StarTopic The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |ST| Linkin' Parts (Please Tag All Spoilers)

Does anyone else feel like koroks are now rarer? I’ve only met a dozen or so “I need to find my friend” ones, but otherwise, they seem few and far between in comparison to BotW. I’d be surprised if they were 900 again.
They definitely feel less common. I actually kinda like it. It feels like because the backpack ones have a higher payout, they've been able to spread all of the Koroks out. Given there's so much else to find now too, it makes finding a Korok feel a bit more special.

I could swear I found one under some random rock I picked up. Not one that's obvious like in the top of the trees etc. I was just exploring, picked up a rock and there he was. I remember thinking that it was weird because there was nothing to make that rock stand out.

Dude how the fuck do you fight Gleeoks. Trying to take on the Frost one and it is just kicking my whole ass. I have like 13 hearts and good weapons, too.
Have you upgraded any of your armour yet? I put off waking up the fairies a long time but it has been very helpful in not having 9 hearts lopped off of your health bar each hit!

Where do I find the beginning of the "find the fairies" quest? I have completely missed it, and have scoured the map never stumbling on any. They've hidden them really well this go round.

I like how when you enter a cave, there's a 50/50 chance of either finding a bunch of helpful resources or you encounter demonic beings

I'm pretty sure you can start the first one at Dueling Peaks Stable.

you need to hit all they eyes, and then, when he down, attack, attack e attack, and use a weapon that the monster is weak agaist, like Flame Gleeok use ice or water attack agaist him.

The autobild temporary parts economy is brilliant. Yes the game will make a vehicle even with missing parts, but it will cost you zonaite. But you need zonaite for charges and upgrades and you mostly find it in the depths. It's a fantastic risk/reward system that helps balance autobuild usage instead of leading to abusing it at every chance.

how many Zonaites i need for a battery upgrade? i have 196 and 26 large ones

i have 196 Zonaites and 26 large Zonaites, what i need to do, to upgrade my battery capacity?
You need to buy Crystal Charges using the Zonaite from Forge Constructs, then take them to a Crystal Refinery and exchange the charges for the battery upgrades.

Forge Constructs are mostly found in the Depths but there's also one on the Great Sky Island, and there's a Crystal Refinery both on the GSI and near Lookout Landing. One battery upgrade costs 100 charges.

300 normal Zonaite or 15 large Zoanite is the exchange rate for 100 crystallized charges, which gets you one bar of battery upgrade (1/3 of a full battery)
thanks, i see,i have to return to the Depths and the Great Sky Island and get more Zonaites

They do seem a bit more spread out now. The conspicuously placed rocks and the pond rings and the block puzzles are fewer, but in exchange there’s more variety in the puzzles. I like the ones where you have to build a roof for the little statues.

The proving grounds style Shrines are a lot of fun.
They were exactly my idea for improving the combat shrines from BotW. Love them a lot.

Given there's so much else to find now too, it makes finding a Korok feel a bit more special.
That’s a very good point! The added variety of Korok puzzles helps too in that regard.

Anyway, I loved the Goron story quest, but I just finished the Rito story quest and holy crap it goes so HARD. From the way up to the boss battle it was all wow moments from me.

Very gradually making my way to Rito Village; a couple of shrines to do before I cross the bridge to the west.

Edit 2: I’ll be incredibly sad to see this art style go. I appreciated how Nintendo experimented each time in the past, but there’s so much latent potential in this style as they move towards new hardware.
You and me both. The art style is actually why I want to see a next-gen patch for the game on the Switch's successor. I don't really have any complaints about how the game looks and runs on the Switch, but I wanna see what the art style can really do before they move on from it.

Not sure where to post this.

But i just realized that if there is an expansion pass to this game, the killer inclusion will be that you can share and save other people creations.

I am not that creative and will get the expansion day one just to try all those creations in my own game.

Koroks seens to be much spread out now and the fact the map is much more content rich, seen to make Korok difficult to find

I didn't really feel that nudge at all, and I wish it had been stronger, or at least that it was less important to head out that way - I think the opening part of the game would have been much stronger if I had followed that path. Maybe it's my fault for wandering off too soon, but I really felt like I was done with Lookout Landing by the time I left. The only nudge I remember was a character saying the Rito village is probably closest.

So 30 hours in I had no way to upgrade either armor or weapons, hadn't met Impa for the geogylph quest line and it was a real pain in the ass. I actively felt like I had missed something. Especially finding the musicians at the Eldin stable and not being able to start the quest to get the fairy because I hadn't yet visited the newspaper - that was just BS punishment for not starting with Rito village.
after about three days of playing i googled some guides on where to find hestu but he wasn't on the hill when i visited, presumably because i had already activated the tower?!

after finishing three dungeons i noticed he had turned up in lookout landing - but i wish there was some hint to notify me, maybe from the koroks

the NPC on the emergecy shetlter and Purrah point you to Rito Village

More than 45 hours in and I am still running around with Toga Link and I love it.
Did that until I got my beloved Sheikah armor. I refuse to wear anything else!

