News 35 minute Pokemon Presents August 8th at 6 am PDT

You can't unsee this now.

I'm starting to dig it though.

Yep, got what we expected. Glad to see some new web series though, I might check them out.

Aaaaand I'm still a little mad that they're charging 35 for the Expansion Pass instead of 30. Performance I gave up on ever getting better without a proper next-gen patch the moment the first updates for the game dropped. You don't ship a game where you half (or worse) the framerate of animated objects so up close if you can get a functioning frame rate. They can't/don't know how to fix it.

I thought that was fine. I'm really excited that the DLC is coming out in just a month. That'll be a perfect thing to play until Mario Wonder comes out.

DLC looked really good (well it didn’t LOOK really good but you know what I mean). I’m one of the 10 people that actually really enjoyed the game despite the performance so I’m glad to have an excuse to jump back in.

Didn’t care about anything else though. 20 minutes of nothing.
No mainline game annoucment? I guess the next mainline game will be announced next year or when are we expecting it?
Why would they announce a new mainline game when the SV DLC didn’t have a release date yet????? I though we were against TPC pumping out a new game every year, what happened?

Mainline games are usually announced the same year as release, no? I wasn't expecting any huge announcement like that today.

Despite what certain areas of the internet would have you believe, a lot of people really enjoyed Scarlet/Violet - you’re not alone!

Like yeah, the game is graphically ugly and performance is lacking, but it’s still fun to play if you can look past that.

Walking Wake / Suicune = T Rex
This Thing / Raikou = Brontosaurus
Next One / Entei = Triceratops? Stegosaurus?

They have been so unexpected for me that I wouldn't be surprised if Paradox Entei ends up being a pterodactyl at this point. I'd love it.

If the Raikou one is also Electric/Dragon, I could definitely see Pterodactyl Dragon Entei lol.

A close friend of mine just reacted to the DLC part of the presentation: "the dlc is soooo ugly"
Me: "well it's gen 9"
Her: "it's ugly"
then she adds that everyone at her job agrees and that this direct was quite lame.

Now guess where my friend works?

I wonder what the Mew meta is gonna be for the Mewtwo raids. Physical Mew can run Swords Dance/Leech Life for sustain, while special Mew can run Nasty Plot/Pollen Puff to take advantage of Acid Spray and has the option for support

Pure support is probably some combo of Life Dew/Light Screen/Struggle Bug/Taunt/Mud-Slap/Acid Spray/Helping Hand

The showing is rather quick paced... I'm anticipating a new game somehow...
I felt the same way but it seems like they are just expounding upon the DLC to end the show.
basically nothing
No new announcements huh? I guess we really have to wait for Q4 2024 for a new Pokémon game, even if it's a spinoff. Agh, it's gonna be a hard wait.

I hope DLC has even more new pokémon or their formes. So far they're behind SwSh expansions.
No mainline game annoucment? I guess the next mainline game will be announced next year or when are we expecting it?

Sword / Shield: announced February 27, 2019
BD / SP: announced February 26, 2021
Legends: Arceus: announced February 26, 2021
Scarlet / Violet: announced February 27, 2022

To anyone who was expecting a new mainline game announcement, why

I feel like very few people who say this actually expect nothing

Anyone who says "I expected nothing and was still disappointed" was expecting something. Always

That being said, huge disappointment we still don't even have RBY on NSO yet, let alone GSC and RSE

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't think they are coming to NSO.

I still hope they come to Switch in some form though. And I also hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see TPC giving up the revenue.

Hahahaha, anyone read the infos of Dipplin?

It's actually two of those little dragons in one apple. One is acting as the head and the other is the "legs/tail".

Basically, this:

I'm very tempted by Struggle Bug and Acid Spray, seems like a winning combination to me.

Fake Tears should also work if people find an OHKO strat, but I bet Mewtwo will be juiced to avoid those.

That was pretty mediocre. I'm impressed the DLC will be done by the end of the year-- I wonder what 2024's big game will be?

The new Raikou is badass.

Very glad I have smartened up over time and not wake up for these showcases lol.

New Pokemon evolutions are pretty cool though.

I don't see Nintendo being cool with that at all. They are very clearly done with emulated standalone virtual console styled releases. The few times we've gotten stuff like that (shadow dragon, mario 3d all stars ) have all been time limited. It seems that it's nso or bust. I'm sure they'll come eventually, they would be a big add for nso that they will want to be able to tap into. Shit they cut deals with Microsoft, MGM, Eon productions etc, to get Goldeneye. That was a moving heaven and earth tangled mess to get xleared and you seem to think getting pokemon, which they have far more control of is impossible? And they don't need to do home support if it's such a big deal/sticking issue with fears about trade manipulation. No reason they can't be disconnected from the modern games.

Yeah after February’s trainwreck i settled my expectations today. The NSO games were my big W today, everything else was as expected

Including SV DLC somehow not including a battle facility. Guess that’s a RIP to postgame content after SWSH had a damn fun tower. Sad!

That PMD copyright in Feb was a huuuuuuge troll though. No clue what that meant…

Gonna guess the Mewtwo set is Psystrike/Aura Sphere/Shadow Ball/Flamethrower. Cool moves, hits the three types that resist Psychic (Dark, Psychic, Steel)
I'm very tempted by Struggle Bug and Acid Spray, seems like a winning combination to me.

Fake Tears should also work if people find an OHKO strat, but I bet Mewtwo will be juiced to avoid those.
Mewtwo does learn Mist naturally, so I could see that as a bonus move

Giga troll option would be reacting to buffs/debuffs with Power Swap or Guard Swap

I'm not waiting for the next mainline game, I'm waiting for the next Pokemon Mystery Dungeon title.

