News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

To Nintendo's credit, they sure know how to set expectations by specifically calling it a "Partner Showcase".

I wish I could muster interest in Xeno, FE or Splatoon, but I guess I got time for the backlog until Bayonetta and Pokemon.

I pray I'll eat crow tomorrow on my doomposting today, but I'm not holding my breath.
How would you feel if tomorrow's Direct had nothing for you except GoldenEye 007? I remember you being interested in that. And no, this sadly isn't me teasing anything.

Atlus has released Persona 5 Strikers, Shin Megami Tensei 3, Shin Megami Tensei V, Catherine Full Body, and that Persona 4 fighting game in the past few years alone. This "Atlus hates Switch" idea is really not a thing. Persona is coming to Xbox so it's also coming to Switch.

Edit: AND 13 Sentinels!
The only things Atlus has personally realeased on the system are SMT5 & I believe Catherine Full Body. All the other games you listed were done by other parties:
13 Sentinels= Vanillaware
P4FAU= Arcsystem
P5S= Koei-Tecmo
Hell their latest game in Soul Hackers 2 is completely skipping because they are trying to appeal to the West.

We’ll see about the Persona games if & in what fashion. But suffice to say Atlus hasn’t been the greatest on the system so far.

Can I just say I love video games and I'm excited to see more of them tomorrow? This stuff is great.
Enjoying video games? Being excited for stuff? How absolutely disgusting!

I need to take a shower after reading something so vile.

🤪

Can we just talk about how baffling not making Souls Hackers 2 available on Switch is though?

The game would probably sell better as a decently well advertised Switch exclusive than it will as a "everything but Switch" release. Maybe I'm way off the mark here but I can't see that game doing that well financially (even though I think it looks pretty good from a critical standpoint)

Is the Direct just going be Third Party or just focusing on Third Party meaning 1 or 2 first party games could show up?
I would say the safest bet is to expect no first party games and be pleasantly surprised if Nintendo smuggles one or two in, then expect 1-2 to show up and be burned when none do.

It’s a partners showcase with info on 3rd party games, not a “focus” on them. So as close to 0% as you can get. But it’s Nintendo so there’s always 1 in a billion chance

Imagine the last segment of the Mini Partner being Phil Spencer revealing Goldeneye for Switch and Gamepass. But wait, there's more!

Screen fades to black

GUH-HUH
Is that Goldeneye coming to Switch and Gamepass or Goldeneye and Gamepass coming to Switch?

There is a world where Mario + Rabbids 2 is the biggest game project ever involving a Nintendo IP. Breath of the Wild was huge and all by Nintendo standards, but we're talking about Ubisoft Milan/Paris with at least 3 other studios helping (Montpellier, Chengdu, and Pune) working on it for at least 4 years. Ubisoft projects have a scope that Nintendo doesn't even want to touch. It's kind of crazy to think about. I think the game could surprise some people.

I've always wanted to play Baten Kaitos so I'm willing a collection into existence for a reveal tomorrow for y'all.

it's especially funny given that the most accessible way (the only way to buy it officially) to play Soul Hackers 1 is on the 3DS (at least till the 3DS e-shop shuts down)

2nd half of June - third party focused Partners Direct. To give sole focus on the third party games to not get overshadowed.
1st half of July - first and second party Direct . To give focus on Nintendo made games.

I can dream...

So I feel crazy since with the 2018 rumored game now being assumed as nicer automata (unless I missed updated speculation), I swear I read a rumor around the time of the sept 2021 direct that noted platinum was gonna be releasing ports of some of their other games in the future...

I'm probably crazy but I swear more platinum titles beyond bayonetta was rumored last year...

considering how low it is in the pre order chart in Japan compared to SMTV and the lack of promotion outside of Japan, I don't expect the game to break the 1 Million copies milestone. Atlus will be forced to port the game to Switch as soon as possible. It will make them rethink their decision in the future.

There must be some bigger things than Nier in this direct, because of that's the game that could have confused people into thinking it would be a general direct, it's fairly weak. Nier is however perfect for the middle of a mini direct.

While I do think it should've also been on Switch, some are acting like it means Atlus will never release a game on a Nintendo system ever again and that leap in logic is far more baffling to me.

Successful games get ported, the ones that underperform/flop don’t. If it flops it could affect Switch support in the future by Atlus but not SH2 port

As someone who has never played a Persona game but has always wanted to, are Persona 3, 4 and 5 all solid games?
Persona 4 Golden is an excellent update to the PS2 original and a good place to start. Opinions on Persona 3 Portable are divisive, but I prefer it to previous versions. I have no opinion on Persona 5 since I barely made a dent in it on the PS3 before dropping it due to lack of time.
Atlus first multiplatform and day 1 JRPG ever, that is supossed to become one of the pilars of the platform is skipping Switch. If for such important release they don’t consider Switch why they would for their biggest franchise?
I think people are taking the "pillar" statement out of context. Reading the interview Atlus meant bringing in talent from outside their internal studios when developing games as a pillar to build upon for the future.

What do you think Nintendo will open and close on? Gotta be something big.
Since it is not livestreamed, don't expect a big third party exclusive reveal. But maybe something on the caliber of Nier Automata or persona 5 (highly requested port). Or FF9 remake (although multiplatform)...Nah, scrap that, that seems too big of a reveal for a video drop.

I'll be ok if its as good or close to the one from September 2020. Open with the Capcom logo for good vibes.

Don't think there are many ports at this point that would make me excited, at least realistic ports. But hey, if Bamco wants to surprise me by putting an Xillia duology on Switch so I don't have to pick up my dualshock 3 ever again, I won't be against that.

I hope Persona doesn't show up because the salt and meltdowns here whenever they are not announced for Switch is frankly extremely entertaining.

So has anyone mentioned Jeff Grubb noted he heard definitively that metroid prime 1 is set for release this holiday in the podcast today?

So september direct for december release lol?

Yeah, Red Dead Redemption 2 seemed way too ambitious, Nier Automata makes more sense.

Truly the Switch will BECOME AS GODS

And beyond that, why the hell would they port rdr2 when they didn't even bring the much more lucrative and easier to port GTA 5?...
