The pixel remasters were intentionally faithful to their original versions, so I don't see how that relates to dragon quest. Plus the (few) screenshots they shared from 2 years ago showed a person sitting in front of a message board by the castle entrance in Aliahan, which IIRC is not in any other version of the game. So there are changes already (and if I had to guess, the message board could point to something like a quest list).

The real question is whether they'll manage to integrate the game boy version content without making it exceedingly grindy, or whether there'll be weird omissions again like the pachisi tracks.
Forgot about that quest board. Curious to see what that's about.

I already was expecting not to have the monster tokens and Ice Dungeon returning from the GBC. I don't believe they've been in any of the versions since. Do we know why the recent versions removed the pachisi boards? I was never a big fan of those, but still, it's strange that they're gone in newer releases.

One more P5 spin-off before P3R, if this is true. Imminent probably means next week at Summer Game Fest or the Microsoft show, I guess. The more important question is, what kind of game this is going to be.

Gotta get that final squeeze of P5 before the next game. Would be cool if its a tactics game lol.

I don't really know what else they would do at this point, unless yeah it's a tactics game or something. Or Arena? Much as I love P5 though I feel like it really doesn't need more spinoffs...

Don’t want to get my hopes up it’s an Arc System Works fighting game, but I’m getting them slightly up anyway!

It's a real mystery lol. Fighting game, tactics, that weird Akechi rumor. Who knows? At least something interesting at the coming events.

I did it!! I finally finished Cold Steel 4!! Man this has been such a long and wild ride!!
I already feel so lost, bc these games were such a consistent ever present thing for me! Can't believe I finally caught up, that's like 9 full 50+ hrs long JRPGS, the fact this franchise has managed to keep me interested in it for so long says enough!

I'm glad Reverie is coming out soon + and Kuro 1 and 2 already exist somewhere out there LOOL

That’s awesome! Glad you are caught up in time for Reverie. Really looking forward myself to one last big adventure with all of the characters I love (some for 13 years now!) and to get a sense for what’s coming afterwards. There’s nothing else quite like Trails.

One of us! And yeah, CS4 is more like a 150h game. Took me a few months.

One last time with Rean. Than we have to say farewell to the old cast.

I started Persona 3 Portable for the first time today, and I'm actually liking the presentation style a lot more than I thought I would. I had only played P5, P5R, and P4G, so I was a bit hesitant when I saw that you don't get a 3D overworld outside of Tartarus. Turns out it doesn't matter that much, and also that I can explore things and talk to people more quickly with the top-down style.

Other than that, I don't have too many impressions yet. I'm going to pay special attention to fusing, social links, and maybe even grinding since I've heard this game can be punishing. I'm thankful that I can control all the party members. I saw that was an issue in earlier versions of the game. AI party members, at least in some other games I've played, always seem to find a way to screw things up.

If it’s real, I would bet it’ll be during the Xbox show much like how they had Persona last year. Can’t rule out SGF either, but they’re only a couple days apart anyway
I feel that SMT is one of the few third party RPGs Nintendo will fight for marketing rights, especially if it's a potential remaster of SMTIV.

Also do we have any indication on how well the Persona series has done on Xbox? If the rumors about the Persona 3 remake being revealed during the Xbox event are true, but the game is also coming to other platforms and potentially performs better outside of Xbox will Microsoft continue to pay for exclusive rights to marketing that might have little effect on sales for their platform.

I would imagine that the vast majority of Persona on Xbox was played via gamepass, so that makes it pretty hard to say unless there is some kind of concrete measurement for that that I don't know about.

As for SMT, now that Persona 3 Remake is heavily rumored to be at the Xbox show, you might be right and SMT might be in a Nintendo Direct/Partner/etc., since they've usually had them in Nintendo shows. The only main reason that I was thinking it might be Xbox is because sort of the main headliner of the trilogy (SMT 3, 4/4A, and 5) being on all consoles is SMTV, which is already on Switch. So is SMT3. So if it's in a Nintendo Direct all they really have to promote that's new is SMT4 and 4A, but if it's at the Xbox show then all of the games are new.

