That late uh... oh well, at least I can rest now and stop checking the first tweet of Nintendo to check if they say anything about the direct.

It makes me miss E3 even more: Geoff's SGF sucked (especially for Switch owners), everyones making their own "direct" even if they don't have anything that important to announce, the information on new releases it's all over the place and in different dates and now Nintendo is releasing it's direct at the end of the month. I know E3 isn't perfect because it can be more stressful for those that work in the industry and journalists, and i remember a few scandals regarding ESA but i miss having those 3/4 days dedicated for gaming news.

As for Nathan Drake and Emily (i'm not going to @ both of you because a lot of people do that), i just wanted to thank you both for doing what you do! i'm always happy when you bring these leaks and speculations, it's good for us to know something from an industry so secretive as these, specially with Nintendo (even though i understand their position and it's always a nice surprise when they reveal a game that nobody was expecting, releasing in a few months like Metroid Dread) and a lot of people here feel that way.

A later June Direct does make sense in that the last game in their H1 lineup will have been released by then (FE warriors) meaning that they'll have freed themselves up to talk about everything coming H2. And I think modern Nintendo don't want to have their games competing with each other these days. Do a direct, release as many games as possible from that direct before the next one, rinse and repeat. Cutting it slightly fine for any games that might release in August mind (maybe that's where Advance Wars got shifted to).

I'm sure Metroid Prime Demake will be there, as well as the acclaimed RPG
Golden Sun
that everyone loves and can't wait to play more of.

I mean in regards of being rude to member them having inside info or not. Just act like decent human beings that is it.

That said, the fact a direct will drop this month is great. Be it 15th, 22nd or 29th it will be around and that will be fun :D.

I should share the date to make people here feel joy? No.

I sat on the date because it can put partners in jeopardy. My contacts are more important that the small community of never satisfied, constantly angry, pessimistic folks that gather here. If someone else happens to leak the date, I can then confirm the date since the information is out there. There's nothing to protect.

Look at how many latched on to June 15 for the Direct. Did I? Nope. Why? Because it was never that date. If this window was wrong, then, I would have said it didn't match what I was hearing, too.

I've implied "late June" since May.

This forum has had members attack myself and Emily. Do you think we can't just leave or stopped sharing? Test us. You'll lose.
Ouch

I have a question regarding the date for @NateDrake or @Emily

In the last Kit&Krysta show they talked about their expectations for the next Nintendo Direct, and they talk explicitly about how Nintendo is clearly trying to distance themselves from Geoff’s Summer Game Fest. Is it true? What’s the reason? This info matches completely the late date of this Direct.

Thank you :) I appreciate very much every single little hint you give us.

Wish this direct was this week. Family got the 'vid and I managed to avoid it. But as a close contact I can't go to work for 5 days. Gimme that direct!

Does anyone think we will see a brand new big Ninty game for 2022 revealed at this event or are we pretty sure what we are getting already is it and any new games will be 2023?

I still think Fire Emblem can't be ruled out for this year. And not sure if Metroid Prime remake counts, but that too.

I think that this rumored new FE is a possibility for late 2022.

I would bet on a new casual game release slated for later this year.

EDIT: I forgot about Metroid Prime HD, which is a heavily rumored game for late 2022 and i think we will see it.

No one here pointed this out, but someone on ERA pointed out that Kit and Krysta straight up say Nintendo specifically does not want to be associated at all with Summer Game Fest and has their “reasons” for not doing so. Which I guess makes the late June window make sense.

At 12:08 (I don’t know how to timestamp lol)

I’m guessing it’s a perception thing. They know that Geoff’s shows are fairly lame and they don’t wanna be thrown in with the Twitter mockery?

Or the relationship between Geoff and Nintendo straight up expired after Reggie left.

Can the owners of this board seriously consider harsh consequences of people who actually do attack insiders especially @NateDrake and @Emily who I have respected and followed for years. It's what brings the excitement and joy into these forums and no one and I mean no one knows what's happening behind our closed doors so having these people come in and make us forgot about the shit that happens in the real world has done wonders, for myself especially. They should never be attacked and I'm sick to death of this happening on so many boards time after time after time.

