Agree 100%. I remember a year or two ago when we passed a law allowing sports betting (or something like that? I'm a little hazy on the details) I thought "yeah sure, might as well make it legal, even if it's not something I would do". However I was NOT prepared to have sports betting websites and gambling segments take over not only the games themselves, but also be like 75% (and I'm not even joking here) of all advertising both on TV and on the radio. It's ridiculous.
 


I think some Nintendo fans need to touch grass. This level of "where is the marketing?" and blaming other post has become very toxic. Like TPC is a separate entity.

The goldfish mentality of wanting to get marketed too every second is an unhealthy habit. Go enjoy video games, dont be a muppet (no offense to Arlo).

pulled a BOTW where they set up this expectation of really mellow and low-key music (aside from the jazzy battle themes) and then when shit really hits the fan, BAM, they get you. That was what the musical buildup and payoff to Dark Beast Ganon was to me, and XB3 just gave me that massive musical moment in.. *checks* chapter 2.

Goddamn this team rocks.

Yeah I thought it was gonna be subtle but now MLB Network has an hour show about it, and multiple segments through the day with people talking about odds.

Yay it's marijuana dispensaries all over again. It looks like they're pretty close to passing legislation here to allow it. Which is no surprise given DraftKings is HQed in Boston 🤢

Nintendo Life has gone down the toilet, especially now that John is gone. They are desperate to put up anything that will get views.

Yeah. Like some of the recent has not clicked with me. Outside of their interviews, which are fun and great, the rest seems geared towards getting clicks or talking for the sake of talking.
 
Waited too long going back and forth on whether I wanted the physical copy of Bayonetta or not, so it's now out of stock. Oh well, if it doesn't go back in stock at least I saved $30.

It certainly feels like when something good has happened for so long, suddenly a change in pattern is already considered a cause for worry. I've seen a post stating that just because Splatoon 3 is planned to be released earlier than Pokemon, it should've been the one with news first, which I thought is ridiculous since Pokemon is the one that did not have information for a long time, while Splatoon 3 is the one with the bit-sized posts over the weeks.

I think that there are still people who cannot associate Nintendo/TPC as separate marketing entities. My goldfish analogy still holds for these people😅
 
Whew, I missed a bunch here!

First, thank you @Plum for your stewardship of the ST this past July, and main be it as fun as it was!

To @Legion of Primes, an excellent ST and I am thoroughbredly enjoying all the horse and horse-adjacent puns! I'll have to hoof it to catch up with all the other punsters working overtime 😋

In non-gaming affairs, I saw Nope (loved it), Incantation (Netflix, horror, 2spoopy4me) and RuPaul All-Stars 7 finale

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but does anyone have any movie analysis video essays to better explain all the slight details going on? I definitely want to see it again and I've already seen a handful of videos going over some points but I kinda want to understand some alternate perspectives beyond the 'spectacle' nature of humanity and animal rights

I feel cursed by this movie, plenty of "no thank you" moments. Kind of predictable in some ways, maybe a 6.5/10 if I'm being generous. Truthfully, I'm not a big horror fan in the first place and get pretty squeamish. Not recommended for anyone who has trypophobia.

I DID NOT EXPECT JINKX MONSOON TO WIN IT ALL. My guesses were completely off base; Jaida got robbed TWICE. How did Raja win over Yvie?? How did Shea get knocked out first when I was fully expecting her and Monet to be top two??? JINKX???? Don't get me wrong I loved all the queens, but hoo wee what an ending

In gaming affairs, I finally saw the ending of Portal for the second time in 14 years from my first playthrough (8 seconds left on the clock though with the GLaDOS battle, oof), played some more of Tetris Effect, I recommend What The Dub?! if you have a penchant for Jackbox games and see it on sale ($10 is a smidge steep for just one game), and Pokemon Presents...you don't need to tell me I'm foolish to hold out hope for another New Pokemon Snap content update, but God I really hope we do. Unfortunately I don't be able to watch it live on Wednesday, but I hope I can go straight to watching on YouTube with minimal spoilers.

Gonna hopefully give Nate's latest podcast episode a listen on Wednesday morning during my hour-ish drive.

Remember when the value of Nintendo stock shot up after Pokemon Go to such an extent that Nintendo made a statement to remind people that they didn't actually make it, and then the stock levelled off? 😅

Yeah I'm not sure if many people outside of really hardcore enthusiast circles realize Nintendo and TPC are different entities with their own distinct teams and procedures.
