News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

Not open for further replies.
Said it before but if Mario + Rabbids releases in (let’s say October), then I doubt we have any more surprises for this year in regards to first party. Nintendo probably views Splatoon 3 (sept), Mario + Rabbids (Oct) and Pokémon (nov) as a rock solid fal line up. Toss Advanced Wars out in December and Nintendo is set (from their point of view).

I could see Nintendo sneaking a Metroid Prime 1 HD announcement in there.

So, no speculation on Replicant then? I mean, it's obviously not the 2017-2018 game, but if they're bringing Nier, why not both? Wasn't that datamined or something?

I don't think anybody should feel bad for other people having different gaming preferences or valuing portability or the option to catch up on older games they missed in a convenient format.

I get it, your post isn't malicious; but it trends into a discourse where anybody who does get excited by the older titles coming into Switch deserves pity or scorn or is a source of bafflement. I've never got around to Nier Automata and Switch is my primary system. Why should that be a problem for another person?
It's just an opinion of mine I'm stating, that I see a lot online as well. I understand and am happy for the people wanting lots of 3rd party games they've missed out on, but the people that really want those kinds of games.. I honestly expect those people to own a playstation/xbox or ''gaming'' pc by now. Nintendo is very late with 3rd party games, and almost always have the worst version of said games. I went on a negative spiral here lol, I am glad for people that use their switch for 3rd party games, above is just my opinion.

edit: I didn't think about the portable access, which could be a big get for many. My bad lol.

Exactly what I expected. 3rd party ports from 4-6 years ago (with worse framerate for sure) lol. I feel bad for people that actually uses switch as their main console for 3rd party games, which i expect isn't a lot. And is why so many people aren't interested in these 3rd party directs lol

As a parent, I have rediscovered a ton of games I dropped on home consoles because I just didn't have the proper TV time to fully invest in 40+ hour game experiences unless it's a 10/10 like Elden Ring (which took me months).

DQXIS and Dragon's Dogma are recent examples of games that have shined for me on Switch. So I welcome P5 and Nier Automata with open arms, and look forward to their announcements.

Don’t get your hopes of for Nier Automata, people. The company that couldn’t be bothered to natively port PS3 HD remasters of PS2 games to Switch is not going to put meaningful work behind a Nier Automata port to Switch.

It is definitely Automata:

2017-2018, it was released between that time depending on the version ;)

It's hard for me to get hyped for this when it's probably a bunch of late ports , I really hope we get a couple of third party new or exclusives announcements but who am I kidding, by the way if they announce persona for switch in this what is the logic behind making switch fans wait for this kind of announcement why not share the news instantly like Sony did why drag this shit out

What was with all the June 29 rumors though? This is scheduled the day before. Wouldn't it sorta recreate the old Treehouse days if they came out tomorrow and said, "tune in tomorrow too for a livestream featuring roughly 50 minutes of information mainly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching in the second second of 2022."

Considering Switch sales in Japan at least 15m+ users dont own another console and that is just one country. Also that is just one of the annoucements most games are usually new games

So my opinion as a switch owner from a third party perspective. I don’t think bayonetta is consider third party right or is it? All I want from third party is a COD game for switch or the Lara Craft games. I doubt I’m getting either of those so it will be interesting to see if there are any surprises. I can’t think of anything else that logically has a potential to be announced. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Thank you for this. I have a gaming PC with all the bells and whistles but most of my Switch library is third party games. Hybrid convenience remains a strong reason to purchase games on that device, so I'm always excited to see what comes. I'm genuinely interested for tomorrow's direct. Would be cool to see Persona and Skyrim Anniversary.

I probably wouldn't double dip on Nier Automata, but if it does come to Switch, please pick it up. One of the best under the radar games of 2017.

Good thing that Nier Automata doesn't have license costs that could reach up to multiple million dollars. Platinum said before a port could be done, they probably did it in the end.

It's really very simple: I value portability and the software mix on Switch over immediate access to big budget games. Being interested in a late port of a title doesn't mean I'm somehow deprived of games all the time.

edit - see @Serif reply above, too.

if this means i dont have to sit through a fire emblem reveal then its not too bad

Nintendo doesn't own the studio making it nor the IP. I don't get how you can consider it first party in any way.

You should ask Nintendo why they do consider it first party.

Nintendo doesn't own the IP of Bayonetta like they do Mario, so that's not a good comparison. Sega owns Bayonetta.

If Cadence of Hyrule can be in a Partner Direct then so can Bayonetta 3.
It doesn't matter that Sega owns Bayonetta the IP, at least not to Nintendo. Whether it's featured in a Partner Direct is a different discussion entirely.

Hm. My guess after this announcement would be Twitter drops for Strikers and MK8D content (and maybe Advance Wars) as well as a Splatoon 3 Direct in July or August. I could see them going for a direct in September with a full reveal of BOTW2 (this would also fit a good marketing cycle for the game until spring 2023). Imo the big questionmark now is Nintendo's next step for hardware. I wouldn't rule something hardware related for this year out.

Nintendo considers Bayo 3 1st party and that is what matters , Sony did the same with Spiderman when it made by a 3rd party studio (at the moment) and used a 3rd party IP

I’m completely oblivious to this stuff, but why would licensing costs for native ports vs. cloud ports be different?

I read that a possible reason those are cloud only (assuming you're talking about Kingdom Hearts remasters) was because they were so heavy with prerendered cutscenes that the filesize was around.. actually lemme google

...yeah, 50GB. They're not putting a 50GB game natively on Switch.

But Nier has, to my recollection, very very few prerendered cutscenes. So just optimizing the game(s) could be enough to fit it reasonably on Switch.

I’m exactly the same. I only use portables. Any game that gets a portable version may as well be a new one to me. If it’s a few years or even a generation later, as the tech catches up or whatever, I really don’t mind. I play games I haven’t played before that are 20+ years old all the time. I’ve only got time to play through a dozen or so games a year, they are longer than ever, I’m not sitting around lamenting third party games on home consoles and computers I don’t have when I wouldn’t have time to play them if I did.

On top of all of that, my favourite series are Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and SMT. I’m finding it hard to worry about third party games when Sunbreak is by far the biggest third party game of the year for me and it’s out on Switch/PC later this week.

At this point it may as well be with Nintendo owning 2/3 games in the franchise so far. And, all signs point to those games not coming to other systems & Nintendo wanting to potentially do more. It’s as close to being 1st party as a 3rd party IP can be.

I think we‘ll see Bayonetta 3 in the Partners or at least get some infos soon.

I don't get why we would se Bayonetta 3 there, isn't it by Nintendo?

Also if I would wish a 3rd Party Game, then it would be a "2D-HD" Remake of Secret of Mana...

If a game like Persona is announced to the Switch, i'll buy it in a heartbeat, even while owning a Series S. I understand those who want to play the game with the best possible graphics and performance, but between this and playing it portable (considering work and the minimal time available to me for TV playing), i'll easily go with the latter

You know what will be the funniest part of this direct? Every game being shown people claiming no way that is running on current switch hardware that has to be running on upgraded switch hardware. 😂 can’t wait just for those takes.

Yeah, cloud versions don't get rated for the new platform, they're basically PC games streamed elsewhere. Square probably expected Nintendo to foot the bill like MS and Epic did, when they refused they picked the cheapest route.
