I like being a curmudgeon

Now leave me alone ya damn kids! Get of my lawn!
You can't be clowning people when I recognized this was happening way before you did, and yet you got so upset with insiders for getting people's hopes up

If you were really a curmudgeon (like me) you would've seen this possibility from the start

I can't believe Nintendo is going to wait until September, 7 months after their February Direct, to show their 1st party stuff. Hopefully a general Direct later this summer.

I'm not sure I share in the negativity here gang. I said before if we go with what we know of/what's rumoured, it should be a good show. A Direct Mini which includes a Goldeneye port, a Mario + Rabbids 2 deep dive and the reveal of games like Persona would be great IMO
There’s nothing wrong with being negative. It’s a Partners direct and it’s not even being streamed.

Tradition is officialy dead! Every year without E3 will mean no general Direct. It will only get worse if Nintendo start to shadowdrop 1st party things on twitter again. Total excitement kill for me. Hope this one is good at least.
THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT YOU SHIT-EATING JOKE OF A GAME EXPO

I wouldn't look into any deeper than E3 was cancelled and they decided to split their announcements up this year, like Grubb suggested.

Sure, that it also what I think is the case, but why would they do this.... but in other hands, Playstation Fans also only got 3rd Party Updates with their last Stae of Play, so maybe Nintendo will give us Updates on their own Games later and in a other way... still strange

Guess it was the mini-partner combination, huh. Anyway, hoping to see some new info on Demon Throttle and other games that disappeared for a while (Bayo 3, Hollow Knight, etc).

I imagine MK8, Strikers and NSO news will just be Twitter stuff…

They specifically said this show will feature 3rd party games, as opposed to the, “publishing and development partners” label used in 2020. Possibly a change in what to expect?

We used to get a Big First party holiday release as well as Pokémon, this has only really changed the last couple of years, which sucks for me as I don’t like Pokémon games.
Only 2020 also lacked a big holiday title from Nintendo that wasn’t Pokemon , last year we had Mario Party (which people can like more or less but is bigger than almost all Nintendo franchises)

Yeah let’s not assume Nintendo is waiting until September. We’re over here getting a partners direct which isn’t norm

I said July but Nate said summer so that's my mistake

I noticed this too, but...what doesn that mean? in terms of "prestige/contents" I mean..
Literally nothing, trying to find a pattern in what a general consensus on the quality of any given direct will be is like trying to find a pattern in lottery numbers.

Not sure what the big deal is?

Nothing wrong with having a direct focused on their party partners. How is this 2020? We already know most of their roadmap this year and we have some big games with Xenoblade, Splatoon, and Pokémon.

I feel Nintendo fans biggest enemy are themselves lol

I'm curious for this Partner, as i really want to see Persona games, the Arkham Collection and maybe a RDR port announced. But i really don't think H2 will be just Xenoblade, Splatoon and Pokémon in terms of first-party content. They probably have another event planned for later in the summer
One would hope. Sure some think 2022 is stacked, but Zelda was originally planned for this year, and it seems they aren't filling the gap when it got moved into 2023. It doesn't have to be a big release, those rumored Zelda/Metroid remasters would do.

People just want more than just Pokemon being the only holiday title, especially for two years now. It would take a big third-party release in my opinion to offset the gaps Nintendo has in H2 2022, but that doesn't seem likely.

I am feeling insanely vindicated right now, even if I eventually conceded to the general mini camp
This is precisely why I don't like making definite statements about what Nintendo will or won't do. You're just opening yourself up for people to dunk on you for whatever reason lmfao

I wonder about Mario Kart tracks though? Like they must have the next pack happening sometime in the next month-ish, will they just be a Twitter drop?

Well, let's see what's in it, at least.

Look, if Capcom wants to announce a new Mega Man tomorrow, who am I to argue?

Fixed, to make it a bit more suitable to my desires. Plus, I don't see any other RE game announcements when Capcom's got a pretty full slate on that front, at the moment.

Predictions

  • Persona games coming to Switch
  • Mario & Rabbids story trailer
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance Switch port
  • Portal collection dated
  • Outer Wilds dated
  • Sonic Frontiers Switch gameplay
  • Hogwart's Legacy Switch gameplay
  • Tactics Ogre remake
  • Nier Automata Switch port

would be weird if we don't get a first party one this week or the next.

