The patch mentions that the performance of some characters and vehicle customisations are adjusted, as well as the invincibility for certain characters. Hopefully a datamine could provide some insight on those changes, especially the stat ones.

Thank you for reading.

On a more positive note, all of the city tracks in this Wave are really good. Like, best in the game good.
Graphics wise, unique models and Animations and overall music I agree. Though I really don‘t like the layout of most of these courses so far.

Is it just me, or is the lightning a LOT more frequent? I swear every single time I went underwater in Koopa Cape I got hit by lightning lol

If we’re gonna get Mushroom Bridge anyway, why include Moonview? Bizarre pick, could’ve had another N64 or 3DS track. Or, of course, Airship Fortress.

I really thought Vancouver Velocity 1 would be the last lap, but I can't complain too much. The track still slaps.

GCN is back on the menu boys!!

Probs DK Mountain AND Dino Dino Jungle
What's crazy is that none of the potential GCN options feel likely.

Mushroom Bridge would feel so redundant and boring in the final wave, and right after Moonview

DDJ and DK Mountain share music (and theming). No tracks have shared music aside from one very obvious exception that people would have rioted if it wasn't included in the BCP.

And no other GCN tracks are coming to Tour.

I still think the most likely option is that a GCN track was cut. We'll just have to wait to find out! At least this will keep predictions more exciting!

The sound design on these tracks are on point. Especially the rush of the waterfalls on the last curve of Koopa Cape, I love it so much.

Honestly feel like these waves are getting better and better. The retros are all solid, but I think I might legitimately like the Tour courses we got, not in a "it's good for a cell phone track" way. The antigrav on Koopa Cape and Vancouver really helps

Wait I got it wrong. Moonview actually replaced the spare nitro in Wave 6?

46 - Daisy Cruiser
48 - Los Angeles Laps

51 - Unknown Tour City
52 - Koopa Cape
53 - Sunset Wilds
54 - Unknown Tour City
55 - Bangkok Rush
56 - GCN (?)
57 - SNES (?)
58 - Squeaky Clean Sprint

61 - Vancouver Velocity
62 - Maple Treeway
63 - Moonview Highway (originally a New Course)
64 - New Course (?)
65 - Athens Dash
66 - GCN (?)
67 - New Course (?)
68 - Wii (?)
I guess that would explain the lack of info for the final nitro, it doesn't exist.

Finished the Cherry Cup. I think I like Feather more, but LA Laps and Koopa Cape are the highlights. I actually think Vancouver Velocity was my least favorite of the three new Tour city courses? Still good, but Athens was a pleasant surprise with a unique environment and LA did a great job feeling really different each lap.

Still, this is a strong set of courses in both cups. Good wave!

56 - GCN DK Mountain
57 - SNES Bowser Castle 3
64 - Piranha Plant Cove
66 - GCN Dino Dino Jungle
67 - Piranha Plant Pipeline
68 - Wii Rainbow Road

Interesting wave. I really still have trouble believing we’re not getting a “new” track like YI and SCS were though. And PPC and PPP in the same wave…

Quick reactions-

Athens- It was alright
Daisy Cruiser- Classic, great addition
Moonview Highway- Kind of felt boring?
Squeaky Clean Sprint- That was a lot of fun
Los Angeles Laps- Loved the variety
Sunset Wilds- Ok, but could have been better
Koopa Cave- Still a great track
Vancouver Velocity- Might be my second favorite city track.

Also, Kamek is my new main

I think the more "huh?" thing would be both DK Mountain and Dino Dino Jungle. Very similar themes and the same song - my heart would be broken if the final wave had two courses with the same song in it!!

It's a shame Wiggler got added after heavies lost viability, Wiggler Wiggler would've owned in the old meta

Finished Feather Cup, all good tracks! I did get terribly lost on the bathroom course the first lap but then got back into it.

