I have my doubts if strawberry basket girl in that artbook is the character teased in the last trailer. The dress is very close of course but it's not 1:1, details are missing/added. The trailer version doesn't have tattoos, extra bracelets, and we weirdly don't see the hair despite the art showing them to be long and wide.
We also see a bunch of new NPCs in the artbook with the same outfit (color aside) as Link, so it's not like clothes are exclusive to a single character.

Basically, the mystery is still up.

This was my thought. Instead of 120 shrines and 4 divine beasts we get 40 mini dungeons and 7 or 11 normal dungeons, and those disk are what you get from the former instead of spirit orbs. Once you get 5 you get an upgrade to the green energy/arm resource the same way you could update your stamina with 4 spirit orbs.

I imagine health would then be heart containers from the main dungeons and maybe the return of heart pieces.
I always thought Nintendo should bring something like shrines back, but do less of them so they can focus on creating more and better dungeons. If we get 40 shrines and 7-11 unique dungeons I’ll be extremely happy.

Because of the eye-shaped ornament on her forehead, she has to be the woman of the mural.

I guess the simple answer to the identity of the woman in the trailer is Zelda.

Where are people getting the idea that there will be 40 shrines
There are 40 coin slots (8 containers that hold 5 coins each) on the green object that Link carries on his hip, we previously thought it was 8 vials of green liquid

I think it would be kinda cool if there are dungeons but they are not as clearly defined as in past Zelda games. Like stepping into a structure, you're not sure if you're gonna get a full labyrinth with a boss fight or a giant puzzle room or anything in between.

this is not a Hinox tooth. It’s bigger, thicker, and has 3 points instead of 2. Looks like there’s going to be a new giant humanoid boss. Don’t think anything we’ve seen matches.

Probably not related but now I am thinking of these leviathan bones in BotW and if they (or similar creatures) could be alive.
There is this flying whale in skyward sword as well...

It may not be '40' mini-dungeons. Each disc could be made up of 2-3 parts so between 80-120. And presumably there should still be a way of obtaining pieces of heart and heart containers.

Lol I just looked over on Era for the first time in months and they are having pretty much the exact same conversations - it’s worth a look

BotW was the always taking you off the path. There was something that would catch your eye. I feel like this game is taking that and turning it up with even more stuff that will catch your eye.

Crazy idea/theory

some of the artwork shown in the book might indicate that the team is delving again with time travel shenanigans... WHAT IF THIS IS A DIFFERENT APPROACH OF TIME TRAVEL

We already saw an ability that reverts back the momentum/movement of an object from one place to the other. What if we are able to do this on ruins like the Forgotten Temple and Great Plateau which seems to be back to its old state. Possible explanation why we need to revert back the ruins to its old form is because we need to retrieve the "tears" without the need of time travel.

Gameplay idea: In order to revert back the ruins to its original form we must collect this disk ( the "vial" thing links carry are not vials but disk if you look at the leak artworks) in this games version of shrine. Then after collecting the shrine's disk we will be able to revert back the ruins and be rewarded by a giant classic dungeon for us to explore

Yeah there's definitely a bit more here than you'd think at first glance, very much suggesting there are dungeons and that the pirate ship is one of them.

I'm really curious about the whole spool thing and what that means for Zelda having a role.
Way too small for it to be a dungeon.
There's probably some challenge inside of it, like in the ghost ship from Wind Waker. There's probably only one room or two inside that ship.

Someone feel free to debunk this with their placement, but doesn't the markings on the room with the Hyrule map, like, match up pretty perfectly with the spots that have the Nazca Lines? So maybe there's a connection there.

I agree but i also think they will need more of a structure now for the story and what you have access to. Like a certain mission in the sky, another storyline underground and some missions in land. Or else i feel like it would be too overwhelming to know where to go for the player.

Also, i'm curious to see what they do with the hearts/stamina. Link will probably go back to 3 hearts because he got hurt from the attack. But like, are we really going back to early Botw level of stamina and won't be able to climb some stuff again... I feel like since the emphasis won't be only on the land, than already having access to high points won't be as bad since the discovery will also take place in the other 2 levels.

Also the shots of Zelda in the cavern makes me so excited for the segment where they discover Ganondorf. Looks like it could very well be a playable part of the game and not just an intro cinematic.

What do we think about this picture?

