This mean a real Nintendo Direct will appear right?

Considering how much Nintendo has still coming this year, I'm not certain we really need a full direct yet. If their plan is splitting up the directs and announcements into smaller things over the next couple months, I'm personally quite ok with that.

My life doesn't revolve around needing to constantly get new games announced, so stuff like this doesn't bother me. If it is a partner direct, there could still be cool stuff shown off. If I get a date for Mario + Rabbids, then that will be a fantastic direct in my eyes. Even if nothing catches my fancy, I still have several games coming this year to look forward to.

I have more coming from Nintendo that I want to play this year than from Sony. After Horizon 2, the only other game coming this year that I want to play on the PS5 is Stray. It's tumbleweeds for miles for me in that direction.

I know personally, between Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, and Pokemon, I have more than enough to keep me busy for the rest of this year. I'm quite certain there are still a few games Nintendo has coming this year that they haven't announced. Eventually we'll find out what those are, even if it's not during a big event Direct where I don't care about 85-90 % of what is talked about.

That's just my personal thoughts on the matter though. Life is too short for me to get too bent out of shape over video games.
Well we used to get regular Directs even during the sad, lean days of the Wii U, when there were like two games a quarter to talk about. Or maybe it just felt like that. There must be at least enough in the second half of the year for the Switch that they could cull together a Direct if they wanted.

If E3 were a thing, they probably would've.

This day is approaching. This has soured me on giving any advance notice of a Direct broadcast, tbh.
its really sad how everything you say gets twisted to fit an agenda they wanna follow.
I wouldn't blame you. It doesn't seem like its worth it.

Companies have to pay Nintendo for space in the Direct, we know that. I'm pretty sure a Partner Direct is cheaper.
I would assume the companies showing up for this partners direct are rich enough to pay extra. I could be wrong, but I don't expect any small indie companies to be getting more than a reel regardless of whether it's a partners direct or a general.
General Directs will also generally be seen by more people, so they would make that money back and more eventually with game sales.

Ooooh, so it seems to be a Direct with mostly third party games? Sure, why not. Don’t get the negativity really. New shiny Nintendo announcements are always fun and I am wondering when more info on the Metroid Prime Remaster of Bayonetta 3 will appear, but you know, I’m down for third party one.

Looking at the release schedule, the Switch could use some more love from third parties and here’s hoping we’ll get a few cool nuggets. Because I don’t know about you guys, but some games appearing portable on Switch would be great. Most notable mentions;

  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
  • Persona ports
  • Arkham Asylum

Seems to get mentioned a lot. I’m guessing Nintendo thought it to be important to give the limelight to publisher partners with the releases. I kind of understand though; looking at the 2022 landscape on PS5/Xbox Series/PC its pretty rough and if Nintendo can offer a profitable eco system, why not? Every bit helps.
The Persona ports on Switch make so much sense. Watch Atlus not doing it though :(

What I want to say is that more fault of the people as a group than of individual people here.
Yes, I would agree. I was hoping on this particular site we could take some personal responsibility though. Nate for example, shouldn't have to take shit from people here because they hyped themselves up based on things he never said. I understand being disappointed, but how that disappointment turns to anger, then gets directed at members here is too much. I love being hyped, but 'hype culture' isn't worth getting nasty with each other over is all.

They don't want General Directs to be very long for whatever reason. At that point I don't know why.

Basically Nate is the only one saying a partner and airing on Tuesday however PH Brazil just reiterated that he’s been told it’s airing on Wednesday morning at 9am est but doesn’t know what type of presentation.

So what you're saying is the facts didn't change since I last checked fhe thread, the mood just did a 180. Ok. XD

The worst thing is people angry with other people not being as angry as them.

I still love you Nate. All joking aside, while I'm disappointed in this Direct possibly being a third party showcase, I still very much appreciate your efforts here on these forums, twitter and your podcast. You know how it is. People will be pissy for a week and then get over it and move on. It's best not to let the negativity consume you. Got to condition yourself to just ignore it really and keep doing what you do for those that appreciate it. We're all a bit negative of course, myself included but I still recognize that you have done the best you can with supplying information that you were aware of that wouldn't get you or your sources in trouble.

