News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

So for regular Direct we will need to wait for September?
That is impossible to say, I think, considering Nintendo has officially broken the pattern they had established with previous Direct releases.

The next first-party presentation might come in September, or it may also be as early as next month.

Any chance we could get something along the lines of Cadence of Hyrule, a new game where Nintendo let a developer use an IP or would that be better suited for an Indie World like when Cadence of Hyrule was first revealed?

It won’t be next month I don’t think that’s a possibility cause September is 2 months away so I think they can just make tweets about first party stuff till then

Place bets:

Persona 5 Switch revealed tomorrow?

Oh for sure I'm not trying to downplay MH:Rise just that it's such a high bar that shouldn't be expected imo, MH:Stories 2 / SMT3HD type of stuff is what we should expect
I was just using your post as a leapfrog to continue the discussion 👍

You're right about expecting games that are Stories 2/Bravely Default 2 tier for new games and Chrono Cross/Klonoa tier for remasters/remakes. I'd consider Tactics Ogre Reborn the latter.

Most of the smoke around it is pure hopium. The only tangible proof we have that a new hardware exists comes from a hack.
2023 is a possibility, but calling it a lock is a stretch. Many people including yours truly believe 2024 to be more realistic.
Nah actually if it's a Switch Pro, it's the worst possible scenario rather than it being hopium lol

a new Hardware is not releasing shortly after BotW 2 or Splatoon 3, also most likely the next mainline Mario game will release on Switch too

Well, Partner Showcase, despite being a downer for many, isn't an excuse for one to stop tossing up pipe dreams into the stratosphere.

Give me:

Style Savvy.
The return of Lost Kingdoms.
Smaller-scale Mirror's Edge project.
All things FF (IX remake, FFT, Pixel remasters) at once.
Did I mention Style Savvy?

(And let me have them until I wake up, and I'll get Fifa and Nier and I have to be happy about it)

Some of you all should take that built up anger and frustration and unleash it on certain politicians and judges in the US. Just a suggestion.
Nah, I don't think it's right to bring up the Roe vs. Wade situation in regards to this. I mean, you have no clue what people are doing in regards to that or who they even are.

Personally, if I let my anger and frustration about the current state of... everything out, my mental health would absolutely plummet and that wouldn't help anyone. I'm not even American, so all I can do is be another powerless voice on the internet, or donate with the... no money I do have (there's a reason I'm doing a Xenoblade playthrough now...). I'll admit that It's likely that situation that is causing a bit of the frustration regarding this. After all it's much easier to be fine with minor disappointments when the world isn't being such a major fucking disappointment :(

Plum, don't get yourself temp banned before you post the July ST, haha.
Oh shit, I genuinely don't wanna cause shit. I'm sorry if I've fucked up like that. Just in a bit of a bad mood and I'm never a fan of accidentally getting into multi-paragraph long argument. I've edited the shitty sarcasm post with an apology. Genuinely my bad there :(

Broke: Third party means third party games
Woke: Third party means Super Mario Bros movie trailer with 20 minutes of interviewing Chris Prat in his Mario voice

If we want to doom, we doom all the way!

How is the Switch not close to being Nintendos greatest system ever? The amount of third party games it has. The amount of first party games and counting. First system ever to get mainline persona, elder scrolls.

For me, it needs more of Nintendos own classic games from GC/Wii/3DS before it hits that but it’s getting there for sure

My bet is one of Nate's speculation points in his video - P3P and P4G are coming to Switch (no P5R) but will not be announced tomorrow as they are 2023 releases. Fans will (understandably) freak out but eventually they'll be announced for Switch

3DS is still better to me but it kinda cheats due to 3DS+DS, if we only count games released for the Switch then it is my favorite

I'm tempted to make a list of all the third-party games I'd (re)buy old ports from if they were available on Switch, mostly in the hopes that Capcom sees EX Troopers featured on it prominently.

I'm not sure about that. Switch's third party library is absolutely massive but man, DS's was straight up legendary. Sure, they were on the lower budget side but that little monster gave us new IP's more than any other Nintendo system except NES.

Real talk, I legit keep seeing people think the Switch is weaker than the PS3 and 360, constantly. They'll constantly point to ports that had issues as proof or make jokes about how it'll run if they... port... a PS3/360 game.

Was always so aggravating.
I still can't understand where this "P5R maybe can't work on Switch" nonsense comes from. Far more complicated games have gotten native ports.
Reminds me of when people would tell me there was no way 13 Sentinels could ever run on the Switch.
OK, whatever. Third party games are ridiculously, insanely massive on Switch and there's absolutely no reason why anyone would be disappointed with this Showcase. The Steam Deck is completely insignificant compared to the might of Nintendo, and every single 5-year old port is a blessing that we should be celebrating from the rooftops. There is literally no difference between a Partner Showcase and a General Direct that would lead to people being disappointed.

My bad.
Grow up.

True, but regular Direct in middle of Summer doesn't make too much sense, so September most likely.

Remember a few months back there was talk of Bandai Namco working on a remaster of a Nintendo game? I think it was established as a Nintendo game, could that potentially be shown here?
The 'rumor' started because they were recruiting for such a game, it is probably in early development and we will not know about it until late 2023 imo best case scenario

I'm a little confused, when everybody here says "New hardware", are you meaning a Switch PRO or a total new hardware?

Also, I will speak my reality here. If a PRO is announced, I just hope that Nintendo don't start making games that that will only work with the PRO, here is why:
I live in Brazil. A poor country. It's really hard to even buy games. I need to choose carefully which game to buy every year. Even to upgrade to a Pro would be a headache here. It's hard to even sell a common Switch, Nintendo is not the most popular game industry here. A game here costs around R$350 to R$400 (about 65 to 75 dollars). Doesn't sound that much right? But our minimum salary per month is R$1212 (equals to ONLY 232 dollars PER MONTH!).
I'm not against a PRO Switch. I just hope Nintendo and thirdies to don't stop bringing new games to our current Switch in favour of a PRO one. Please understand!

No. It was said to just started. We probably won’t see it for another 2 years.

I know Cloud versions are a thing, but I'll reiterate that I believe devs that knows the hardware well enough can bend things we can't fathom into a playable state on Switch.

I realise, yeah. It's just frustrating when you gotta start bringing up sales charts and doing market analyses to 'justify' the point of "third party Switch games, in general, generate less excitement than first-party games and, as such, people are more likely to be disappointed when they're the focus." At some point what is the argument even about? Like, I'm not decrying the very idea of third-parties on Switch or anything, but you'd be forgiven to belief that I was.
We bring it up because “generate less excitement” & “disappointing” doesn’t exactly describe the current reality of 3rd party sales on Switch both individual & overall. It’s why I asked to “define who.” Much like the Top charts, of course Nintendo is always going to be top billing because that’s who has been propping up their systems.

But the irony in this is that people have always said Nintendo needs to do better with 3rd parties. Here they are doing a focused Direct for 3rd parties yet people are not happy.

At this point all points out to new hardware but Switch is expected to have a long lifespan already and most Nintendo games will be crossgen probably 2+ years after the release of new hardware.

It is. And then people will move the goal past and say it was remade for the PS4 and then PS5. No, it was not. It is a literal PS3 game that got benefits in resolution and lighting when it went up to PS4. Nothing was remade as it is all the same engine, same assets. And both ran at the same frame-rate.

Hell, MGS5 can be ported to Switch because again, it's a PS3 game at the end of the day the same way BoTW was a Wii U Game.
