News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

No reason to assume major drops on twitter. Nintendo has been doing regular directs since 2021. This is because there is no E3 (and maybe hardware coming) they’re doing something different
I'm not saying Directs are dead, but this does make a Summer direct look a lot less likely. If those announcements that would have been at E3 aren't in a Summer Direct, they would have to be on Twitter. We know Strikers and Mario Kart are 100% getting something announced in the next month or two.

Quake 2 pls

Also, let's hope Jeff can shine some light. Because, as is often the case with Nintendo, it's all about communication. It would've been nice to have a rough idea of what's going to happen, because they could've planned all kinds of stuff this summer - placing this enigmatic Partner Direct into context.

This basically lines up with what I said previously: if too many people know about the Direct it's for sure Mini/Partner, there is no way that too much people would knew about the General. Keep this mind till next time.

Predictions for tomorrow:

1. 20 minutes of Monster Hunter Sunbreak
2. Atlus trailer that reveals nothing but “more info to come December 2023”
3. Troll and Us reveal (Troll and I sequel)

The difference between Japanese and western reactions on twitter is gold.
The West : doom. Gloom. ANGER.
Japan :

Show me Tactics Ogre, FFIX, Panzer Dragoon 2 remake, whatever Treasure was teasing (it’s Radiant Silvergun) the next ‘impossible port’ and something interesting like Killer 7 and I’ll be more than happy.

If Persona is there, I hope they don’t spend too much time on them. Not my franchise at all.

Interesting phrasing there: Jeff's gonna talk about how a third-party showcase ties into Nintendo's holiday games.

I already said Mario + Rabbids could easily take up a 'big holiday game' spot (an October release, maybe?), but could Nintendo have other high profile third party games in that window? I struggle to think of anything outside of Dragon Quest, and I don't see III Remake being ready yet (which would be enormous in Japan).

I wonder if Nintendo is saving its first party stuff for a new hardware reveal (I'm only half kidding)

Nier Automata feels pretty late to the party but it's nice to see nonetheless. Should get around to playing it one of these days
Considering Crisis Core (a Square side game that while not AAA is not just a HD version) is coming to Switch, it seems SE is setting up to become a big supporter of Nintendo hardware in the future both the Square and Enix side.

Resident Evil Revelations Raid Mode 3.0!

I think he means more how they are going to reveal their holiday games since they are just doing a third party showcase tomorrow.

Bro if Nier is actually finally coming to Switch they got me, damn. I wanted that so much in 2018-2019 but gave up hope. Handheld Nier would get me fuuuuck

I don’t know who that person is and if they are reliable but Nier Automata is one of the few games I’d buy a second time because it’s just that good. One of Platinum’s finest works.

I mean yeah, I took that as a given before Jeff tweeted this. But to me that also reads like Jeff will talk about how these third party announcements fill out some of (not all of) Nintendo's holiday line up.

Not long to find out, anyway.

Some of the Partner Directs in 2020 were bad and some alright, and I honestly feel that even a bad Direct is better than no Direct, although I guess there's no justification for it. I'm just glad that there's something!

RDR2 seemed too good to be true, I'm looking forward to finally playing Nier Automata now - I hear this game has lots of endings, do you need to do a full playthrough each time?

OK, you might remember this from the other thread:

So...

For reference:

Exactly what I expected. 3rd party ports from 4-6 years ago (with worse framerate for sure) lol. I feel bad for people that actually uses switch as their main console for 3rd party games, which i expect isn't a lot. And is why so many people aren't interested in these 3rd party directs lol

It's still a third party IP. Bayonetta isn't suddenly first party solely because Nintendo is funding it.
Bayonetta is a 3rd party Ip , Bayo 2/3 are first party games both things can be true at the same time. Nintendo considers the game they produce like Bayo 2/3 first party titles

Yeah this is sounds more and more like a Square-Enix Direct. If they reveal Nier Automata, Replicant announcement sure will be there. And close the damn Direct with FF9 remake reveal. ahhh...

I’ve been wondering about this also. They could be preparing something akin to the January 2017 Switch presentation.

I'm actually more excited about a partner's direct. I mean we know Nintendo is gonna cook, now time to hope for some third party good reveals

After 1 month and 400 pages of speculation, this is the correct reaction.

We must be in the same meeting! Guess who is going to ignore the meeting and watch the direct anyway?
I need to be on this one :(
I am an important key part of it ahah

Said it before but if Mario + Rabbids releases in (let’s say October), then I doubt we have any more surprises for this year in regards to first party. Nintendo probably views Splatoon 3 (sept), Mario + Rabbids (Oct) and Pokémon (nov) as a rock solid fal line up. Toss Advanced Wars out in December and Nintendo is set (from their point of view).

I think me and you are one of the few people really looking forward to this - love playing 3rd party games on my Switch!

I don't think anybody should feel bad for other people having different gaming preferences or valuing portability or the option to catch up on older games they missed in a convenient format.

I get it, your post isn't malicious; but it trends into a discourse where anybody who does get excited by the older titles coming into Switch deserves pity or scorn or is a source of bafflement. I've never got around to Nier Automata and Switch is my primary system. Why should that be a problem for another person?

The big announcement will be an exclusive open world Ace Attorney. Don’t ask me how the hell that would work.

Nier Automata, Tetris Effect, and Outer Wilds were my long-time holy trinity of "ports that would make me not have to buy a PS4" so that would be great news if only the Outer Wilds port were not definitely canceled
