That sounds right. From what I remember the best overall party is generally regarded to be Fang, Hope, and Lightning, with Fang being the lead. But I think pretty much everyone has benefits and uses, and that party also may be after more Crystarium expansions, I don't recall exactly. Been too long since I last played.Yeah, that is what I figured. I needed a potent healer.
Still, Kaiser Behemoth seems like too bug a task for the time being.
Yea the behemoths can be a pain given their buckets of HP when you first arrive Even post-game they take a bit to go down. Once you get more crystarium levels they'll be more approachable.Still, Kaiser Behemoth seems like too bug a task for the time being.
I forget where I ended up at the end, but Fang is great in both COM and SEN roles. That sounds right. Hold up, am I not supposed to be doing this right now? I was going for the cieth stone missions in order. Kaiser Behemoth is mission 9, and it just wrecks me sooner or later after it decides to stand up. Mostly because things go sideways, with my other two party members winding up too close to my tank, thus getting hit as well. Tried different setups and strategies to no avail, even though I came really close to defeating it one time. It somehow manages to reset the stagger meter multiple times throughout the fight, which only makes matters worse.Yea the behemoths can be a pain given their buckets of HP when you first arrive Even post-game they take a bit to go down. At least for now, Vanille seems to be the only decent healer from what I figured out. Also makes a decent saboteur and ravager. Hope is better for raw damage, but also incredibly squishy and not versatile enough. Might change later on, though. That sounds right. Guess I will have to sit this one out and see how I will fare against the other targets, because this one at least seems like an unreasonable difficulty spike.
It kind of works, if everything goes well. I think it might be a lot more doable if I manage to trick it into getting a pre-emptive strike.I had to look this one up but I don't think it's one you're not supposed to be doing at this point. Does COM/RAV/MED or COM/RAV/SEN not work on it?
This is one thing I love about FF13 endgame: Sure, sometimes the answer is just "level up more" or "improve your weapon more", but oftentimes the hunts or harder battles are more like puzzles, and you just have to solve them with the right combo of paradigms, timing, and knowing what to expect. And while I'm often down on the concept of "you have to learn the fight by doing it and failing so that you then know what to equip or do differently" since it's repetetive and can get old, FF13 generally makes it so quick and snappy to retry battles and you don't lose anything to do so that it's fairly painless. It kind of works, if everything goes well. I think it might be a lot more doable if I manage to trick it into getting a pre-emptive strike.
Edit: Managed to do it without a pre-emptive strike by adding RAV/SEN/SAB to the mix as well. Five stars even. Feels good to have cracked it.
This is me with LiveALive. I think I can do it, since I only have about 8-10 hours left I think? But the hype for XC3 is soooooo high right nowSo hype for xbc3, But can I get through cyberslueth before it? I’m on chapter 13, I have a sleuth rank of 13, I have a dozen or so ultimate/mega mons. Now that I think about it do I need to keep doing side cases or grinding for a while?
Almost tempted to just swap to fewthThis is me with LiveALive. I think I can do it, since I only have about 8-10 hours left I think? But the hype for XC3 is soooooo high right now
Psyched for ya!First time playing a FE game and kinda kicking myself for not having given the series a shot earlier.
I'm in a similar place as some of you. Playing Future Connected and am 9 hours in. Have to finish this by Friday.
About the game, I like the updated fashion the two main protags have. Music's nice, and some smaller changes like that you get these coins from unique monsters to buy arts books, or that you get all of these fetch and kill quest from one NPC all at once instead of "talk to them once to get monster hunt quest 1, talk again to get 2" and so forth.
Curious to see how these places have changed in Xenoblade 3.
I just played Awakening for the first time last month and had a great time! I think it unlocks at chapter 4 iirc.I really really shouldn't have started Fire Emblem Awakening a couple nights ago while I wait for Live A Live to arrive tomorrow. I'm trying to get to the part where Spotpass downloads and the eShop unlock and I'm pretty sure this has the potential to get its hooks in me good if I give it ample time. Already grabbed the other two 3DS games and will be picking up Three Houses. I’ve still got a functioning Wii U so I can snag whatever is on VC if nothing comes to NSO before March 2023Psyched for ya!
With Fates and Shadows of Valentia also on there (and ofc Three Houses on switch) you got a lot to look forward to.
And hopefully GBA on NSO arrives soon and brings Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones w/ it
Now that XC3 is imminent I realized I really want to play it soon, but im about 2/3 the way through XC1 and maybe 1/3 through 2 not counting their DLC. So I have picked up my XC 1 save and been playing it for a couple days. I am
about to take the elevator to Agni Rathi or whatever city is on Mechonis head
anyone know how much more time I have to beat this game? This is the furthest I’ve ever been and it’s been fun
Not sure why this didn’t quote your full post, but for your Xenoblade 1 question you are pretty close to the end at that point. I’d say 10-20 hours depending on how focused you are. You’ll typically beat Xenoblade at level 80 or so if that helps. Future Connected is about 15-20 hours if you play that too.I have put around 50 hours into Rune Factory 5 on PC since launch a couple weeks ago.
i would say thats pretty accurate except future connected i beat it at 4 hours and fifty minutes getting half of the nopons and doing very little sidequests. Not sure why this didn’t quote your full post, but for your Xenoblade 1 question you are pretty close to the end at that point. Hmmm, I honestly didn't even remember this boss. Looking it up online didn't help, either, so I don't really have much advice. Apparently it's easier if you never stagger it, even though it'll take a while?People might be sick of reading about FF13 at this point, but I am stuck on the Proudclad rematch boss fight in chapter 12 (2nd phase specifically) and I need a place to vent my frustration.