Also did you all know that apparently dyeing headpieces at Hateno dyes Link's hair now? Super sick! Kinda wanna see if I can dye the Sheikah mask white to have Link's hair match the other Sheikah.

Guys....oh my god, this side quest I did was AMAZING!! So many trials, obstacles, unique music and mystery. The reward is also something really amazing lol.

If you guys want a hint of the location of this lengthy quest
Very north of Akkala, after the ancient tech lab.

And if you need more information where exactly:
It's in the maze labyrinth

No seriously, I don't know if I'm over exaggerating but the quality of this quest is on a similar level as a mainline dungeon.

If it’s the one near the snowy stable, make good use of the cover in the area.

I tried leaving the depths with a hot air balloon that was seated under the chasm I entered in, but it beeped out of existence when I got near the top.

Anyone know if that was a function of how long I used the balloon, or a height limit similar to the main world?

I don't understand the hatred for the Koroks, I keep seeing people abuse the poor little guys. I love em.
I launched one with bombs once to get it out of my system. Now I always rescue the little dudes. Love them and would die for them.

Except for the one that I launched into some bombs. Poor guy. He's fine though.

I think it is a time limit of a kind, I have had a couple makeshift planes just sorta blink out of existence even though I was still cruising

It's good having Hero's Path now in a base game but it's annoying that it's not automatically switching layers of the world, it shows a icon figure in which layer is recorded. I think this is something that could be patched, it would be a lot better.

There are over a dozen shrines with those red lasers
And I have avoided hitting all of them! As far as I knew, they would damage me. Never expected they would be triggers to something. Hence why adding some part of the Shrine where it reveals they don't damage you would be helpful.

Yeah, kinda surprised there doesn’t seem to be any indication as to where Hestu is. Having the Koroks talk about him would’ve been a good idea.

Dude how the fuck do you fight Gleeoks. Trying to take on the Frost one and it is just kicking my whole ass. I have like 13 hearts and good weapons, too.
If you’re talking about the one near Snowland (?) Stable, here are some somewhat specific steps that I employed:

Phase 1: Watch its flight route and wait for it to fly near one of the tall rubble in the area. Once it’s near, climb the rubble, jump off and activate bullet time.

Hit the eye of each of the heads twice. If that’s a bit difficult, use homing arrows. The Gleeok will then collapse to the ground. Run over and hit him with the strongest weapons you’ve got.

Phase 2: Once you deal enough damage, the Gleeok will stay on the ground. It’ll barrage you with snowballs which should be easy enough to dodge. The laser is the real problem; find a piece of rubble to hide behind. Then when an opening presents itself shoot out its eyes again. I repeat: use homing arrows if you’re having difficulty hitting those eyes.

Phase 3: Gleeok flies way up into the sky and rains icicles down on you. Dodge the icicles, find one to climb up on, use Recall on it to rise upwards, then jump off and enter bullet time. Hit those damn eyes, and once it falls to the ground, show no mercy.

I don't understand the hatred for the Koroks, I keep seeing people abuse the poor little guys. I love em.
It’s out of love. Those silly little things.

Decided to throw caution to the wind and jumped down the whirlpool off Hylia Bridge to see if anything happened.
There's a shrine down there! This game is cool.

Genuinely might be the best concept the team had with this game. I always get excited when I stumble upon one.

Oh shit! I know what I’m doing next time I boot up the game.

Little thing and big thing.

Little thing: I really dig how the journal is written in “you” format, RPG style. As in, “You handed over this item. Now, you should probably get back and receive your reward.” I don’t recall if it was like that in BotW, but it’s very neat and adds a personal touch of sorts.

Big thing: Getting this game’s champion’s tunic, and the lead-up to it, is easily one of the top 5 moments so far, which is saying a LOT. I was smiling from ear to ear and felt such a huge jolt of joy. Wearing that thing and exploring the underground feels absolutely incredible, like finally realising what I thought the game would be like after the 2019 trailer.

I discovered that one by knowing the good old
"where there's a light root there's a shrine above"

trick.

It's a small difference from BotW but a really cool one I think.

I was surprised to see new moves for higher tier variants of certain enemies, such as the Captain Construct and Flux Construct. In BotW higher tier enemies never got any new moves.

Any advice on getting to the Sky Islands above Piper Ridge, Rayne Highlands, and Nero Hill?

I've only got the one basic battery still, and can't find rockets, so apart from launching from towers I'm struggling to get anywhere near enough height.

Playing through this game I think what surprised me the most is how Fuse and the horn mechanic does drastically change how weapon durability works in this game. Before you needed to constantly upgrade your slots because you suffer from choice paralysis. Now? Asides from a few specific weapon bases, what matters are the horns and those you can carry far more than you have weapons. I haven't upgraded my weapon slots more than twice and I never feel like I'm running out of good weapons because I just Fuse Horns onto whatever weapon I'm using right now.

For anyone doing low heart runs, while also wanting to do all the content
you need ten hearts for another one of those draining doors
to progress the fifth sage quest

Edge's 10/10 review is up on Metacritic. If anybody has the print magazine, I'd love to be able to read the review :)
