I would recommend everyone in this thread to go and watch the recent DF video about UE5 titles at 720p on your TV.

Even with the Youtube compression, the image quality holds surprisingly well. Now imagine these same exact titles running at this resolution at 30 FPS with more shimmering due to post-processing being applied before DLSS and more artefacts on the edges of objects due to the lower frame sampling. I think this could be a good level of expectations for visuals on Drake with the information we currently have at hand.

I'm extremely doubtful that most Switch 2 games will aim for the level of detail present in some of these games as there's no real point with the resolution likely so low.

(A lot of UE5 games should really stop aiming for this level of detail in general as the PS5 is way too weak to do heavily detailed nanite geometry)

The question is whether the Switch 2 can run Lumen High without destroying performance to the point of needing to strip away vital attributes of the game. The Switch 2 will likely be pretty bad at software RT (and hardware lumen is even more demanding than Lumen Epic which is way too demanding for the Switch 2) so a lot of compromises may have to be made.

If there's an announcement tonight, then most of us would miss it, but here's hoping Nintendo is a bit kinder on our sleep schedule.

That doesn't mean much, really. The Switch reveal wasn't leaked until hours before, and the person who leaked it first it's not an insider anymore.

I might need a bit of information correcting but the person who originally leaked the Switch announcement wasn't even sure when it'd happen in the week. They just said "Switch Announcement soon" and hours later the announcement happened.

A few more hours to wait to know then. I was very hyped tbh but now it seems like the wait is not over.

Yes, you are correct. It was not something concrete. But even if we are looking for something more vague like that, we could have it an hour before the reveal or not having anything at all.

The leaker themselves was very good in the lead up to launch, getting a whole bunch of stuff right. Without someone as ingrained in Nintendo to get information, we're basically shoved right up shitcreek. Literally all we can do is wait.

Same. Itโ€™s a whole lot easier to be indifferent to the hype cycle when thereโ€™s a generally agreed upon < 1 year away launch.

Iโ€™m happy to see that there are interesting things to hook into here tho. The shipment stuff gave new life to the thread.

I wish we could trust the dimensions that were shared to be 1. Joy-con 2 as many assumed they were, and 2. precise / accurate. Piecing together potential sizing of the device ahead of launch, and then having some mock up actually be accurate would be a treat.
