dang @ Elden Ring having more than 3 times as many GOTY awards as all other games combined.

get ready to lose your minds when β€œother platforms” means the thing Apple’s gonna show in March

[crosspost from TGA 2022 thread]

Insane prediction - Haunted Chocolatier getting a new update at TGAs.

ConcernedApe has been quietly working away at his game; the last update on the site's blog was December 21st, 2021. Very rarely does he share WIP screenshots on his Twitter but they are rarely substantial in the first place. Stardew Valley is still a critical and commercial Indie darling success story, having been nominated for Best Independent Game at TGAs 2016 (but losing to Inside, developed by Playdead), and there's still the screenshot direct from the official site that shows a curiously specific number of gold in the player's wallet

In conclusion: Haunted Chocolatier will appear at TGAs before Zelda: TotK

Man that last part in River City Girls 2 was really bad.
Once you get the last emblem from the boss in the piers, they make you backtrack all the way to the school, oh and they disable the fast travel because reasons, so you have to traverse all the way back on foot

Then in the school you have to go to the roof and once you reach it, its closed, so they make you backtrack to the first area of the school to activate something so you can access the roof, so back to the roof again.

After you clear the boss in the roof, finally the last area is opened so time to go right? NOPE. They make you backtrack to all the previous areas to help your friends (thankfully Fast travel is activated now).

And then, the last area is open, which is on the other side of the city, so backtracking again (this one is faster as there are 2 fast travel points 3 screens away from that area).
I was planning on finishing it yesterday but all that took me more time than I expected

Be hilarious if Nintendo announce I dunno, Metroid Prime HD tonight, and it's confirmed for Nintendo Switch... and (an)other platforms.

oh god, is this rumored?
what do I know? do I know things? let’s find out!

whether or not my last post pans out the way I think it will… something’s gonna happen, and it’s gonna happen by June.

not only does it exist, people have seen it.

man really said "if you let us have this 58 billion dollar company we'll let nintendo have call of duty at some point"
Phil's gonna go on an Elon-style rant about how government overreach is keeping CoD out of the hands of the people to try and rile Nintendo owners into pressuring the FTC to drop the suit and Nintendo owners are gonna shrug in response and then Sony's gonna be all "see we told you Nintendo owners are a bunch of babies who don't care about first-person shooters!!!1!"

also to bring it all back around to games, literally Valve is supposedly involved

the latest info suggests that most large shipments have moved to H2 2023, the OS is more or less wrapped, and instead of rOS (Reality OS) they’re now going with xrOS (Extended Reality OS)

all of which I find very very funny

I still think the reasons for blocking the deal, as argued for by Sony and some regulatory bodies, are kinda silly. But it's overall a good thing if it's blocked and deters other large scale acquisitions in the tech/gaming sector.

I wonder if Microsoft might just try to absorb Blizzard now instead of the full thing. The main thing holding this deal up is COD. Microsoft would single-handedly own the FPS market if this goes through.

Are there at least new enemies or tougher enemies to make the backtracking worthwhile? Or is it just same ol' same ol'?

Relating to TGA. My pipe dream is 3D Mario announcement over anything. TOTK is cool and all but Mario's always been what I returned to.

The main reason they want to buy Activision Blizzard is for Call of Duty.

Phil’s late night tweet DID have the deal’s closure as a condition, so yeah
lol, the notion of sharing the serious gruff gunboy game β€” dropped as a carrot in public view to tango with the FTC β€” is just really weirdly funny

dude’s juggling with the optics to see what sticks

it’s also gonna be hilarious if this is the one thing that finally gets monopoly pushback, like β€œyeah disney can guzzle down the seven seas and you can stick a toothpick flag in the sun but if you take one more gaming studio from the patisserie platter we’re gonna have to talk!!”

don’t get me wrong all of this monopolizing is bad bad bad bad fucking garbage bullshit and oh my god do I hate it very much

but it’s so funny that they’re like β€œyeah do it I don’t see why not, OKAY WAIT HOLD UP THAT’S THE SECOND-TO-LAST CUPCAKE”

The real 10 year commitment is all the 10 year commitments killed by regulators along the way
At Microsoft, we have made a 10 year commitment to getting our deals squashed by regulators due to our frighteningly rapid acquisition of large sections of the industry

How it works is according to your level and progression the game populate each screen with enemies types. So at low levels you are likely to get more cheerleades and school boys than the terminator, zombie or yakuza enemies. At the backtracking point in the game I was already max level so the game just really goes random. The issue is that at max level there is no point in fighting them anymore so you are speeding through them (you could farm money, but again at that point I had already bought all the items that gives you stats boost)

If Nintendo was planning on a new Mario game in time for the movie, now would be the last time they could announce it and still have a normal marketing window. I doubt it happens, but it's just something to note.

pack it up everyone, they got nothing
The thing is, we know that Mario Movie will be there in some capacity and they still not tweeted tune in, not even a retweet of the information that it will be there. But afaik the latest they got the tweet notice for one of the TGA was about at hour from now. My ToTK hope will not die anytime soon tho.