Tried different combinations, even did the unspeakable in looking up strats online, and I can not do it.
Fuuu—
Yeah, I dunno. I only ever saw the no stagger advice in reference to the first encounter, but I will check if it also applies to the rematch. If not, I might have to put in some grinding to fill out the crystarium a bit more.Hmmm, I honestly didn't even remember this boss. Well, it took 12 gruesome minutes, but I did it. Not staggering him does not change the fight one bit, btw. Haste is an absolute game-changer in this game and is why I often open with COM/RAV/SYN until you get gear that has Auto-Haste. FWIW, I think Sazh learns it earlier than Hope which is why I was bringing him along for most of the game. What made a difference was to have Hope learn Haste, even though it involved a bit of grinding.
Onwards to the final chapter!
I tried using Sazh for this fight for Haste specifically, but Hope can be an emergency MED as opposed to him, and I went into this fight with a survivability and attrition mentality after nothing else worked for me.Haste is an absolute game-changer in this game and is why I often open with COM/RAV/SYN until you get gear that has Auto-Haste. Impressions (Prologue + Part of Chapter 1)
This is my first Atlus game & first game that has much of a connection to the Fire Emblem series.
Right away, I love the style, the music, the vibrant city and pop/idol vibes are a lot of fun.
The cartoon cutscenes are great.
The characters seem fun so far.
I am excited to explore the battle system, especially as more chain-attacks (Sessions) reveal themselves.
Maybe I'm missing out on them, but I feel like there should be more RPG's that take place in the modern, real world. It's so great to have this pop idol management company as a home base, for example.
And hello to Shibuya! I remember that meeting place statue from The World Ends with You!
Naturally, I got a smoothie from the cafe.
I'm about to go into the studio.
I'm thankful that it hasn't gotten pervy. Fingers crossed that continues.
Everything has been smooth sailing so far, and I'm excited to play more.
@Dunban any thoughts?Who needs heals if you can't get hit.
I want to say it took me about 2.5ish hours for Near Future. Edo Japan is 3ish hours and is definitely the longest of the first seven scenarios. Can any Live Alivers tell me how long the Near-Present chapter is? I've heard the Ninja chapter is the longest, and those are the two I've got left before the next phase of the game. Probably do Near-Present tonight, but it's nice to have an idea of how long it'll be, especially because I want to do some reading.
Thanks compadre, might be a little long to get through in one sitting but we'll see. Might not be possible to finish this before I arrive home on Monday, given there's more after that.I want to say it took me about 2.5ish hours for Near Future. Regrettably, this is where I end my playthrough, at least for now. I lack the patience to deal with this fight atm. Maybe I should have returned to Gran Pulse after all before pressing on, but I really wanted to wrap this up for good. Oh, well.Orphan absolutely sucks, and I hate not being able to save between back-to-back boss fights, ugh.
Almost had them once, but then shit just went sideways within a matter of seconds.
This is my main gripe with this fight. Everything can go splendidly, only for it to fall apart incredibly quickly, without there being much for you to do about it. I feel like you have to get at least a little bit lucky with the fight, and in my half a dozen or so attempts I had no such luck.Debuffs I think are really useful but even knowing some of the strategy around it the execution didn't leave a lot of room for error I felt.
I didn’t like Riki all that much when I first played Xenoblade since he is barely in the main story, but everything in Future Connected caused me to do a 180 on the character and my more thorough playthrough with the Definitive Edition where I played all of the side quests and did all of the affinity chart stuff sealed the deal. Riki’s awesome and (having not played 3 yet) him and his children are definitely my favorite Nopon in the series. After a week, I finished Future Connected in 16 hours (and one day too late for Xenoblade 3). It was great to see the cut region from the main game and the music is fantastic. Nene and Kino, who are the playable characters besides Shulk and Melia, flesh out Riki's character and emphasize what a good dad and character he is. There isn't much to say about the gameplay. (Just in case, potential XC1 final game spoiler)Shulk lost his visions, so one has to time Monado arts pre-emptively. The ponspectors give the player an additional motivation to explore and at the same time can be used as special attack at a full party gauge.
The story is about Melia - who seemsto have gotten over Shulk - and how she deals with being the empress of the nearly extinct High-Entia and reconquering Alcamoth from the fog king. I guess it connects to the future in the way that Teelan, a boy tied to a quest in the main game, might be able to retransform the Telethia, a mysterious rift (from another dimension?) and Melia's coronation at the end of the game. Now, having seen XC3 trailers, I can't wait how these things actually turn out in the distant future.
How dare you not doing the heart-to-hearts. /sI didn’t like Riki all that much when I first played Xenoblade since he is barely in the main story, but everything in Future Connected caused me to do a 180 on the character and my more thorough playthrough with the Definitive Edition where I played all of the side quests and did all of the affinity chart stuff sealed the deal. Yeah when I played the game the first time I stuck with the same party almost all the way through so I never saw too many of the heart to hearts. I don’t remember if I saw all of them, but I definitely saw a great deal more with my Definitive Edition playthrough since I made sure to max out everyone’s affinity with Shulk at least. How dare you not doing the heart-to-hearts. /s
But seriously, some of them are very important in understanding the characters, with Riki being the primary example imo. Maybe we see one of his distant descendants in 3.
