2021 had a Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak trailer, so not totally nothing. This year though... I'm not sure tbh. I thought it could be a Mario Kart DLC shadowdrop, but that didn't happen. Then I thought the Mario Movie trailer, which also isn't happening. Maybe Xenoblade DLC to celebrate the GOTY nomination?

2021 was Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak from Nintendo.

I completely forgot there was a Sunbreak trailer in the pre show lol.

I hope Nintendo actually has something in the back half of the show this year. Almost all of these announcements were in the first 30 minutes, leaving you constantly wondering if there’d be more only to get nothing.

Other than the Joker reveal right at the end of the show, which was awesome. Throw us poor people still watching near the end something cool, Nintendo!

This is a problem with the whole Game Awards as of late. They blow through their best announcements in the first hour, which makes the rest of the show feel very dull by comparison.

Since starting my job in December 2016, which takes the week off between Christmas and New Years, I have basically played a different RPG during each break.

2016 - Final Fantasy 15
2017 - Xenoblade 2
2018 - Smash Bros Ultimate (the one exception)
2019 - Ys VIII
2020 - The Outer Worlds, Trials of Mana Remake
2021 - Nier Replicant

I'm still working my way through Persona 5 Royal but I'll likely be done in a few weeks. So this winter break I'm mostly likely playing through......

Wrap in basil and prosciutto then dredge in egg wash and coat with panko, Parmesan, and garlic:

Pan fry until golden

Then top with a lemon butter sauce and serve with a lightly dressed arugula salad.

I made an incredibly moist and sweet meatloaf yesterday, don't have pictures but it was delish.

My secret is that I spread some glaze in the center of the loaf before adding the rest of the meat on top of it.

Technically three, depending on how you consider the timing. There's Elevenses, Luncheon, and Afternoon Tea all in the vicinity of "lunchtime" for us.

TGA being on at night time in the UK means it's never worth watching. This year I think there are a few candidates for Nintendo though:

• Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC trailer
• Metroid Prime HD announcement for a March release
• Tears of the Kingdom trailer
• Third-party exclusive probably from Square Enix, maybe from Capcom
• Mario Kart 8 DX Booster Pack Wave 3 is OUT NOW 30 second spot that Geoff tries his best to hype up
• Incomprehensible Fire Emblem Engage trailer

I'm really sad to see magazine outlets and people placing TLOU 1 Remake in GOTY lists since it's basically the same game that was released 9 years ago. I'm really tired of the remake craze that has been going on for many years now and tired to see us (as a society) celebrate the lack of ideas of huge companies that keep releasing the same thing over and over and over again.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure RE4 and Metroid Prime Remakester (if it really exists) will be day-1 for me because I'm nothing if not a huge hypocrite

It has problems, but it’s not ugly. You wouldn’t walk past it with your eyebrows raised, mouth agog, staring like Sonic’s pants had fallen to his ankles. It’s just fine. On Switch, Sonic’s pants haven’t just fallen down; they’ve been mangled and haphazardly thrown back on the hedgehog.

I've seen that argument and I can see where you're coming from. It feels clunkier than modern shooters, and coming from 2022 it definitely can feel dated.

To me, the controls still work as intended -and I get this isn't very objective because I love RE4-. It's supposed to feel slow and stop you in your tracks. I do see why updating the controls would be seen as a plus for the game for many people, but I do think that upgrading it to the RE2 and RE3 remakes' way of playing would make it lose something.

This is another issue that I have with remakes. The line with what is or isn't outdated and adapting them to a different audience, and what happens to the original game once the remake is out (I had similar issues with the Metroid 2 remake, which I actually enjoyed). Luckily, even if RE4 does not feel as good to play as the original, I can still play the original and the HD version. With other titles, I'm afraid we won't be as lucky.

I'd imagine at that point they'd also bring back the original DLC too, but that's strictly speculation on my part.
