Previews The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | Preview Thread

Zeltik mentioned it's related to Ultrahand, and a way to make building with Ultrahand easier. My bet is it's a way to store a vehicle or construct you've made.
Only a matter of time before one outlet messed up.

The control look tedious and the emphasis on fusion gimmicks and experimental gameplay is really not my cup of tea. I was more curious about new more interesting areas to explore.
They specifically mentioned that they weren't allowed to talk about anything story related, and were strictly held to two specific areas.

I think it's pretty clear that's the focus of this demo, but there's a ton more to the game.

Yep, another preview mentioned that you can save a creation and construct it again given you have the materials, so that's probably what this is

Im playing this in the good version for sure, damm those frame drops.

I hope its a bit more lineal than BOTW, Sometimes I had a little bit of anxiety playing, it overwhelmed imo

Apparently the frame drops are only in the B-roll footage provided by Nintendo, all the previews say the game was quite smooth and almost all of their footage is very smooth.

Also, it seems that Link won't be able to use the old ability linked to Ipad. I guess Zelda is playable and will use those abilities. That must be their big surprise.

Also, for everyone who is weary about all the crafting:

The Guardian preview flat out says you can play TotK just like you played BotW and ignore crafting most of the time.

That's great news to me. What those previews show really does look like a Zelda TikTok and does not do much for me.
Also, I'm not concerned about performance. They had 6 years with tools and assets which they already knew, and a more performant machine to work with.

I'm happy to hear that it's just an issue with the footage but I'm shocked they sent over video with those kinds of issues. It genuinely makes the framerate look terrible for the game.

Yeah someone on Era is saying something is wrong with the Nintendo footage and FPS isn't an issue in those areas.

Also, not too worries about controls. BotW was weird to play at first, too, but you get used to it.

God, I'm so fucking excited for this game.

That feels extremely common with Nintendo, I don't quite get it either.

I love this. 'Do. Not. Enter.' Reminds me of my hands on with BOTW, they gave us 10 minutes and the guy sat with me just kept suggesting I open chests and talk to the old man.

Sure as shit did I run in the complete opposite direction in a mad dash trying to explore everything I could. I was genuinely giddy.

I don't see the camera option, so it is possible that it has been removed (and with it, the encyclopedia).

Really hope it is not the case and it is added later (like it is in BotW).
I want my encyclopedia. That was a nice motivator for me. They should make it visually more appealing.

If Zelda ToTK gets fandom branded into Zelda TikTok I swear to god.

gunna be honest, this is a big relief. I almost don't like how much they're leaning into crafting and building vehicles. the whole "you can do that?" angle of this flies almost directly in the face of what I want out of Zelda.

that being said, I'm happy that previews are focused on that and the story/dungeons are still left unknown. lots to find out when the game launches.

BOTW already felt cumbersome to me so this doesn’t seem good.

I dunno for certain, but other previous said you can streamline building and stuff, which I assume is probably the most difficult part of controlling the game.

That’s good to see. I’m super excited for this, but Zeltik mentioned that he didn’t see a way to get from one island to the next — at least where he was — without building vehicles. I don’t mind doing that sometimes but it could get tedious in a “switching to iron boots” kinda way if you have to stop and make a new thing constantly. Nintendo considering that is a huge deal.

I still haven't read most of them, but from the ones i've read and impressions of the people who played at the preview event ... i get the feeling that Aonuma and the team just casually went and "degraded" BotW, one of the most loved and among the best games ever, to a freaking "tech demo".

A previewer for the game said that the choppy footage is Nintendo’s b-roll footage and their experience was smooth. Multiple outlets, including IGN, have mentioned that the demo was smooth.
That's a huge relief - my only worry from the previews.

Most of the other outlets I read expressed how the Ultrahand controls take a few minutes to get used to, but after that they felt they had a great grasp on it and that Nintendo built in convenient ways to "lock" your ultrahand objects at fixed angles, etc.

I won't lie, ever since the final trailer, I now see Botw empty/beta and that game was genuinely amazing.

It's so weird that they haven't showed the sky combat in any of the trailers. But I knew it was there as soon as Aonuma showed one part of the patent in his gameplay.

it feels like htere isnt much to do in botw, and when comparing it to totk even jsut the demo i feel thats 100% accurate lmao.

Im not looking at anymore of the game until I get my hands on it, but Im still dead curious. What's the general consensus of those who played it? Yay or nay?
