as a MKWii enjoyer I fully support putting random-ass Mario Circuits into later cups. Airship Fortress stay losing

From Gematsu:

DS Mario Circuit – It might be called Mario Circuit, but this Mario Kart DS-inspired course prominently features none other than Peach’s Castle among its blossoming trees and manicured lawns—complete with a winding path through the castle’s interior!

Huh? They might be thinking of the wrong one.

OMG finally Waluigi Stadium :)

But wished we got Airship Fortress instead of Mario Circuit :(

Otherwise, like those tour tracks, really wishes me to go to a southeast asia trip

I‘m disappointed by Waluigi Stadiums music and somehow the new look doesn’t have the same vibe like the original :/

The remaining amount of datamined Tour tracks perfectly lines up with our unknown City and New courses, six. We also have the Maple Treeway being formerly Wave 6 evidence.
We're one down, no? OR ended up being Piranha Plant Cove, despite sharing assets with NU (which I believe is now speculated to be a placeholder?).
A lot of ID movement in from the Bowser Castle tracks (including the ones already in the game, but this image doesn't track those) so I guess another Bowser Tour with GBA Bowser Castle 4 and one of the SNES Bowser Castle tracks will be coming within the next few months. Another increase for the big GCN gap too, and with Shroom Ridge in we can now see how many IDs DS Mario Circuit actually has (should be pretty close to releasing by now).

As seen on Mondo's chart, unless I'm missing something, there are currently only 5 mob tracks left, despite there being 6 empty slots to supposedly fill in the BCP.

I'm not super invested in this idea though, I think it's more likely a GCN track was scrapped.

Easily a more disappointing wave for me track selection wise. 3 Tour cities is just... too damn much (get Bangkok and Singapore in, and drop Amsterdam pls). Mario Circuit is an awful pick compared to anything else from the DS (just like Toad Circuit was absolute garbage to bring back for a 3DS track). The GBA tracks CAN be nice, but they're so short and uneventful that I'm also kind of bored of them. And look, I like Waluigi Stadium, but the GameCube was full of bangers and it was arguably one of the least interesting ones there.

Pretty much just Yoshi's Island and DK Summit with Birdo as reasons for me to be excited. Feels like the first real miss of the pass for me from a course selection perspective.

I was thinking of the other chart, but yeah it looks like we are down to just five. I’m cool if the prefix count doesn’t shake out on new courses. One more chance for a fan favorite.

Praying for airship fortress, or a 3ds track, 3ds was done dirty.

DK summit my beloved, also was not expecting DS Mario Circuit, looks pretty nice. I also gotta say Waluigi Stadium looks amazing

Agree to disagree. I think these are 🔥.

The tracks look great, also was expecting an announcement next week for late march so this is nice! I think im most excited for the Tour ones and Yoshis island as they are new to me. DS Mario Circuit is an odd pick but I found it ok to race on and of course looks a lot better here.

I'm guessing Los Angeles Laps got moved because of the summer theme of the track. Kinda a bummer, but it is what it is.

I'm not mad at DS Mario Circuit. It looks good! Pretty unexpected though.

But damn I was hoping LA Laps would be here but I guess it is Wave 5 now.

Nice part about this wave is that I don't have to shuffle my predictions for wave 5 all that much. Just need to swap out a few tracks.

Feather Cup
  • Tour Vancouver Velocity
  • SNES Bowser's Castle
  • GCN DK Mountain
  • Piranha Plant Cove
Cherry Cup
  • Tour ???
  • GBA Sunset Wilds
  • Wii Koopa Cape
  • Tour Los Angeles Laps
Feels fairly safe, all things considered. Don't think we're gonna see answers to whether the prefix leak holds up or not until wave 6.

I'm going to defend DS Mario Circuit. Yes it's not the most flashy choice for a dlc track, but it makes up for that with it's ending section. The back to back double u turn segment always leads to some chaotic finishes which is always fun.

Same. I think DS Mario Circuit is pretty much the best choice they could've made from the other Mario Circuits left. In MKDS it was a Star Cup track compared to this track theme normally being a staple of the Flower Cup, and it's thanks to some really great drifting turns in it.

I can't believe we've gone through 36 retro tracks being added (plus all those that were on the original game) and still missing Airship Fortress.

Oh yeah I remember those archaic MKDS online races. Racing on Mario Circuit was always a good time lol.

Oh hey, a March 9th release date is effectively an early Mar10 Day release. Neat!!

As most people have already said, DS Mario Circuit is the surprise pick for this wave. Almost all of us were expecting Airship Fortress! But DS Marjo Circuit isn't a bad choice. It's later in its game than most other Mario Circuits and features a more complex layout as a result. I also love its remix keeping the electronic lead instrumentation, just like DS Shroom Ridge.

Beyond that, I haven't played the Bankok track, so I'm excited for that, but the real winner will obviously be Yoshi's Island. I'll try to have the ST graphics updated by tonight, though I will admit that the release timing caught me off guard!

This is the main reason why I'm still very excited for it. Mario Circuit, Shroom Ridge, and the Battle Mode theme are the most DS-ass Mario Kart DS music tracks out there, and now we've got two of them. Just need to add Twilight House and we're golden.

