News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

I'm a little confused, when everybody here says "New hardware", are you meaning a Switch PRO or a total new hardware?

Also, I will speak my reality here. If a PRO is announced, I just hope that Nintendo don't start making games that that will only work with the PRO, here is why:
I live in Brazil. A poor country. It's really hard to even buy games. I need to choose carefully which game to buy every year. Even to upgrade to a Pro would be a headache here. It's hard to even sell a common Switch, Nintendo is not the most popular game industry here. A game here costs around R$350 to R$400 (about 65 to 75 dollars). Doesn't sound that much right? But our minimum salary per month is R$1212 (equals to ONLY 232 dollars PER MONTH!).
I'm not against a PRO Switch. I just hope Nintendo and thirdies to don't stop bringing new games to our current Switch in favour of a PRO one. Please understand!
@Dark Cloud , I think yesterday you asked me why I was against a PRO for thirdies porting more things for Switch. Here is why. I know it's not the reality of many here, also, like I said, I'm not against It. I just fear it. It would be really hard (for me at least)

This being 25 minutes long sounds to me like a proper direct was planned at some point but they decided to pull all the first party stuff for whatever reason.

Nintendo's selection of third party stuff is usually excellent so i'm very fine with this outcome anyway.

Nah actually if it's a Switch Pro, it's the worst possible scenario rather than it being hopium lol

a new Hardware is not releasing shortly after BotW 2 or Splatoon 3, also most likely the next mainline Mario game will release on Switch too

The switch can coast with those games through the entire year, especially as it doesn't have much competition.
My point is that calling anything "a lock" when all we have is the confirmation that a hardware exists, which after 5+ years is not surprising, is really optimistic.

So true, man what is with Nintendo’s marketing decisions they really need to hire a new marketing director imo

They probably don’t see any problems with what they are currently doing much to the chagrin of certain fanbases.

Place bets:

Persona 5 Switch revealed tomorrow?
I really hope so, putting 3 & 4 in a direct but not 5 would lead to a deserved shitstorm, if they are paying to be at a direct, I suppose they want to go big. P5R on switch can sell a ton in Japan.

Also I'm really glad of all of this sudden talk about Automata. It was a dream port to me a few years ago but I lost all hope, and now everybody is rumoring it. What a time to be alive.

If I had to make a bet, I would go with September, for sure. But I wouldn't discount any possibility to be honest. We are in uncharted territory.
We have always been on uncharted territory, people just thought they know better.

It's good to keep in mind that anything can happen with Nintendo at any time, and no patterns matter.

That wouldn't surprise me. If they added first party stuff, the length would likely be closer to what we normally see in general directs.

First Party output is near perfection. The big things missing for me are Metroid Prime Trilogie and a new F- Zero. I really want them on Switch. Also give me Advance Wars, Galaxy 2 and TP/ WW as Bonus.

Third Partie wise i wish for Halo/ Mass Effect/ Batman Arkham Trilogy. But i take everything else like Persona 5 Royal as a bonus for sure.

I dont know if i really want the Nier Games. Maybe if they surprisingly announce NI3R for Switch. And if we are already at dreaming, Kingdom Hearts: Legend of the seven Stars ( or however you would name a Nintendo Spinoff).

It's been more than 5 years, potentially 6 or 7 when a new console releases. There will be exclusive games.

I'm tempted to make a list of all the third-party games I'd (re)buy old ports from if they were available on Switch, mostly in the hopes that Capcom sees EX Troopers featured on it prominently.
When it comes to this topic, Vanquish and the Shenmue games not being on Switch baffles me. Vanquish especially. I guess with Nier Automata apparently coming we're getting more of Platinum's backlog, but why no Vanquish?

OK, whatever. Third party games are ridiculously, insanely massive on Switch and there's absolutely no reason why anyone would be disappointed with this Showcase. The Steam Deck is completely insignificant compared to the might of Nintendo, and every single 5-year old port is a blessing that we should be celebrating from the rooftops. There is literally no difference between a Partner Showcase and a General Direct that would lead to people being disappointed.

My bad

Why does it bother you so much, that some people might actually like ports of well regarded games? A good game is a good game. You are really trying a bit too hard. How about simply stating that you are only interested in new exclusive content, without trying to bash Switch. Your posts are akin to someone going to a PS forum and stating that PS5 is obsolete, because PC is far superior.

How is the Switch not close to being Nintendos greatest system ever? The amount of third party games it has. The amount of first party games and counting. First system ever to get mainline persona, elder scrolls.
For me personally, as much as I like the Switch a lot of their first party offerings haven't grabbed me as much as their older systems. I think it lacks third party exclusives that interest me as much as some of Nintendo's older systems too.

If you’re already hyped for Mario + Rabbids SoH we could be eating real good. This game looking like it could be a top tier game. A huge game in scope.

Your guess would be wrong because Baten Kaitos isn't a 3D action game
Well, you wouldn't expect them to call it "JRPG with prerendered backgrounds", would you? That would narrow it down to literally one (and the sequel) game.

