A partner showcase could include:
  • Fire Emblem (Made by IS and KT)
  • Mario + Rabbids 2 (Made by Ubisoft)
  • Bayonetta 3 (Made by Platinum Games)
  • Advance Wars 1 + 2 (Made by WayForward(If they event feel comfortable showing it here))
and dare I even say it
- Kirby news (HAL was considered a "partner" in the October event)

Nintendo could simply choose not to do a general Direct to stick to their M.O. of not going along with Geoff's event, while still announcing everything that needs to be announced. The holiday lineup could easily be, FE, Splatoon 3, Bayo 3, M+R2, and AW 1+2. A partner showcase allows them to cover all of that, minus Splatoon 3, which will definitely just get its own Direct in a month or two. The only things missing here are DLC and updates, such as the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass, but I think we all know that could very easily be twitter dropped any day now.

Point is, while we have plenty of evidence to suggest a General Direct, there is a very VERY slim possibility we get a partner showcase, which could still be quite the banger on its own.
They're not gonna reveal a new mainline FE in a freaking partner Direct, lmao. 1) It's still a first party game, even if it's a collaboration with Koei Tecmo and 2) the big opening reveal in the last general Direct was a Fire Emblem.... spinoff. They're not revealing mainline FE in some crappy partner Direct that nobody is gonna watch, lol. Or any of those other games you listed. Partner Directs are dead, anyway.

after that xeno direct i don't expect another big story trailer like the 4chan rumor suggested. i can't imagine them showing another big trailer, unless it's a repeat.

tbh “mini direct about new hardware” is like, on my short list of possibilities for next week

not for 2024 tho lmao
Haha, I'm not necessarily that glum about new hardware being that far away; I'm just accounting for the monkey paw 😋 I'd be shocked if it still makes it for the end of the year, but I'm fully confident in a H1 2023 release.

Calling this a teaser trailer? 4chan leak vindicated clearly.

Hey Mondo, completely unrelated to your post here but something that's been rattling around my head re: NSO. You did the datamine of the N64 app that showed that list of 38 potential games, right? Out of curiousity, would a more recent datamine show where the games NSO has gotten since December fill out the gaps to better guess what could be coming in future releases?

It’s not like that 4chan leak holds any veracity

I am admittedly blindly confident that that thing is out before end of year. I feel it in my bones. But yeah, if not end of this year, definitely early next. We won't have to wait long.

I’m not ruling out a Xenoblade trailer next week still despite how comprehensive this amazing Direct was since not everyone watched it and they still can tease a returning character to excite the general audience.

I would gladly sacrifice every Direct planned for the rest of the year to summon Switch pro/2

Truly, can't wait to finally get some official sources on the next hardware. The announcement will give me more satisfaction than the actual hardware itself; I'm just tired of having this circular discussion with a friend who refuses to believe Switch is getting new hardware despite the overwhelming smoke lol

I did notice they were pretty on the nose with that leak so points toward validity of course it could still be exaggerated

If your friend is anything like a lot of people online, they’ll find a way to justify thinking they were still right and all of the smoke was “just guessing”

Oh, I don't doubt it, but if he doesn't think I'm about to be as insufferable as he's been for the last year and a half over my believing in Switch Pro since last year he's in for a rude awakening lmao

Nintendo should rename the Direct format to
Nintendo Despair....

If that happens a Nintendo Despair Mini would actually be a positive for us all because it means the despair after the show would be less extreme then after a Nintendo General Despair.

Also for everyone else on board of this emotional rollercoaster:

I wouldn't be surprised if they replay either of the trailers again.

Nintendo: The Switch is only half way through it's life.

Random people on the internet: You lie!!! The Switch only has one year left. Stop lying to us.

Nintendo: Announces content two years in advance

Random people: Shocked Pikachu
Why do you think my title has #TeamDecade? 😎

To be fair about Nintendo saying the switch is halfway through its life, they actually haven't said that since 2020. In 2021 they said it was in the "middle phase of its life cycle" which is much more vague but probably isn't supposed to mean literally half way, or they would have just said that. Technically anything between the beginning and end is in the "middle phase" so I wouldn't take it as confirmation that there's X years left.

So my theory is:
Nate saw what I said about blowing up the Future Hardware thread so their page count could re-overtake the Speculation thread, then said "shit I aughta get ahead of this" and messaged his buddy Andy Robinson and told him to tweet that so this thread would retain the crown.

What 4chan leak?

Wich Leak are you refaring?
The leak said we'd get a tweet announcing a 20 minutes long direct about XB3 tomorrow (from the post's original date) and it said we'd get another final story trailer for XB3 at the direct on the 29th. All easily could have been predicted but either case it doesn't really give us anything new about the direct itself. I don't believe it will be a mini or partner because neither make sense.

I’m gonna be honest I feel the exact same way, was just humouring the possibility since that seems to be the hot topic rn, thanks Andy:D

that's literally exactly what team partner is saying though
But why in the world would they have a partner direct right now with ZERO first party announcements? They have Mario Kart DLC tracks and Splatoon 3 (which will probably get a Direct of its own) slated for holiday of their own. The rest are affiliate developers. They have a huge window to fill and they publish a lot of stuff. There’s gotta be first party announcements.

Also lol very funny time for that post to post accidentally. “They have Mario”

Genuinely think it's more likely for a brand-new Direct subgenre to drop next week than an actual Partner showcase lmao

Also I didn't get to watch the Xenoblade 3 direct, how's the game looking?

Simply fantastic. Could be my game of the year from the looks of it and I am crazy about Sunbreak as well. :D

My overall take is that there is a reason they're doing something next week, and a reason they split Xenoblade from it.

The reason could be hardware, or it could be that it's a new type of partner showcase. But I feel very confident that there's a reason for the schedule that we don't yet understand.

Which is honestly pretty exciting in a way. As much as I want to see some heavy hitters, the reality is I'm too busy to play most of them at launch and already have the rest of my 2022 gaming time carved out for specific backlog and supposed new titles haha

It could be as simple as them wanting to show a lot of Xenoblade 3 but having no space for it in a regular Direct. I don't think there has to be some deeper meaning here.

You all want to ask Nate about the upcoming direct.

I want to ask him his opinions on XB3 post-direct and see which Hero character he likes the most currently!

We are not the same.
