Well not to spoil the podcast but Nate says that he's heard from some of his sources that GCN games will be coming to NSO in at least a limited capacity sometime in the future. Maybe not now or this year but in the future. It would be games that Nintendo wouldn't be interested in remastering. He did say while he trust his sources, the info wasn't substantial enough to make a whole video about it.

So there you go. GCN games on NSO sounds it is coming down the pipeline eventually but maybe not anytime in the very near future.

I want to be excited for the new FE but I'm also concerned although to be fair the leaks are early builds and lots of things will change.

Hoping for Zelda ports and more Jrpg goodness.
Same for me. I have questions about the next FE but then I’m also sure they’ll change up some of the things I didn’t like about TH too. It’s one of the good things about series that change things up a lot

Maybe they do them as one-off additions every now and again, as opposed to an NSO app?

The "mostly" in the tweet is what gets me going.
Stuff coming this winter.. mostly.

I mean, they always toss in a game or two that's way out and I oh so hope for that game this time to be BotW2.

I'm not sure. He doesn't go until detail about how it will be done. There's basically two categories: games Nintendo wants to remaster and sell on their own and games that Nintendo doesn't want to remaster. The latter would most likely appear on NSO. He gave Luigi's Mansion and Wave Race Blue Storm as examples.

I need people to seriously doubt the appearance of BotW2 to reverse-jinx it like they did with this General Direct, thx.
I mean the game has to be delayed again so we'll probably see aonuma on a black background showing us ww hd and the tp hd (no double pack) releasing for next year while botw 2 gets shifted to spring 2024 (no new footage and no title).

That would make the most sense, imo, as opposed to an NSO app that bundles all games. It'd definitely sidestep the file size issue.

And also Odama and Doshin the Giant...

But that's the way I'd make sense of it. Every now and again a new GameCube game would be available, like one every 3 or 4 months. It also sounds so vague that it easily might not happen; we know Nintendo have GC emulation for the Switch, but that they also haven't built an emulator that works for multiple games.

There are 4 options for anything that could be called "GameCube NSO:"

1. Games are added to Expansion Pass
2. Games are added to a new, more expensive tier
3. Standalone purchases are put on the eShop, but NSO is required to purchase them
4. Standalone purchases are available without NSO, but NSO adds online play

1 is too much value, 2 would be very expensive, and 3 is obviously not happening. 4 is possible, although the feasibility of online play for emulated GameCube games is unknown.

More likely than that though is that any potential GameCube releases are not tied to NSO at all. Since 3DAS happened it's obvious that Nintendo would explore the possibility of emulated releases of GameCube and Wii titles, but the framing of this rumor for NSO doesn't make sense to me.

GCN games also have the issue of pressure-sensitive triggers not being available on standard Switch controllers, which can be worked around but would need to be done on a game-by-game basis

Guess I'll watch the American livestream since no fun is allowed in the UK right now. Going in with no expectations, so let's see what we get!

Jeff and Nate talking about EA...I wonder why Mirror's Edge hasn't been released. That game is a perfect fit for the Switch.

I wouldn't rule out another, more expensive tier in say 2024 or 2025. A handful of GameCube games per year; bigger discounts on existing first-party games; perhaps access to Nindies and other eShop only titles. Nintendo are going to keep looking for ways to make more money from subscriptions over time.

When will we get Metroid Prime 4 properly teased with more than a logo? It's been over three years since the delay/reboot of development. IT IS TIME.

EDIT: Heck, THREE YEARS & SEVEN MONTHS.

Your Welcome

The leaks were pretty blurry tbf I’m sure an official reveal would look much better

Still not convinced GB/GBC comes to the base sub; I think Nintendo view that offer as solid. The base tier is primarily there for online multiplayer; the Expansion Pack is there for extra content, I think.

I don't know why, but my hopes for BotW2 being there just shot up. The "mostly winter games" comment + the fact that it just feels like it's time has me feeling optimistic.

Man, we got a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, TGS right after that, the Game Devs of Color Direct on Thursday...we're feasting this week. Cannot wait to see what we get.

Best part? I get to watch this Direct on my morning commute to work. And unlike that time I had to catch up to the Mario Maker 2 reveal, I'll have internet and a seat the whole time. I get to sit back, relax, and get the goods directly to me.

I feel like there is zero way a major BOTW2 trailer isn't there. It has to be time.

Wait hold on lol if Gamecube is on the table for NSO then my #1 want is Pokemon Colosseum on switch. I'd rather have that than Gen1/2 main series

Skyrim Anniversary Edition won't be a free update. It adds a ton of content to the game (potentially including mods). It'll be paid DLC or a separate release.

I think if it was going to be absent they would've explicitly said so, otherwise people would be expecting it the whole time and the direct would be generally seen as a disappointment which doesn't exactly help the games being marketed.

I am actually curious. Where does this picture come from?
A Sony patent application of all things, I think it was for a system where you'd need to say the name of the brand in an ad (McDonald's was the example used) in order to skip the ad.

Real dystopian shit.

At the rate people talk about Nintendo slotting in new tiers they’ll look like a Patreon page.

I think working with existing tiers & increasing the value, thus the price, is probably a better bet then making a whole new tier for GC NSO & a handful of minor additional goodies.

I hope people aren't getting extremely excited from Nate's videos assuming that everything talked about is something Nate is privy to and not just his own predictions.....

“We are pleased to announce the Sequel to Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild will be called Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild the Sequel”

A patent by Sony that expected you to skip a commercial by screaming its brand's name, encouraging brand recognition

Late capitalism stuff

Wtf. Thanks for explaining. But just what.

This is how Sony sees the future:

"FUCK I GET IT ALREADY, MCDONALD'S SELLS REAL CHICKEN NOW WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY SELLING BEFORE JUST LET ME GET BACK TO COCOMELON FOR FUCK'S SAKE"
