Turns out that Nintendo age demographic chart also applied to Famiboards!

By 2009 I was already living on my own and trying to stick it out at my second job which I was probably not happy with even if I didn’t want to admit it just yet and didn’t want to leave because the job market wasn’t great and I had been laid off a year and a half prior so having something stable was more important at the time.
 
I'm jealous of people born in 2000. Not because of their age per se, more because they have it the easiest to remember their age. This might not be a big deal to you now, but it will become an issue in the future.

Just throwing this in general because I see no threads for it but what the hell is happening over at Square Enix?

All I read are concerning messages about focussing on NFT tech, selling part of their business only to start buying new ones and focus more on global trends rather then Japanese ones. as a game enthousiast all these things sounds like suicide.

feels to me it's just a matter of time for them to become new Level-5, yikes.
The first thing I though was that I hope Nintendo manages to buy the Dragon Quest rights from them but that's not really realistic.

does Anyone of the Fami have a better look on this?

don’t believe everything you read on the internet

look at their output this year

and I’d also say things said in shareholder meetings should be taken with a fistful of the ol’ salt grains

it may not last forever, but clearly they have some idea of what they’re doing at the moment

that said I’m 100% talking out my ass because I know nothing about this other than what I’ve seen in passing and had absolutely no business replying to this post :^)
 
As a youtuber, when you call a game about INDIAN culture--"cooking traditional middle eastern indian dishes" you deserve to be ridiculed online. Can't believe a statement like that was said in 2022.

Yeah dude. And I am one for constructive criticism and have no qualms against him not liking the IndieWorld Direct. That's fair game, it wasn't for everyone.

They are saying all the wrong things, but also pumping out a bajillion games this year and next many of them good at worst and many of them awesome so I dunno. Maybe no one there is actually listening to the guy on top.

FF, DQ and KH will stay strong. And they have a bevy of smaller-scale releases that have done well.

They’re doing fine. They’re just doing some stupid stuff on the side, too.
 
Square should cut the crap, trim the fat, skim the milk — whatever it is they need to do — to focus all their energy on what they do best:

Giving their games hilarious titles.
 
Getting outside funding to mitigate financial risks isn’t a bad move per se. AAA-development is a huge money sink and their recent moves make me think that they’re trying to refocus on what they do best. The NFT/crypto shit is obviously dumb, though.

I was going to write up a thread explaining how Famicoins are earned but the mystery is fun.
