30th page of Mario Kart! Whoo!

This makes this thread the second largest game-specific ST, only behind Metroid Dread. I'm really glad that we've been able to maintain so much discussion. Here's to potentially reaching number 1! Well, until Xenoblade 3 or BotW 2 are released, at any rate.

Any possibility that the Mario Kart DLC is revealed at the start of next week (let’s say Tuesday) to release the following Tuesday? Or following Friday or something like that?

I expect that tbh, no way Mario Strikers gets a longer announcement-release for updates than 8DX

Always possible, but I think this week solely belongs to Xenoblade. Would love to be wrong as I’m excited for both. Wasn’t expecting Switch Sports news yesterday on Live A Live day.

We’ve already seen that Nintendo is willing to do news during launch week if another game. The Xenoblade direct was just 2 days before Three Hopes launched.

Wave 2 won’t be released next week, but it could definitely be announced.

definitely going with announcement next week. at this point the later it drops the shorter the gap to wave 3 because there has to be a cut-off point mid December for that.

This is something I hadn't really considered: it would be really nice to have something new and multiplayer right in the holiday season that has historically been financially unviable for selling games.

+1 for Shroom Ridge easily the best DLC track aside from the odd incident involving cars. perfect corners for getting UMTs & lots of variety in terms of how you can play it.

Shroom Ridge is absolutely excellent and plays incredibly well in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This should've been in base game and not Toad's Turnpike.

I think Shroom Ridge is the best track in wave 1 :) But I am a fan of traffic filled tracks in general. Just give me Mushroom City/Bridge and I will be extremely happy again. Either that or Moonview Highway. That would actually be better, since that is my favourite traffic track in Mario Kart history. I’m sad MK8 didn’t really add another new one back in 2014.

I gotta get some more MK8D time in once I finish Stray in a day or so. All this Shroom Ridge talk has me feigning to race again!

Also they reeeeeally should just get the announcement out of the way even if it does drop the first week in August.

Ninja Hideaway remains my runaway fav, but Shroom Ridge is really fantastic. I completely forgot the course existed until the Booster Pass came along and now it’s a regular staple every time I play. The turns are wicked fun, dodging the cars is an excellent dynamic challenge, and I love the simple aesthetic (I wish Toad Circuit looked liked this).

My rankings of the courses would be:

1 Ninja Hideaway
2 Choco Mountain
3 Coconut Mall
4 Shroom Ridge
5 Tokyo Blur
6 Paris Promenade
7 Sky Garden
8 Toad Circuit

I really love my top five. I might swap Paris and Sky Garden depending on the day. I appreciate Toad Circuit as it’s a good beginner friendly course and it feels better here than in MK7, but it does little for me personally otherwise besides the music being good.

I think my ranking would be

Shroom Ridge
Toad Circuit
Tokyo Blur
Coconut Mall
Ninja Hideaway
Choco Mountain
Sky Garden
Paris Promenade

A handful of tracks suffer for their visuals (Choco Mountain, Sky Garden), while the complexity of Paris Promenade and Ninja Hideaway really turn me off on them.

  1. Coconut Mall
  2. Ninja Hideaway
  3. Shroom Ridge
  4. Choco Mountain
  5. Sky Garden
  6. Paris Promenade
  7. Tokyo Blur
  8. Toad Circuit
I’m a huge simp for DS and Wii so it’s no surprise that 4 of my top 5 are represented in those two games.

1. Shroom Ridge
2. Tokyo Blur
3. Paris Promenade
4. Coconut Mall
5. Ninja Hideaway
6. Sky Garden
7. Choco Mountain
8. Toad Circuit

Not the strongest wave, mainly solid, albeit, simple tracks

y'all fucking hate toad circuit god damn

7 was my first mario kart so I've got nostalgia for it
Toad Circuit is...fine? It's fine. It's a good first course. Of course, when people have been playing MK8 for 8 years (or 5 if we're just talking Deluxe), the desire for a "first course" is lesser among a hardcore group. Least that's my take, anyway.