The last original title was released 7 years ago (Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon), and the remake of Rescue Team is now 3.5 years old. What is going on with the PKMD series!?

So it's not nothing, it's just not the specific thing you wanted

Nintendo, unfortunately, doesn't get final say in this situation.

I, personally, don't see what revenue split from NSO would satisfy both TPC and Nintendo to include the Pokemon games on the service. It would have to make up for the potential lost revenue of stand alone releases for TPC, and it would have to not be too significant a portion of total NSO revenue for Nintendo. I'm no market analyst, but I don't really see a percentage that would make both parties happy.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, but the Pokemon games just getting dropped into the existing NSO program with no additional fee doesn't fit TPC's typical behavior.

I don't even think the save state, cloud save, or rewind stuff actually matters much, it's all money.

OK I'm a bit late but here's my takeaway from the Presents:

things I liked:

hell yeah TCG for Game Boy
the stuff they showed about the S/V DLC sold me, I'll play it
Detective Pikachu isn't for me but I am glad it exists

things I didn't like:

those free to play games must make a lot of money
the worst part of scarlet/violet continue to be raids IMO

anyway, my SO and I both said, after watching: "we gotta stop watching these live" lmao

Just leaving this here. Also Archaludons bridge form looks specifically like Driftveil Drawbridge

The DLC looks good, but the whole part 2 being "travel to a new academy in the middle of the ocean as an exchange student.... But wait, at the end you will return to Area Zero in Paldea!" Feels a bit pointless? Like I would rather have an expanded Area Zero with some creative biomes than having another academy with almost the same biomes from the main game.

Also, Rotom stick? Really? The frigging phone already floats by itself when you take a selfie in the game... That seems like the most random feature they have added lol.

Paradox Raikou looks so silly but is good an unique, the only thing that I don't like is that its head looks too similar to the modern one compared to Walking Wake.

Dripplin and Archaludon looks good, also is nice to finally see the Tera alt forms.

The only thing I liked was the SV DLC and that was still headache inducing with that frame rate, sad state of affairs continues for Pokemon.

Again, they untangled the gordonian knot that was Goldeneye because they knew it would be a big deal for NSO. They had to get Microsoft, MGM, Eon, and probably had to pay Pierce Brosnan for using his likeness on the boxwrt and in game, maybe even for the other actors. I remember they had to cut all skins from the other bonds actors when the game was being made because they would have had to pay them too.

Goldeneye was definitely a pricey add but it made sense for such a big game. The mainline pokemon games are definitely in this category.

Hell they are paying Sega for an entire console.

Also Nintendo absolutely has some say in this. They are one of the owners of the franchise and publish the games in most parts of the world. They solely own the trademarks. Let's not act like they don't have a lot of leverage here.

The n64 app didn't get Goldebeye until it had been out for well over a year and already had a good chunk of the n64s most iconic games already. It's still really early on into the gb/gba online lifecycle. They'll come because it will be a big deal and subs will spike when it gets announced.

Paradox Raikou and Cobalion are Raging Bolt and Iron Crown

Mysterymon was Terapagos all along. The one on the key art is Terasatal Form

You can trade with GLs

Mass outbreaks of Pokémon will happen in both Paldea and Kitakami, including those added in the DLC, though future ones may be DLC-exclusive

More activities featuring Mew and Mewtwo are coming

Archaludon info, learns new move Electro Shot (Electric-type move, like Solar Beam for rain)

Dipplin info, learns new move Syrup Bomb (Grass-type move, continually lowers enemy Speed for three turns), new Ability Supersweet Syrup (Intimidate but for evasion)

For me I wasn't expecting a new mainline game, that's way too soon I would think. Rather... I was hoping for a new mystery dungeon or other spin-off like Legends, anything really. But I'm okay, it's not like there is nothing else to enjoy or play.

I am playing Pokémon GO and sleeping through Pokémon Sleep currently and maybe I'll give cafe a try as well.

Still I was kinda let down especially after the last one I expected they would have something more this time. Then again maybe I am making the mistake comparing Nintendo Direct to a Pokémon Presents.

Dipplin's ability might be a problem lol.

And it's an unusual choice to give a Dragon/Steel type an Electric type signature move.

FYI Legends is 100% a mainline title

personally I care way more about the NSO stuff than I would a new game announcement

it's been ages since i've played a new Pokemon game, I got too fed up with their refusal to implement any sort of difficulty options combined with stuff like the exp share thing

Yeah, it's kind of a monkey paw curl for people demanding Venusaur return after Charizard

From the screenshot Electro Shot looks like it boosts SpA on the charge turn a la Meteor Beam, so I can see why they wouldn't want it to have STAB

I am absolutely pairing Dipplin with a Regice that knows Blizzard, Zap Cannon, and Focus Blast.

I have to admit that the new batch of info sold me on the DLC, i was skeptical and uninterested before but now i'm probably going to buy it. Admittedly i didn't much care for the rest of the Presents but the DLC info really carried it. B tier presentation imo.

DLC looks promising. Poochyena is in so I was already sold lol. I feel for MD fans (me) after the SC logo for earlier this year lol.

Seeing some reaction on social medias make me wonder if some people were new to Pokemon Presents or how TPC announces stuff? The last 3 years, all summer (june-august) presents there been only updates to games announced on Pokemon day. 2020 was the weird year they announced NP Snap.

Also, this is more a generalized observation, I get that there are multiple teams/outsourced making pokemon games but wouldn't it be better if they dont announce anything? Optimistic me would say "hey they are taking their time" lol.

I love Giraffe Sauropod Raikou so much :D

Also glad the DLC probably wraps up this year, that means the anime doesn't have to stall out stuff too much anymore.