As for the mystery about the last Wave, I'm gonna hope we get a brand new GCN remake not in Tour. Boswer's Castle please!

Well a few thoughts.

Tour is 100% done now.

The three character models and overall animations for the new characters look a lot lower quality than birdo which is a shame.

The tour tracks were amazing, Athens and sqs are contenders for top 10.

Sunset wilds was a horrible choice since they didn’t even bring the point of it over, the worst port in the bcp by far.

Koopa cape is still good just scaled really small for some reason, it feels very short.

Moonview is empty, toads turnpike has more exciting traffic which is a shame.

Daisy cruiser is chill and definitely the best retro.

Overall good wave, but the changes they made to the retros sucked and the tour originals absolutely carried it.

It leaves me with mixed feelings.

Overall ranking:
  1. Daisy Cruiser (10/10). This came as a complete surprise because I've never raced it before, but this track is amazing. My favorite retro track of the entire pass.
  2. Vancouver Velocity (9/10). Yep, this track rules. My only complaint is there's no more falling leaves in Stanley Park.
  3. Athens Dash (9/10). This barely feels like a Tour track in the best way possible.
  4. Koopa Cape (8/10) . Chaos. Just chaos. A lot less generic than I thought, and a really nice track to look at.
  5. Los Angeles Laps (8/10). This is the best looking Tour city track. Really love the beach and oil field sections.
  6. Squeaky Clean Sprint (8/10). A pretty good nitro track. This will probably go up on my list as I play it more.
  7. Moonview Highway (6/10). It's kinda boring? Especially the city section. It's completely empty half the time. No challenge.
  8. Sunset Wilds (4/10). The first bad track since Wave 2. Not a fan of the colors (too much orange), the layout is incredibly simple, the music is just okay, and the defining feature of the track (the gradual sunset) was completely cut. A huge disappointment.

I thought it was weird to ditch the glider ramp in Koopa Cape for no real reason, but I agree that Koopa Cape overall just feels cramped (I was also hoping that they would bring back the koopa head sign at the beginning, but I can live without that).

I love how Kamek's horn is his talking sound effects from Yoshi's Island. Such a great little detail!
YES! I love it too! What an amazing surprise.

Can't say too much about the DLC courses as I love all of them (lol) but definitely happy to finally have Vancouver in 8 Deluxe. Squeaky Clean Sprint is also a very enjoyable new course.

Yeah it’s way too tiny. Feels like it was made for 6 racers and not twelve.

Feather Cup is much better than Cherry imo. Koopa Cape feels a bit strange and neutered (no spinning electricity in the underwater tubes removes challenge), Sunset Wilds is whatever, Vancouver's last lap is boring. LA Laps is the only one I enjoyed mostly from start to finish, although it's easy to get lost in the oil section the first time.

Yeah, this wave feels really odd in a lot of ways. Really great highs, but also really disappointing lows. Like Kamek, Petey, and Wiggler are all great (Wiggler honestly low key winning me over with the anger animation stuff). But then the courses feel all over the place:
  • Athens is really cool, but I don't love the layout and Tour's graphics feel like it's holding back something even cooler.
  • Daisy Cruiser feels awfully short and again, Tour really isn't doing it favors with how low poly the ship looks at the beginning, but glad to have it back.
  • Moonview has the vibes, the music, the layout, and none of the traffic. Which is also just indicative of MK8's philosophy of making you hit hazards as infrequently as possible and it's seriously hurt the road tracks
  • Squeaky - Legit won me over and feels like a step above the rest.
  • Los Angeles - Avoided a lot of the pitfalls of other city tracks but the sights weren't super interesting to me and again layout was lowkey killing me.
  • Sunset - It's semi pretty, but it feels like the second weakest GBA track only above Sky Garden of the BCP. It just feels pretty lame and i was promised a sunset.
  • Koopa Cape - It's a cool track, but feels really short compared to the original and I wasn't like head over heels for it like others were I guess. Also again, Tour graphics do it no favors.
  • Vancouver - Love the first half of this track, then the last half is pretty standard city design. But done remarkably better than most and with fantastic music, and that opening is like legit fantastic at least, so a highlight.
Overall, kind of good, but feels a bit overly carried by the character inclusions. There's a lot of good music in this wave too. But the courses themselves, I'm only really vibing with 3-4 of them.