Weapon effectiveness based on the time of the day... will it possibly replace durability?
Based on the surrounding pictures, I think it's a training schedule for lessons on different types of weapons, or maybe it's showing the weapons carried by enemies depending on the time of the day. Weakening your sword because of the clock would be silly

I agree this game could be extremely overwhelming since we have to think about underground and the sky islands. I’ll probably have a journal in real life setting out my plans for the day in TOTK lol

Yea exactly lol. They might rework the quests log, i wouldn't. I also have a difficulty envisioning how we will be traveling between the three levels too. Like can we go from an island to a point underground by teleporting ? So many questions.

Holy Crap just noticed this, where the heck is Link in this shot! This is definitely Zelda, and she seems to be alone and alive, just saying...

I could be making a reach, but if you look in the entrance right behind what looks to be a door you can see a blurry figure. I could be wrong and it is just some rocks, but when I look at it zoomed in, I can make out what looks to be the hylean shield.

If you can see it, you can go there, and if you can’t see it because it’s underground, you might still be able to.

Just go through the floor, lmao.

There are some pedestals in this art book where I'm like "yeah I'm just gonna phase through"

I kinda hope the tutorial is shorter than the Great Plateau now that many players are familiar with returning mechanics.

I think so yea. The basic elements of the engine will remain the same. I hope it does a MM type sequence where it's just a short sequence and you enter the world.

Thank goodness Nintendo will be at PAX East on March 23. We will get previews and gameplay footage.

I’m thinking we get a Zelda Direct either that week or the previous week.

I don't think the Zonai coins are gained from dungeons or correlate to dungeons/shrines. firstly while they are coins they are not easily noticeable as coins in game, and given their size, Id have a hard time imagining that a group of like three coins could be easily discernible from a group of five. secondly gaining like three of them or any number other than five at once would be weird considering how they'd start to stack, like if you had four, and you gained three, you'd have a full set of five and then two on their own, which just feels messy from a visual perspective. finally, I just dont think they'd create a object that's clearly empty like that and have the player fill it up over the course of the game. Like sure they did that with the tears of light and the spirit vessel, but to me, something that's visually on Link like this would probably be something that extended over time to include more slots to fit more coins, and not come with all the slots empty.

The magatama might be what we gain from the shrine like equivilants instead, and instead of four like the spirit orbs, we now need seven.

arguably the first cycle is there as a tutorial to get you accustomed to the changes to OoT in regards to sidequesting and gameplay.
Only aftere that you get the ocarina and the core tool to start returning to the first day.

I still think the coins might be created by means of a magic ‘dispenser’ which makes the eye cry out a tear, which then turns into a coin.

So basically going back to the gameplay with timeshift stones in the lanayru desert in SS. I would love that to come back. It also reminds me this was my main theory regarding BOTW back in 2016, I thought the skeikah towers had massive timeshift stones in them so we could use them to little by little rewind all Hyrule to its state 100 years ago.
But what a fool, it wasn't 100 years we needed to rewind but 10 000 :p.

This is what I wrote earlier you might have missed it since this thread has started to pick up steam as more and more fans move over to the dark side and look at the images. The Nazca lines are called geoglyphs

“I think you are on the right track, I’m still trying absorbs is what I wrote earlier all the information in the book, I like your theory that the map depicts an ancient Hyrule and that all of the geo-glyphs we have seen lighted up on the surface also are depicted here on the map. It falls inline to me with each geo-glyph representing a God and then having a corresponding temple in the sky as a way to locate each one of these Temples from the map more so then them being underground based on the Devine nature of what we have seen from the sky.”

I hope that you don't see any loading screens once you are in the game (except maybe after a cutscene or when you teleport).

I still think the sky islands will be the equivalent of shrines. In BotW they felt so disconnected from the main world (I kind of liked that at the time) due to the loading screens and their enclosed, very otherworldly architecture.

In TotK everything feels so connected now. You have a sense of place while doing a puzzle on an island and looking down on Hyrule. I really like that.
I wonder what happens if you trip and fall of the edge during a puzzle... :D
Do you have to make your way up? Or maybe you can use the hook as a safety measure.

I really hope these green spirals work like a cannon which shoot link very fast and seamlessly into the sky (kind of like going up the water falls in BotW):

Would be neat to have some spirals that don't shoot you against a pillar from below but instead you end up very high in the air and can start sky diving immediately. Combine that with the wingsuit and you might go from point A to point B very fast without using teleportation (I avoided that until late in the game in BotW).

Amazing, thanks! Very cool theory.

The black pictures with the white lines in the book seems like they're related too. They look very alike.