Everyone forgetting that Nate and some other guy I forget both saying with the info they had they would be surprised if it’s a mini…aka they were probably aware of multiple big 3rd party announcements. Forget nintendoomed posting and bring back the hype

Rules out Bayonetta 3, as far as I'm concerned, because that's first-party. I'd go in expecting Sparks of Hope as the highlight (now a fitting subtitle, because it's the one really big new game to expect - the spark of hope that Partner Showcase could be decent), and the usual mix we get on Switch: ports, indies, RPGs.

25 minutes is pretty long for a Partner/Mini. Curious to see what they will show. I kinda wish Persona Switch will show just so people can stop griping about it.

Also probably means no first-party news until… well I don’t think they’ll wait til September, so maybe late summer.

If Persona is there, then there is no disappointment to be had.

Can’t relate to all the doomposting. My backlog is exploding with games. This 25 minute commercial will suffice fine.

Fine by me, I'm just glad a direct is happening at all at this point. I'm sure there will be something shown that interests me, even though there's the possibility that Mario+Rabbids sequel/Silksong will show here and I have zero interest in both.

Only thing I really want is a NSO n64 roadmap 2. And if they got a bunch of licensed games for it, it could totally be here

Inb4 it’s almost completely third party games for the next roadmap

25 Minutes of Third Party- Stuff? That sounds really nice. I like it, if it have some of this:

Alan Wake
Batman Arkham Trilogy
Bayonetta 3
Call of Duty
Darksiders 4
Dark Souls Trilogy
Dying Light 2
Elden Ring
Epic Mickey
Fallout
Final Fantasy 13 Collection
Final Fantasy Pixel Master
Golden Eye
Halo MCC Collection
Hollow Knight Silksong
Hogwarts Legacy
Kingdom Come: Deliverence
Mafia Trilogie
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Mass Effect Trilogy
Persona 5 Royal
Portal Collection
Red Dead Redemption 2
Resident Evil 2,3,7,8 Revelation 3
Street Fighter
Tactics Ogre Remaster
Tekken
Timesplitters
Tomb Raider Trilogy

Let's Go!!!

25 mins of just 3rd party offerings means Nintendo itself has too much to show - is how I feel. I figure we’ll get a FP Direct in a month, maybe right before or after XBC3. It’ll detail new FE, MonkEPD, Zelda, Bayo3, MP, etc.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they're going this route cause

1. No obligation to do a big E3 style Direct.

2. The current upcoming releases being Xenoblade Chronicles 3 AND Splatoon 3 are very strong.

3. Satisfy their third party partners with announcements.

Things I expect to pop up on twitter randomly over the coming months:

  • Splatoon 3 Direct announcement (We need this asap)
  • Video showcasing Wave 2 of N64 NSO titles
  • MK8D Booster Pack Wave 2 trailer + release date
  • Mario Strikers Battle League updates (the Daisy y'all
Yeah i am fine with instead of a Regular Mini they are probably going to announce smaller 1st party stuff on twitter soon enough. It just will be exciting to watch a Direct this week and I am crossing my fingers the Partner is good

And I kind of expect an early September General direct, but will start hyping for that in late August lol

I didn't get upset with insiders, though. What are you talking about?

If it's the one post where I said "if you're gonna blame someone..." that was referring to another poster saying that the only reason people might have expected a Direct was themselves. Just stating the simple fact that we wouldn't have expected a Direct in this specific week had insiders not mentioned it. It wasn't an indictment of them; they have the information they have and it's not their fault if said information can lead to heightened expectations. I mean, why shoot the messenger?

And, yeah, the curmudgeon thing is a joke lol. I mean, I made a whole-ass bingo competition due to the hope of this being a full, proper Direct. I actually do think that there's a possibility of something really big coming soon as well. It's not serious.

I also think its as easy as new stuff not being ready to show. Given that we had such a big gameplay blow out for breath of the wild the summer before it launched though, does have me worried that maybe they arent super confident in that spring 2023 time slot

Y'all are taking the on-demand part way too seriously. All the PS in 2020 were shadow-dropped with the exception of the September one which announced Monster Hunter Rise. I'm pretty sure Warner Bros or Atlus or Rockstar or whoever don't care that the announcement of their latest port isn't livestreamed.

the little-known sixth stage, cringe
I'm definitely deep in the cringe stage, right now. I spent the month telling my friends Metroid Prime Switch would finally be shown. 🤡 Total headass territory. #JuneDirectGang, y'all... 🥲