At first glance Yoshi seem really cool and I’ve a lot of Nostalgia for the DS track and Wii Tracks. My favorite looking track is probably the GBA one. It really looks like a track from the base game. It probably is different when driving on it, but from first glanc it received much more unique texture work. I think it has the potential to be the most polished Wave Track so far. Though Waluigi Stadium looks really cool too.

The tour track are cool for sight seeing but I usually don‘t like them very much in repetition.

Pretty close to mine in term of content :

  • Tour ???

Cherry Cup

  • GCN Daisy Cruiser
  • SNES Bowser's Castle

GCN Daisy Cruiser instead of GCN DK Mountain (summer vibes) and a new unknown track instead of Piranha Plant Cove, I can see it coming wave 6 more likely and wave 5 will thus be able to have its surprise nitro track, as it was the case with Yoshi's Island and Sky-High Sundae.

I am always a fan of the first track in any Mario Kart game. It is often the introduction for new players into the Mario Kart franchise, and often an excellent gateway into the magic.

So for the final 16 tracks in Waves 5 and 6 heres how I think it will shake out with the prefix leak in play.

5 Tour Cities: Los Angeles, Vancouver, 3 unknown

4 Tour Nitros: Pirahna Plant Cove, 3 unknown

1 SNES Track: a version of Bowser's Castle (probably BC3)

1 GBA Track: Sunset Wilds

2 Wii Tracks: Rainbow Road, Dry Dry Ruins (I could see no Koopa Cape being another upset)

3 GCN Tracks: Daisy Cruiser, Mushroom City, Bowser's Castle (2 Bowser's Castles in the DLC wouldn't surprise me with 2 Rainbow Roads and 2 Mario Circuits)

Except DS Mario Circuit isn't the first track of MK DS, it's actually a star cup track.

Bro imma be so happy if Vancouver comes in Wave 5. They could go ahead and cancel Wave 6 and I wouldn't care. Bring me PNW nostalgia!

So left there it is…

Wave 5
Tour, Wii, GBA, Tour
Tour, GCN, SNES, New

Wave 6
Tour, GCN, New, New
Tour, GCN, New, Wii

I think Wave 5 can include both DK Mountain and a new DK theme track in addition to put Diddy Kong, Funky Kong and Pauline as characters.

Wave 6 can have Piranha Plant Cove with Petey Piranha, King Bomb Omb and Kamek as new characters (all Mario enemies..)

As Tour tracks left I know there is Los Angeles and Vancouver left…

I think North America is well covered as there is representation of west and east coast (los angeles and new york) + canada

Western Europe has representation of probably its 4 most iconic cities (Paris, London, Amsterdam and Berlin). There is no Eastern Europe representation and I think either Athens or Moscow can be good candidates (although with war I would prefer Athens). There are some good places that can still get representation from Western Europe, especially from south like Madrid, Barcelona or Rome.

Asia has representation of eastern (Tokyo) and southeast side (Bangkok and Singapore). As big cities left, there can be also Beijing/Shanghai or Mumbai.

Oceania with Sidney is fine

Africa is so far an unrepresented continent, what they can pull off there ? Egypt? Morocco?

And from America, there is still South America. Honestly, the most iconic city is Rio de Janeiro and can also be a good candidate.

If I have to make prediction, I would say Athens, Mumbai/Shanghai and Rio de Janeiro

I just got mugged in a bad way. What do you mean there is no Airship Fortress? And not to put Luigi's Mansion or Delfino Square no, to put a Mario track.

The track looks nice, but man, F for Airship Fortress.

Next week we will receive Birdo. We'll see if there's any clue as to how many characters we can expect, either by datamine or Birdo's place in the roster.

I see no Daisy Cruiser on this

Too many city tracks, which haven’t been that good in my opinion. But more tracks, is more tracks and Yoshi’s Island looks so good.

Wow, really disappointed to not get Airship Fortress. Especially for yet another Mario Circuit. Three city tracks is also a little underwhelming, but that was expected.

Interesting how the first three waves all made sure to include at least one massive fan favorite (Coconut Mall, Waluigi Pinball, Maple Treeway, 3DS Rainbow Road) but this one doesn't.

At least the tracks look spectacular. Especially Riverside Park and Waluigi Stadium, wow! They look like base game tracks!

Also shocked this is coming so soon. Barely a three month gap between waves 3 and 4. Hopefully we don't have to wait til August again for Wave 5!

i am really baffled by the opinion that the city tracks are boring

with maybe the exception of tokyo, they're some of the most varied and dynamic tracks in the entire game, with tons of routes and unique obstacles and have only gotten more and more complex over time

To refresh people's memory, this is what a race on Mario Circuit DS - the third track of DS's Star Cup - looks like:

I think Yoshi's Island will be the clear favorite of the wave, but I think this one will surprise people like Shroom Ridge did. The layout has some great turns and a few fun hazards, and the updated setpiece with the Wiggler will add some extra spice to the track. I think I'm gonna enjoy racing on it a lot.

We kind of only play the DLC tracks, here, and the Cities are some of our favorites.
