I actually don’t think announcing the mini ahead of time is out of the question

iirc, each partner showcase after the first(?) was announce prior. Maybe they realized announcing whatever it may be is better than shadow dropping

that was clearly bullshit, and one of jason's most embarrassing tweets, i think he ended up deleting it?
nothing about what was shown was out of the ordinary for the current hardware.
no one can convince me jason wasn't zippo

Mini directs aren’t that bad y’all need to chill. At least it’s something before the big September direct. They did this cause e3 was cancelled and figured oh well since e3 isn’t happening let’s do a smaller presentation instead after sgf do that we can show off some stuff before the September direct in like 2 and a half months

it's simple: i see a pro-train post, I Yeah! it. If I haven't Yeah!'d a pro-train post, it simply means I haven't seen it yet.

It's a foregone conclusion that Nintendo is doing something this week. Take solace in that, at the very least.
it'll all be over soon...

if it's just a mini and the mill starts back up right away I'm gonna have to step away from it for my health lmao

It's a Direct!! A General?! Mini?!, Dosen't matter, difference is just branding - but there is a difference!, What if Partner!? What if indie showcase, OR what if we get the hardware announcement?, But then what if just a new Switch Lite? - It's 1 2 Horses!!! It's AAAAAAAH

I love this thread

Plus Nintendo's marketing is running at full engines. There's loads of tweets and youtube video's every single day. They're pushing all the new titles like crazy and are advertising in all language on every thinkable platform, in theaters and with real life billboards and such.
I think they know they don't have to rely on a video presentation anymore.

I'm convinced this thread consists of a bunch of wild Pikmin that ended up trapped inside some kind of shroom cloud and went nuts!

Only the first and third Partners were announced ahead of time. The first Partners Showcase was the beginning of a new format (it was announced at damn midnight if I recall). The third one was heavily tied to Monster Hunter's reveal and it had a direct right after the showcase.

there's always at least one or two new first party announcements in a general direct. if it's a mini, i guess they don't have anything they want to reveal at this time, they could have shifted the announcements to september. i don't think it'll be a partner showcase tho, because they still have to reveal mario kart dlc, and i assume updated for strikers and switch sports. those are enough to turn a partner showcase into a mini.

This day is more hillarious than this fucking moment:

I hope the movie gets a metacritic score of exactly 97. Wanna hear some more "Nintendo gets treated differently because of nostalgia" or "If it was called Above Average Mario it wouldn't be rated so highly"

Was there ever a mini Direct that wasn't awful? Especially the last one in 2020 was really bad imo.

October for Metroid Prime still makes the most sense to me. The “announce in June, heavily market, release in October” strategy with Metroid Dread worked very well, so I could see them repeating that in an attempt to replicate its success with Prime.

I think if it is indeed a Mini, we should all at least uniformly appreciate the fact this moment in time will be looked at as one of the most Nintendo things ever done by Nintendo. And competition is tight because there are lots of those.

Here are all gaming companies going crazy during the month and spending a lot of money on flashy shows. And what's Nintendo's response? A tweet with a link to a ten-minute video.

Lots of speculation going through my head right now.

First on insiders. I’m just more confused now. Unless someone has seen the entire presentation, how could anyone know for certainty what type of direct it is? Like how Nate can’t really say either. I’m assuming they hear about specific games, which means SOMETHING is coming. But something seems to have changed with Nate in the last day.

Second of all, on Nintendo’s lineup itself. On one hand, having three games dated for H2 (Xenoblade, Splatoon and Pokémon) is more than we usually do, so in that train of thought, I suppose a general isn’t needed.

On the other, I don’t think that’s all Nintendo has for the holidays at all. We have Mario + Rabbids and Bayonetta still needing second showcases and dates. We have MPHD to be revealed. Now, maybe my expectations are low, but… there’s your opener, middle and closer for a general direct right there?Like those are all things coming in 2022. That need to be shown soon. So why go the route of the mini? A general is being handed to them on a silver platter. And that’s without even going into 2023 like they usually do at E3 time, AND assuming they don’t have anything ELSE to announce for the remainder of the year.

Last weekend I posted "this is going to be the longest week of my life"

Yesterday, I was surprised by how fast this week actually went by and how things are getting much closer.

Today, I feel like I just entered a Groundhog Day time loop that will last forever.

my personal tinfoil: the anticipated edit is because they're all starting to hear about hardware

September Direct should now be the best Direct ever in history of earth.
I wouldn’t quite jump to that conclusion yet, but it’s definitely possible. I want to see how next week and July goes. If no switch “pro” announcement in July then I’ll jump on September will probably be the best direct ever train.

i'm assuming there may have been plans for a full direct, but then they realized with a lineup like xeno 3, pokemon, splatoon 3, bayo 3, mario rabbids, etc. there's no rush to reveal more first party games at this point in time. tho it would have been nice if people didn't hype up a full direct for months and get people's hopes up.

If it's a Mini, what's gonna suck about it is that it will make the wait for September all the more excruciating. Would've been so sweet with some extra hype to tide us over.

Not that my gaming life lives and dies with Nintendo or anything. I'm just growing anxious over BotW2.
