June direct predictions:

  • Mario & Sonic Shovelware 2024 reveal trailer - October 2023
  • New NDCube project reveal (maybe Rhythm Heaven) - October 2023
  • F-Zero GX Remaster reveal - November 2023
  • Metroid Prime 4 release date reveal - Late Spring 2024
  • Baten Kaitos release date reveal - September 2023
  • Pikmin 4 third trailer
  • Everybody 1-2 Switch gameplay reveal trailer
Updates:

  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks of hope - DLC info trailer
  • TOTK - Expansion Pass + TOTK Zelda and Ganondorf amiibo reveal trailer
That's pretty much it, TTYD HD is not going to be released in 2023 because Nintendo has turn based RPG called Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD releasing in this year, and don't expect a new 2D platformer from Nintendo to be revealed until after they released their published mickey mouse platformer game.
So no big holiday game, then?

Nintendo is publishing neither of these games
Monloithsoft originally developed the Baten Kaitos games before they're bought by Nintendo, the remasters are being developed by Bandai Namco with assistance with Monloithsoft, the micky mouse game that I am talking about is Disney Illusion Island but I made a mistake, there used to be information about that game being published by Nintendo now it isn't anymore.

Games on sale:

  • Metroid Dread = Prime 4 reveal
  • Super Mario Party = Mario Party Superstars 2 reveal
  • Skyrim = TES VI Switch 2 exclusive reveal
  • FE Three Houses = FE4 remake reveal
  • Hyrule Warriors AoC = Hyrule Warriors: Age of Rehydrated Ganondorf reveal
  • Portal Collection = Portal 3 reveal
  • Okami HD = Okami 2 reveal
  • Astral Chain = Astral Chain 2 reveal
  • Persona 5 Royal = P3 remake and P5 Tactica reveal
  • Bravely Default 2 = BD3 reveal
  • GTA Trilogy = GTA 6 Switch 2 exclusive reveal

It's all coming together...
Xenoblade IIII let's go

Where do I need to go back to this thread? a nintendo direct is planned this month?? there were rumours??? sorry i got addicted to totk i am nothing anymore

Funny, they're both very much possible today. I feel TimeSplitters collection will release close to the launch of the new game and SC collection is kinda rumored. Hell, Namco has just delisted SC5 from storefronts, there has to be something cooking for the franchise.
Or Soulcalibur VI bombed so hard they don't want anything to do with the franchise anymore.

Plus SCV was shit, so it isn't a huge loss.

Even if MonolithSoft is helping out, the market overlap between Baiten Kaitos and Paper Mario is pretty dang slim. Nintendo has no vested interest in the success of the game besides keeping their partners happy, I don’t really see the correlation to Paper Mario here.

ScVI also sold more than V with at least 2 million copies, it was going to have a world tournament too but covid hit. This series is cursed unfortunately, and it's the only major FG series I'm interested in currently unless they reveal an MvC4

Switch ain't gona get SC5 anyway. Our best bet is collection of 1-2-3, all online enabled. I think they started to re-release their PS3 era remasters starting with Sympohnia, so the next stop is logically SC. Nick from Xboxera isn't sure if this rumored remaster is a collection or a single game but whatever it is, I hope SC3 is included and once planned Dante guest character is restored.

Nintendo will tweet: "No Pikmin 4 is not the last game on Switch, so tune in tomorrow for a 40 minute Nintendo Direct presentation so most of you can figure out whether or not Tears of the Kingdom was the last game you've bought for your Switch."

  • Metroid Prime: Membership Cancelled - take control of Samus Aran as you battle to stop galactic threat Jeffrey Bezos subsuming the universe. Download now on the Nintendo eShop
You joke, but this would go so hard
That's the trick. This community always expects an announcement this week ;)
Something something every week, eventually correct.
if it's this calendar year it opens, if it's later it closes
I’m curious, what do you think would close if MP4 is this year and opens?
It'll be interesting to see what effects delaying Tears of the Kingdom had on Nintendo's broader plans for Zelda. By late 2018, Nintendo had enough Zelda in development to give them an annual title until 2022, which was presumably TotK's internal release window all along.

You can assume they've once again factored a lengthy four or five year period before the next open world title, and have remasters and spin-offs planned accordingly. If we're lucky, one title will be a new 'portable' or 2D title.
I wonder what the Zelda release for 2024 is gonna be. I feel like that’s still too soon to port one of the 3D games, and there isn’t a very wide pool of spin-offs to choose from.
New Super Mario Bros 3: Brings back the coin gimmick from 2, using an updated version of NSMBU's artstyle.
Don’t threaten me with a good time
- Nintendo Digital Summer Showcase announced for June 22nd, the showcase is entirely focused on 2023

-Pikmin 4 is the opener, the trailer show several world areas, one for each captain to rescue, more dog mechanics and enemies are introduced. launch date is reminded.

-Koizumi welcomes us to the showcase, thanking the audience for the support. it's time for the first news reel!

-P3R and Tactica are confirmed for Switch, no more details are shared about the game. a reminder of Deca Police and MK Wave 5 are the other highlights of this reel.