Baten Kaitos is co-owned with Nintendo and Namco, it should be top guess for Namco made remaster of a Nintendo game. Regardless of what they're calling it tentatively.

25 minutes sounds really good unless they spent 20 minutes on a single game. Having that said, without Nintendo games I am probably not watching it and just wait for news here on fami.

OK, sure. I don't want to argue about this anymore and nothing I say will stop people from arguing with me about this, so lets end this here and now. Sorry, again. That post was a mistake. Sorry.

Yeah, Sega is pretty weird in this regard, not just on Switch. Like how they ported the original Catherine to PC but didn't bother to bring Full Body to it. 🤷‍♂️

All I’m really hoping for tomorrow is Persona 3, 4 & 5 and a date for Alan Wake. I could live without 5 as I’ve completed vanilla and royal previously but have never played 3 or 4. That said if 5/5R does get announced I will happily triple dip.

Always love an “available now” appearing for a game that catches my eye in a Direct so hoping for one of those too!

(Lurker finally signing up, hey all!)

No Persona 5, but we'll get Persona 3 P and Persona 4 Golden this year.
Considering P3 and P4 ain't even dated for Xbox or PS yet, I doubt we see either this year. My only question is will P5R be a cloud version (gag), a late port (annoyed but acceptable), just not happening (bullshit), or is also day and date with other platforms but Nintendo wanted their own chance to announce it (the dream).

Nah, I don't think it's right to bring up the Roe vs. Wade situation in regards to this
I don't mean to pile on, but you literally did exactly this in the prediction thread yesterday, after people told you off for trying to blame insiders for not setting your expectations appropriately. I really don't think it's fair to knock HockeyBird for what they said. There are some things worth being angry about right now. A Nintendo direct isn't one of them.

I wonder if there will be at least a third party game not yet rumored/leaked/existing/announced in other platforms that will surprise everyone

But the irony in this is that people have always said Nintendo needs to do better with 3rd parties. Here they are doing a focused Direct for 3rd parties yet people are not happy.
Well, that has an easy explanation. Most people want Nintendo to do better with third parties, yes, but they don't want it instead of first party. And right now, even if it's not really true, there's a bit of a perception that Nintendo 1st party news has dried up since there hasn't been much new since February (I don't mean updates on XC3 or Pokemon, but new announcements and such, like Prime 1 and Fire Emblem).

(most) Nintendo fans are always going to be 1st-party focused. If this had been a General Direct announcement, or if they had done something like a 1st party showcase and then had a long 3rd-party Direct not long after, then everyone would be on board, I think. It's mostly just the timing.

I'd go nuts if the Switch Pro/2 got announced in the next few weeks. I mean, it'd kind of suck because I would miss the opportunity to experience Xenoblade 3 for the first time with potentially better performance.

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic thinking that if ATLUS doesn't see value bringing a new game to the Switch then they wouldn't see value bring older games.
I'd like to see Persona I'm just not expecting it.
Atlus has released Persona 5 Strikers, Shin Megami Tensei 3, Shin Megami Tensei V, Catherine Full Body, and that Persona 4 fighting game in the past few years alone. This "Atlus hates Switch" idea is really not a thing. Persona is coming to Xbox so it's also coming to Switch.

Edit: AND 13 Sentinels!

I certainly hope P5R is coming, fans deserve it and haters will finally eat crow.

As someone who has never played a Persona game but has always wanted to, are Persona 3, 4 and 5 all solid games?

They're all great RPG's, and critically lauded for a reason. Whichever one is your favorite really depends, since they can vary wildly. I'd say Persona 3 has a more mature vibe, while 4 is a bit more playful, and 5 sort of strikes a medium. Though I've heard Persona 3 can feel archaic in its dungeon design, and Persona 5 is considered too bloated/too long. (I wouldn't know since I didn't finish it fully)

And still I understand people "mad" at nintendo fans for being so down on this Partner showcase: Nintendo has dried up its info on first party just because they already announced TONS of products

No mainline Persona at all. ATLUS isn't even releasing Soul Hackers 2 on Switch.
We still have Catherine, 13 Sentinels, SMT3, SMT5, TMS#FE and Persona 5 Strikers.
I don't think it's an argument and I kinda expect Soul Hackers 2 to be a late port of it sells good enough.

As someone who has never played a Persona game but has always wanted to, are Persona 3, 4 and 5 all solid games?
4 and 5 are masterpieces, 3 I feel like its a bit dated and I dont like they went with Persona 3 portable over Persona 3 FES.

I like 3 a lot, absolutely adore 4 (as in, one of my favourite games of all time), and thought 5 was kinda awful.

Huh. Alright. No new 1st party news, but at least I'll finally get to see more Mario+Rabbids tomorrow and, hopefully, Wednesday. Mario+Rabbids is one of my most anticipated already announced games, so I'm cool with this.

I'm fine with third party announcements even if it spaces out first party releases ... the issue comes from the type of third party crap we get...
Old junk
Some day and date releases would go a LONG way in fixing the 3rd party perception on nintendo consoles.