So once again, I offer my thanks and don't let this stuff bring you down. In the words of the famous Ash Williams; It's just pillow talk baby! ;)

You know what would do Direct for me? If Nintendo just tweeted days from now that "Tomorrow at 8AM new trailer for Sequel to BOTW will be shown" same thing they did in 2021 with Bowsers Fury, simple as that.

I gave up a long time ago, it surprises me you are only becoming sour now, has it ever been any different? I never liked Social Media but I really want to because I like to believe it will be different each time.

It isn't.

Imagine the reaction in this thread if Nate was somehow wrong about the branding and a general gets announced on Monday lol
Probably be better for him at this point to be wrong and us get a full general Direct than be right and get something smaller. People more likely to look past things if they get what they actually wanted.

This ia really sad!
I know lots are mad at the possibility of It being a partner (me included), but this is nothing related to you! I remember what happened to Kelios, poor guy.
Don' let the toxicity infiltrate your mind Nate. Focus on the people who like you, believe in you, and know that nothing of this is your fault. Like I said somedays ago, I was a lurker in Era, and I watched You, you are really a nice guy, but not because you give hints about games and events, but because you are really a nice person. I've never seen you being harsh with someone. You are one Nice of the nicest guys, I believe in that!

I totally get why they went that route in 2020 too. But I don’t see why that would still be the case this year.

I generally agree with all you’ve said. If I remember correctly, earlier this year Nintendo said they’d support E3. This was before cancellation obviously. So under a normal timeline we’d see a ‘Nintendo Direct E3 2022’.

Perhaps this E3 would have still strongly leaned towards third party offerings. Not sure. Regardless, without E3, Nintendo has decided to do things differently and whether or not this is actually at the expense of third parties is yet to be seen.

I guess the one question I still have is, why did Nate let the cat out of the bag when Alanah did? He said it was because his info had become public knowledge, but uh, that clearly isn’t true, considering Alanah heard about a Direct on the 29th, while Nate heard about one on the 28th

Maybe they are different timezones?

Honestly?

I do question the life priorities of people who can get legitimately mad over something like what is basically a glorified video game advertisement reel.

Yes I love speculating about Directs. I love getting hyped for them. But they don't play that huge of a role on my life that if I don't end up getting what I want, I start lashing out at people. I just... ya know. Move on. Live my life. Play some other games (y'alls backlog probably is as big as mine, lbr, if Nintendo didn't release a thing for 5 years I would still not be done with all of it so it's whatever).

And then I wait for the next Direct or announcement that interests me. It will happen eventually.

Just....don't be angry at people over something this trivial, I beg you.

I mean who in here is angry? If you mean social media then yeah of course. social media is always angry.

I try to approach with the condition of don't punish everyone for the actions of the few.
Nate, maybe you can do the usual teases, but just say you don’t know what kind of direct it is. Just say “a direct is coming”, then when we get 3-5 days from the direct date then you can hint what kind it is. By that point you’ll probably know the kind it is.

So people will only report you said a direct is coming.

Nintendo gamers be like "Ew, a Partner Showcase? Those always suck!" and then go play Monster Hunter Rise
Nintendo fans will never be satisfied unless they get something Zelda. The last Direct had FOUR big first party trailers and there were hundreds of tweets saying "That's it? Where is BotW?"

At least Partner Showcase gives a heads up for the Zelda absence so the Zelda crowd can get angry beforehand.

While waiting for the Direct, I started Xenoblade Chronicles 2 last night and have been playing that. What an amazing game that is. Really cool that we will be getting an entirely new one next month with an expansion next year and hey Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna will keep me busy alone for probably 100+ hours. Good stuff. :)

I did that this time. Speculated on my own behalf and still get assigned with claims I did not say.

a fine idea in theory but I just can see the people mentioning him via @ already asking him for clarification dozens of times.

Oh I wasn't addressing anyone in here in particular. I was just adding to the overall discussion. Idk if anyone in this thread was mad, it's moving too quickly for me to read anything. If anyone was/is, they know who they are. If there aren't any, then I'm not addressing them.

And yes Social Media is always angry. But two wrongs don't make a right, as they tend to say.

Dont be mad at Insiders

Be mad at Nintendo for sitting on a bunch of games, scheduling BOTW2 for Spring, and deciding to show us jack shit
Or you could stop being blinded by the internet, realize these are just games and a hobby and it's not that serious, and be mad at nobody.