My early rankings:
1) Athens
2) Squeaky Clean
3) LA Laps
4) Moonview
5) Vancouver
6) Daisy Circuit
7) Koopa Cape
8) Sunset Wilds

I think this is the first wave the Tour tracks were the star of the show.

This wave... kinda pisses me off

Petey sounds like a pig now lmao, Wiggler has a medium frame for no reason, Sunset Wilds is easily my next monthly complaining to friends in group chats like how I did with Toad Circuit... and yeah...

Idk man, so many unnecessary changes in places

Rankings:
1. Squeaky Clean Sprint (9.5/10) - Fantastic track, music is great, visuals are great and the course design is really fun.
2. Daisy Cruiser (9/10) - One of my favorite tracks from DD, just an all around faithful remake with great music. Really glad to see this one made it.
3. Vancouver (9/10) - My favorite city track from tour, music is divine. Later laps are not as good as the start but the track feels really good and just looks super cozy.
4. Moonview Highway (8/10) - Banger remix and great visuals. Biggest problem is the lack of traffic and speed it moves at compared to Wii, ends up feeling really empty and worse in every way, feels a bit better on 200cc. Still a great track from Wii and glad to see it here, especially with the Bomb Cars back.
5. Athens (8/10) - Kinda ugly in some parts but it feels really refreshing compared to the other city tracks, really fun track with a good amount of variety. One of the better city tracks.
6. Los Angeles (7/10) - One of the better city tracks, but not a huge fan of the city and theming. Each lap is varied and interesting though, pretty ugly textures in certain parts of the map though.
7. Koopa Cape (5/10) - A Wii classic that continues to get worse everytime it's remade. Feels small and shrunk and the tunnel section just sucks compared to the OG Wii track. Wish the remake was better but I still love the music and vibes of the track.
8. Sunset Wilds (3/10) - Considering we've known about this track for over a year it's probably one of my least favorites of the pass. Compared to the other GBA tracks it lacks the one thing that makes it unique with the changing time of day. Just feels like a wasted pick when we could've gotten the superb GBA Bowsers Castle from Tour. Track plays well but it's just super disappointing.

Feather Cup > Cherry

All three characters are great and I'm glad we got these three. Still not a huge fan of Kamek's voice, also do not like Petey's new voice. Wiggler's animations are great.

Overall decent wave, expected to like it a lot more then I actually did. Very much looking forward to the final wave.

Vancouver is better than Singapore but it feels like Singapore in that it's a flashy night course you can kinda just autopilot

The hockey rink is cool though

Just some initial thoughts after playing through both cups

  • Athens Dash - Wasn't expecting much, but I think this is one of my favorite of the city courses. Definitely the one I got the least lost on during my initial run.
  • Daisy Cruiser - I remember liking it in Double Dash but found it kinda boring in 7, and I still find it pretty boring in 8 Deluxe. Cool that the tables still move though.
  • Moonview Highway - Sorta the inverse of Daisy Cruiser in that I remember not liking it much back in the day, but now this one really hit for me.
  • Squeaky Clean Spring - If Yoshi's Island wasn't a thing, this would probably be my favorite of the "original" courses in the Booster Course Pass so far. It feels like a spiritual successor to 8's version of Ribbon Road, and that was one of my favorite tracks in the game.
  • LA Laps - I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. It had some interesting set pieces, but I can't say it made a strong impression as a whole. My hunch is it'll grow on me over time
  • Sunset Wilds - I've been waiting for this one and hoo boy is it a mixed bag. Pros: Very refreshing to get GBA course that doesn't feel insultingly short after Boo Lake and Riverside park; Cons: How do you forget to make the sun set in Sunset Wilds? Holding out some hope that they fix it in the next wave like the cars in Coconut Mall, but I'm not holding my breath.
  • Koopa Cape - I actually like how they've changed the pipe every time this course has reappeared, and making it into a halfpipe you can trick off of was a pleasant surprise. The start of the course feels narrower than I remember it being for some reason, but other than that, I don't really have any complaints. A very solid addition.
  • Vancouver Velocity - People were hyping this one up and I get why. In particular I think it has maybe the best opening segments I've seen so far from a city course

