I'm kinda peaceful for the first stretch in months, but I'm off-and-on fighting a weird guilty feeling like I shouldn't be peaceful, I should be fighting harder to proceed with, like, life..but I think that's more the anxiety talking.

Yeah, that's exactly why I feel we're pretty close to another Direct right now.

But you're right about that game(s) being smaller in scale. As I said, I expect another Mario vs DK game, possibly with that new design of DK.

Mario vs DK would probably be an e-shop game, which fits my criteria. Kinda insane that we haven't gotten one on Switch yet.

If you like the idea of just running around large areas really fucken fast, doing weird platforming challenges, watching melodrama play out with anthropomorphic characters, and can excuse some jank and polish issues to get you there, then yes.

If you already did like Sonic, and were getting tired of the boost formula games, and want to try something that's more of a fully-realized Sonic Adventure 1, then yes.

But if you aren't already much into Sonic or don't have a connection with the older games and you just wanna see what the fuss is about, or if you want a tight and polished experience over an experimental proof of concept... maybe look around to see if it's still deeply on sale somewhere (I got mine for $29usd on Amazon). Or maybe try secondhand.

In honor of the thread closing and December starting up, it’s snowing at my house. Very comfy with the Christmas lights, music, and eggnog latte.

If baffling=enjoy for you then definitely try it 🤣

It's actually so different from what Sonic has been for the past.. twenty years or so (fuck) that you not liking Sonic so far might not even factor in.
 
After a month and a half, medication withdrawal finally seems to be diminishing.
At its worst I couldn't even enjoy gaming, as watching busy or moving images made me feel uncomfortable, so it's nice to be able to take joy in my favourite hobby again!
It's been a challenging year in general, so I'm glad to have had plenty of cool games to play, and a positive and cosy online space here with you fine humans. :)

Damn, the month is already over. I think we had a lot of fun activity in the thread this month, and I hope we can keep that going into the holidays. Onward to December, and to the end of the year! A busy time for my line of work, but hopefully I can get some relaxation in. Hoping the new year will bring us all some good things!

I don’t know if I should start Sonic Frontiers tonight or focus entirely on Scarlet for the time being. I wanna play Sonic but I feel like I should let Pokémon be my only game for a little bit..

Nothing wrong with starting Sonic and seeing how you feel. If you wanna keep playing that, then you get to go for it. If you'd rather play Pokemon, then you can jump back on that!

I gotta say, these sound effects I'm making are actually pretty incredible when they're properly timed in the game. They sound awful and ridiculous when I'm recording them but in the game they're actually pretty charming.

Might have something here.


Also about half of the enemy traits have been implemented, this is way easier than I expected. I just hope it adds enough variety and strategy to combat

It's not, the hook here is I'm recording them all vocally. Making the noises with my mouth. Some sound extremely cheesy but hey I love cheesy.

Today the unthinkable happened

we got acknowledgement of Pokémon violag and scarlag from Ninty

AND we got a promise of significant free post launch support for Sonic Frontiers

I am one happy dude fami

Guess I should hold off a day to make sure my Elite Four experience goes smoothly. I only have the final titan and team star base left. Good to see them address the performance issues. They don’t bother me in the fields, but the towns need help.

I've got some of them down though, I can make a lot of very odd noises.

I have a pretty good week lined up :D

Got the Splatoon and Mario Kart updates to enjoy, the final batch of JJBA episodes will drop, and then I'm gonna be leaving on vacation next weekend