This has kinda always been my view anyway, like placing the intro circuits from previous games in Retro cups never made me excited lol

But I get it, it’d be weird to just not include any

1. Tokyo Blur
2. Paris Promenade
3. Coconut Mall
4. Sky Garden
5. Shroom Ridge
6. Ninja Hideaway
7. Choco Mountain
8. Toad Circuit

I live not far from Tokyo, so I always enjoy seeing its sights. I want to like Ninja Hideaway, but there are too many corners that I just can't take at any sort of speed.

great - Shroom Ridge
good - Ninja Hideaway, Choco Mountain
tolerable - Toad Circuit, Sky Garden, Coconut Mall
bad - Paris, Tokyo

lol

1. Shroom Ridge
2. Coconut Mall
3. Ninja Hideaway
4. Toad Circuit
5. Choco Mountain
6. Paris Promenade
7. Tokyo Blur
8. Sky Garden

The city tracks were always the more “meh” of those tracks. Sky Garden; I like it for Time Trails (in that mode I mainly like simpel courses) but other than that it’s just disappointing, knowing it’s my favourite GBA track in Super Circuit itself.

Toad Circuit is cool because of the Toad Balloons. I like Ninja Hideaway the most because it felt like a Mario Kart track unlike any other before it to me. My least favourites are Choco Mountain and Sky Garden for sure, they are ok but I really like all the other ones.

my distaste for both Tokyo & Paris comes from the fact they are both too wide, open & boring. Lack of corners to attack especially in Tokyo & a lack of meaningful shortcuts that would make them both more exciting to race. Sky Garden is sort of the inverse in that it's too short & narrow and becomes a spamfest in the middle.

Also, my “hype” top 8 for the possible next 8 tracks:

1. Mysterious new track (of course!)
2. GBA Rainbow Road
3. Mushroom Gorge
4. Waluigi Pinball
5. New York Minute
6. Kalimari Desert (really hoping it’s 1 and 2 combined, fingers crossed!)
7. Sydney Sprint
8. Mario Circuit 3 (but I hope it will be just as much fun as Toad Circuit)

Track wise I think this wave is potentially better than wave 1.

Ooh neat idea! My hype list for wave 2 pre reveal trailer:

1 New Track - it’s new, it’s mysterious. Hopes and dreams all start here.
2 Rainbow Road GBA - If they get it right, it’ll likely be my favorite, if they don’t uh oh.
3 Waluigi Pinball - Historically I like the other non-city courses more, I just feel they’ll give this one the VIP treatment and make it feel extra awesome.
4 Mario Circuit 3 - Awesome track when brought back on the Wii version. I expect to love it again.
5 Mushroom Gorge - Great track. The Mushroom section is very good and chaotic.
6 Kalimari Desert - I like this track a lot, especially aesthetically, but waiting for the train at times is meh.
7 New York Minute and Sydney Sprint - I haven’t played Tour so these are new to me, but those retro tracks are all pretty exciting. Even Kalimari which I just kinda dunked on, I still really want to see it come back. Consider this resting hype until I see them in action.

ooh, this is a neat idea

New Track
Mario Circuit
Kalimari Desert
Waluigi Pinball
Mushroom Gorge
New York Minute
Sydney Sprint
Rainbow Road

After Sky Garden my expectations for the GBA tracks are very low. Meanwhile I expect Mario Circuit to play well and sound amazing.

1. Shroom Ridge

  7. ???
  8. Mario Circuit 3
Hard for me to get super excited for a track I know nothing about.

6. “New” track

This is the same order as how I would've ordered it.

I have no idea how Tour handles Mario Circuit 3 but I would be lying if I said I wasn't anticipating its return at least somewhat eagerly after playing a ton of Mario Kart Wii back in the day

Surely we'll hear soon about Wave 2, I expected it last week and now expect it this week and so on. I'm excited for the possible mystery course, do we think it's Sweet themed ? How about based on Kirby's Dream Buffet ?