Wave 5 is another great set of DLC (might be my fav so far?) Definitely the best Tour tracks yet (finally happy to play a version of LA Laps after hearing that music so long ago lol)

Daisy Cruiser and Koopa Cape are welcome returns. I totally forgot how cool Moonview Highway was, I'm really glad it got in for multiple reasons.

Squeaky Clean Sprint I immediately loved. I don't know who at Nintendo came up with this idea but it's really pleasant. It really feels like they captured the Ribbon Road scope and vibe with the aesthetics, track design and music for being in a bathroom area.

Unfortunately they didn't understand the assignment with Sunset Wilds. Maybe they'll update it in Wave 6 but who knows. I don't hate the track nor have a ton of nostalgia for it but it is for sure the weakest.

Very cool for Petey to return in like two decades? Wow. Kamek fits right in as he should've in MK64. I forgot how Wiggler sounds in Mario games......very cheery.

Anyway, back to online!

  • Athens feels like a mess to me. I dunno, a lot of the turns and tricks just don't mesh well. The change up compared to other city tracks is very appreciated, but I think this is gonna be similar to Bangkok in that it didn't translate over as well as I was hoping
  • Cruiser is still Cruiser, great track
  • Moonview needs way more traffic, but otherwise it's still fun. Second half is pretty weak though, music aside.
  • Squeaky is incredible, the easy highlight of the wave. Absolutely love this one.
  • LA is great. Nothing too crazy, but it does everything right and has its own personality to it. Feels like a better version of London, in a weird way.
  • Sunset Wilds, despite missing the sunset, is still quite a bit of fun. Liked this more than I was anticipating, probably my #2 GBA track we got in the BCP.
  • Koopa Cape is still fantastic, unlike with Coconut Mall I don't mind the smaller size at all here, at least on an initial few races
  • Vancouver's route is kinda weird, but overall I like it a lot. Might be my favorite city track, I'll have to think on that.

I'm really confused as to why people think Koopa Cape and Daisy Cruiser are small? They seem completely normal to me?
Same here. I don't notice any difference in track length. The underwater section in Koopa Cape feels marginally shorter because of the antigrav speed boosts but that's about it

I really love this wave. It's definitely top 2 with Wave 3 for me. Need to play more tomorrow but early thoughts:

These are by far the three best city courses. Athens and LA don't even feel like city courses (in a good way). And Vancouver is so, so good. Super cool to see my city in Mario Kart!

Daisy Cruiser, Moonview Highway, and Koopa Cape remain awesome. Yeah I wish there were more cars on Moonview and wish Koopa Cape was scaled a little larger, but overall I'm thrilled.

SCS is, shockingly, as good as Yoshi's Island. WOW! Was not expecting that.

And Sunset... poor Sunset, getting cooked absolutely everywhere online. I really like it! Yes it's disappointing there's no transition, but it still looks great and plays really well.

And the MUSIC this wave. Incredible. MK8D music is always great, but Sunset, Moonview, Cruiser, and all the tour tracks are on another level!

Cleared the cups. Feels weird knowing i'll only be able to do this one more time; but time for thoughts on the current wave!