-This section ends with a brand new NdCube/EPD joint...Animal Crossing: Hiking Bootcamp. The Villager and co. embarks on a hiking expedition where the fun is guaranteed. the game itself is a very light survival simulation in an hiking camp, with various collectibles and collectipedia elements and minigames, a very cozy and casual experience out in fall 2023.

-Back to Koizumi, "so, what do you think for now? it's time to revive an old classic "snap"

-F-Zero GX HD: Max Speed is introduced. it's a remaster of the GC classic masterpiece, with enhaced textures and visuals, Online multiplayer, QoL and Story Mode improvement and bunch of never seen before tracks. out September 15!

-time for a new Nintendo News reel! Baten Kaitos collection, Splatoon 3 Side Order, Sea of Stars and a quick reminder of Pokémon DLC (with a very short in game glimpse of the new legendaries) are the highlight of this section.

-a new set of Amiibo is introduced. Totk Ganondorf, Zelda, Rauru and the Hiker Villager will be out between the end 0f 2023 and early 2024.

-Time for the last Direct section, and it's dedicated to Mario. Koizumi celebrates the global success of Mario movie and introduces a couple of new games. Mario Super Sports Mix is the first one. beach Volley, Windsurf, Motorboard, Street Basket and Kit surfing are the initial games, more will be added via free DLC, out September 15.

-Paper Mario TTYD HD is the second game, a faithful remaster of the original GC classic, it looks glorious. it's out October 20.

-"it's time to say goodbye until the Next Direct, but before we go, there is one more thing that we would like to share with you. thank you for watching."

-Screen goes black...it's Mario Time! the game is visually a clear tribute to the original Kotabe style, but with his own personality. Bowser and the Koopalings are back with a dreadful and menacing power, the ability to change the world to their own will with a magical tool that reminds the switch form factor, but Mario and co will fight back. every world level map will omage in some levels the various Mario game artstyle of the previous entries, and every world map will have its own gimmick and challanges. Super Mario Universe is the 2D Mario glorious comeback, out November 10
This is probably the best one I’ve seen so far.

Actually it didn't. According to Scamco's fiscal report SCV sold 1.8 million by March 31st 2013.

It actually reached 2 million faster than SCVI even though it is the most hated entry in the entire franchise.

If you compare the two, than SCVI is a massive flop since they threw everything and the kitchen sink trying to revive the series. Well almost everything since they didn't bring the game to Switch and they continued to ignore the demand to have Link come back.

I can't agree with your assessment about them throwing everything to try and revive the series, VI is very clearly not a high budget title

Klefki is a very good idea for a pokemon. It’s based on the myth that keys and other things you lose go missing because fairies steal them. The keys aren’t part of its body; it stole them.
It should have a single sock dangling from its body as well.

I am not joking when I say one of my biggest hopes going forward is an announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Upheaval. There are so many cool characters they could use and AoC was low-key dope as fuck. Put over 80 hours into it.

I guess if there's TOTK DLC it will be announced in the next Direct. Not sure how likely it is at this point though.

Remember that Nate said a podcast episode surrounding his and MVG's reaction to the Xbox showcase would come before Direct predictions. AFAIK, that Xbox episode hasn't aired yet (I only saw them share impressions on Spawn Wave), so I still think it's next Tuesday, 6/20 @ 10am EST for the announcement, then a 6pm ET Direct on Wednesday, 6/21.

If a General actually does end up happening around that timeframe I'm registering a new religion where we worship @LukasManak22

Not that I'm on the expecting a direct this or next week train, but I don't think SGF would have much to do with when Nintendo decides to release a direct. IIRC there was a moment in past years where a direct overlapped with SGF (when it used to be more than a week or two) and Geoff himself clarified the direct wasn't part of SGF. Might have been one of the partner years.

I know you're only being realistic here, but I really hope they don't bring up Everybody's 1-2 Switch. That alone imo will almost completely tank the quality of the direct.

It's honestly not super realistic at all. Games like that aren't typically shown in Directs and they've barely acknowledged Stinky Horse's existence

Only way it gets mentioned in the Direct is if they're publicly apologizing for it

Opening the show with it makes a lot of sense. Quick trailer, two wave release windows, up comes yer man saying “Have you been enjoying your adventure in the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game? We hope you will look forward to expanding your adventure with the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Expansion Pass.“

In a recent Q&A Geoff mentioned that Nintendo is the only company that has not been an official participant. They seem fine with TGA but I think they like the summer time for themselves.

Nintendo dont want to participate at Summer Game Fest, simply because they want to use they own Nintendo Direct, Indie World Showcase, to market it own games or for it third party partners, they hate been mixed together with a lot of developer, they want to control, how they will show they games.

You the day this actually happens:

Nintendo doomed?

Atlus been Atlus as usual
There's still a chance it's coming to Switch. Tomorrow, the embargo should lift up and other platforms should be confirmed. If Switch is not confirmed, it will most likely be announced in the upcoming Direct most likely happening next week just like last year with P3-5.

If not...I give up lol.