It could be on Xbox if you look at how Yakuza went there. They had a big event announcing 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 all for Xbox which led to Yakuza: Like a Dragon being re-revealed with its proper name at the Xbox showcase. Though I don't see them doing P3 remake and SMT at the same show unless all for game pass. What do you think?

That's what makes me wonder, that does feel like a lot. What if Persona 3 Remake is actually at Summer Game Fest, and SMT is at the Xbox show? Because announcing SMT 3/4/5 really feels more like an Xbox Gamepass kind of announcement to me like Yakuza, yeah. Or one of them could be a Nintendo reveal. Or, we're only getting one of the two announced now at all and the other is later. Who knows, but everything not-Nintendo is within the next week so we should find out soon.

They translated it a lot better to a portable form than people like to admit. It’s my favorite version of the game (so far.)

Yea you're right. Also we need to remember that Persona was in both Xbox and Nintendo shows when P345 happened so that could happen again for SMT with SMT 345 for Xbox (assuming real) game pass and then 4 confirmed for Switch at the direct. MS might pay to delay the announcement like last time.

P3 Remake is the only big ?. It would be a big reveal for the Xbox show but would they do day one in game pass? I feel like Sega and MS deals usually involve game pass for the "first big splash" then they go normal pay for game route for the next ones.

Atlus news basically confirmed before July 3. Either P5T, P3R (where R apparently stands for Reloaded according to a leaker on era) or SMT ports.

I would honestly be shocked if we didn’t get some sort of Atlus announcement between SGF and Xbox this coming week. This just adds to the idea.

So Atlus finally got another panel in AX after 15 years. I remember being present in their SMT panel back in 2008 when they announced P4 for the west, what times (when you didn't have a queue for the queue )

It’s still quite crazy to me how a single re-release absolutely lit fire to the franchise in the West
It was a deal even back then, I remember the hype

I still have the tshirt they gave at the end of the panel. Also funny thing one guy at the end pretty much predicted Persona Q

These expectations make the shows more interesting for me, ngl.

Ancient histoy now, lol.
Is Project Re Fantasy out of the question?
I haven't thought about that tbh. There is just no smoke around it. There's the official domain for P5T, leakers have talked about P3 Remake since last year and I guess a port of SMTV is logical to happen. Although it really is time for news on the Re Fantasy.

Yea, apparently development "reached its climax" in December 2020 and they said they would talk about it more after that Catherine remaster which was three years ago now. Should've had five-ish years of development by now but like you said, it's oddly quiet, no smoke. I'm sure the pandemic had a big effect on it though

I see a lot of Atlus prediction for SGF but… am I wrong or they aren’t in the partner list…?
I think the Xbox show is more likely, but Sega will be at SGF so I think that covers Atlus as possible as well? I don’t remember if they usually call them out separately or not.

Last year both Sega and Atlus were in the list
Ah, thanks for the clarification! In that case, I guess it's Xbox or bust. But between Xbox having the initial Persona reveal last year and the SMT combo to (seemingly) be Gamepass-focused that was always kind of what I expected, so we'll see what happens.

I wonder what RPGs we'll get from SGF then. Most likely things seem to be from Bandai Namco (maybe Elden Ring DLC if From is included? Or Armored Core?) or CD Projekt Red

This is neither here nor there, but I need GungHo to get Grandia III on modern platforms and not butcher it like they did with Grandia 1. That would be swell as a recent fan to Grandia.

Even if Atlus is not listened as a partner at SGF, P3RE is becoming more and more likely it seems.
Maybe they are really under the “Sega” partner this year?

I'm so behind on rumours but I'm ready to be disappointed by P5T and to find out that them posting about Flynn and Isabeau meant nothing!

They translated it a lot better to a portable form than people like to admit. It’s my favorite version of the game (so far.)

Mine too. There are dozens of us!

announcing a remake at the Xbox showcase of a game they just ported to the platform like 6 months ago just feels so weird

also feels inevitable at this point though

I would be shocked if the FeMC is in the remake. I can see P3P's "value" being ported so recently being the FeMC.

Atlus is weird.

I feel the same, sadly. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it's almost guaranteed that Atlus will entirely miss that the reason folks wanted a P3 remake was to unify the features of FES and P3P.