  • Athens Dash - By far the ugliest city course in the DLC, and somehow the grass isn't the worst part! The low poly trees and flat buildings are more distracting here than anywhere else. The track itself is great to race on though, following the exact prediction I made when it dropped in Tour! Overall I like it, but the visuals are super distracting, yuck.
  • Daisy Cruiser - Made the jump to 8DX very well with everything from the 7 and Tour itterations staying in, plus the extra floatie Goombas recycled from Singapore. I see the arguement for the original being best, being more difficult due to the pool being out of bounds, but it's great fun regardless.
  • Moonview Highway - I'm a 200cc kind of gal, my go-to whenever i'm playing my own rules, so the decreased traffic density is good for me in this case. The cuts are fun and weeving through traffic is still a bit challenging at that speed. The music in the city segment is HEAVENLY; best music track in the wave.
  • Squeaky Clean Sprint - A really fun new course! Love the variety in shortcuts and alt routes; definitely up there with Ninja Hideaway and Yoshi's Island for me. Shame we only have one more of these coming now, they've been a highlight of the DLC selection.
  • Los Angeles Laps - Really fun, even if it didn't take the exact route I expected (1 -> 2 -> 3; we got 1 -> 3 -> 2). The extra glider rings in Lap 3 kinda match the glide over the stadium in Lap 2 though, so in the end the swap makes sense. Gonna be a contratian on the music and say I don't mind the change in instrumentation; though the lack of vocals makes it feel like something is missing.
  • Sunset Wilds - Definitely the low point of the wave, maybe the lowest point of the DLC since Sky Garden. I always knew it'd be too basic for this far into the DLC, but without the unique visual element it's just really mediocre. I get why on a techical level; 8 hasn't done dynamic lighting on that level before; but it's still a huge shame. Really should've swapped it for Yoshi Desert; the better of the two GBA deserts in Tour (I might feel the same way about Riverside and Lakeside in a few weeks).
  • Koopa Cape - More fun than I anticipated. Also seems to be a hot take, but i'm glad the glider ramp in the river section was cut; kinda undercut that section of the course before. Shame the underwater tube had all difficulty sucked out of it once again, but on 200cc it does feel pretty thrilling to rush through anyway.
  • Vancouver Velocity - Honestly a tiny bit disappointed they took the safest route here; 1 -> 2R -> 3. The track undeniably peaks in Lap 1 with the suspension bridge; so I wish they had Lap 3 transition from 3 to 1R for an extra thrilling reverse finale. Music is as great as ever at least.
See y'all in two hours for my impressions on Piranha Plant Pipeline in Tour!

1. Athens - Really enjoy how much of an adventure this track feels like. Each lap feels quite different. The music is fantastic.
2. Daisy Cruiser - The Goombas in floaties are a cute touch. The track loves really pretty. I love how much brighter the dining room is and the NPCs in chairs
3. Moonview Highway - uhm...where are the cars?! Fantastic music but feel quite empty
4. SQS - Exceeded expectations. Still not sure about the music. Love all the alternative paths that open to you when you trick off the toilet geyser. The drain section is longer than expected that cool.
5. LA Laps - Looks beautiful and the music has improved from Tour. For some reason doesn't quite resonate with me though
6. Sunset Wilds - Where is the setting Sun?! I'm really disappointed by that. However, the course still looks great and the shy guys make for a fun obstacle.
7. Koopa Cape - Always loved this course and continue to love this course. I like the addition of antigravity and the halfpipe in the underwater section.
8. Vancouver - First 2 laps are fantastic, but the 3rd lap is a bit anticlimactic. Still one of my fave cities.

I like how we all just forgot that Piranha Plant Pipeline is coming out in a few hours (except Mondo). It kinda feels like Nintendo is trying to bury the track.

I'm happy to see in this thread that people think Daisy Cruiser is good and that no GCN course was cut from Wave 6. Double Dash!! is probably the Mario Kart game I played the most, so I want as many tracks from that game as possible to be included.
