. Don't expect any less for next years Control 2, AC Red or Star Wars Galaxies. Either this machine will start its life with recent/day&date games like Switch did (Doom, Wolfenstein), or become a retirement home to late ports like Wii U did.

It will be interesting to see the Steam deck try to handle this game tho.

I don't think the current Steam Deck will be able to play it either. The system can maintain Elden Ring at 720p/30fps on the top end, and Steam Deck power is roughly what we are expecting the Switch 2 to be at as well.

Switch 2 will be more efficient, better battery life, and offer DLSS but that isn't enough to compensate for how massive this game looks.

We literally had comments like this at Dragon's Dogma 2 threads. Well, Switch 2 has got to handle something, or Nintendo shouldn't bother launching it all.
It will handle Nintendo's own games and smaller third party titles wonderfully. I would be very surprised if GTA 6 came to it though.

Why though? We've seen similar challenges conquered for the current system. GTA VI will probably be downgraded, but it can come.

The density of how many NPCs there are and the rumor that 70% of buildings can be entered feels to me nah, unless Switch 2 is vastly stronger than what we are expecting.
that's not even a horsepower problem but a streaming one. what we know of Drake, it's something that can be done. NPC density doesn't tell us too much, it's what's under the hood that's important. and NPCs is something that can be scaled as well

The environments look nice, but the more they push for realism in character models the more unnerved I get looking at them. Personally I would love to see Rockstar translate the series artstyle into the game.

I firmly believe if you gave the game to one of Nintendo's internal studios they would effectively downport the game to Switch 2 in a playable and enjoyable state

I just don't see Rockstar doing that however, it would take way too much manpower and resources which they seem to be using to get this game across the finish line right now.

"Smaller third party titles" would remain on Switch 1 due to its install base. And if the Matrix thing at Gamescom is true, Nintendo is promoting the system as a graphical powerhouse and they'd want the biggest ones on their system.

Nintendo is literally publishing 2K/Rockstar's games on Switch physically, that's the first door they'd knock. 2K is currently the closest third party to Nintendo.

How is it any different than customizing it for lower end PCs?