It's not acceptable and never has been.

Would be funny if Nintendo of all companies didn't want to be associated with SGF because of some weird loyalty to E3 and ESA because Geoff has been positioning it as a competing event.

I wonder if Nintendo changes any plans in response to leaks like this? Like maybe just forgoing the announcement? I always attributed that one Direct Mini (I think?) that was dropped without announcement to it being leaked. Maybe that's just how Nintendo handles Minis though?

If there is a new Fire Emblem this year then a later Direct does make sense so Fire Emblem Warriors doesn't eat its lunch, or vice versa. Metroid Prime in H2 (maybe October like Dread was) could also work, maybe with a teaser for 4 if that's coming in 2023. We still also need Bayonetta 3 dated.

I'm thinking maybe Bayonetta 3 late September after Splatoon 3, Metroid Prime in October, Pokemon in November, and a new Fire Emblem in December (or maybe early 2023). Room for a family friendly game in October/November as well if Nintendo have one up their sleeve.

I totally agree.

Agreed. The vile comments that folks in the industry received on GAF and ERA should stay there.

I agree on the attack front, but being skeptical should not be considered an attack, just to be clear, at least imo

This. Skepticism is healthy, but there’s never a reason to be rude and accusatory over this stuff. I don’t understand how something as trivial as the date of an ad reel for consumer media ends up with anything other than lighthearted humour and jokey resignation. Sure, people look forward to it, and it can be great to know something cool is coming, and it can suck when that doesn’t work out.

Thing is, you can be sceptical or disappointed and still be friendly and polite over it. It’s when people start tagging others, start putting together one-sided lists of all the rumours that didn’t work out (conveniently ignoring the ones that did), start getting personal over it as if it’s anything important or some great conspiracy. It’s just ridiculous at that point.

I like this community a lot. It’s pleasant, friendly and lighthearted over inconsequential stuff most of the time. But I’ve got no time for people who think the date of a direct, or any other rumour about video games, means they get to be an ass over it. Anyone doing that doesn’t represent a community I want to be part of.

I mean in the end it is your decision but why sharing things anyway? As much as I enjoy hearing some rumors, is it really worth when people here (talking about me too to some extend) are immediately spinning their own narrative and jump to conclusions, only that some get angry at insiders because stuff dosen‘t line up as they imagined.

Any member of this board who gets attacked by other posters ought to be handled appropriately by the mods and admins, known leaker/insider or not. Nate and Emily are mature adults and don’t need any sort of special protection in this regard.

And as Nate implies, they hold the cards in this. If they don’t feel welcome here then they leave. Simple as that. Having them here is a privilege our community shares, not a right. We are not entitled to the information they’re willing to drop to keep things interesting.

Even with the above, people should just be respectful to one another. It’s totally reasonable to disagree with someone or how they handle themselves. But being nasty and combative is just uncalled for. If you’re feeling the need to do that, just step away for a couple days, clear your head and relax a bit.

Because at the end of the day, does it really matter that much if our highly anticipated corporate marketing event is two weeks later than we collectively expected? Does it really matter if someone heard one thing from a source and then plans changed or that source had outdated info? Does it really matter if you know what’s coming before it gets announced?

It’s worth it because luckily not all people are like that.
When I heard about a new FE from Nate I was excited. I was so disappointed when in the last direct they announced FEW instead, but it’s not like I started harassing people because they “said something different”
The only thing that I did was asking if he heard about FEW as well or if the FE he heard about was indeed FEW and his info wasn’t incomplete. Stop. Even if he would have said something like “Yeah, it was Warriors” (just to avoid people misunderstanding, he DIDN’T say this) I would have not harassed him.

If someone can’t be civil enough, then it’s their fault, not Nate’s or Emily’s or whoever else.

I’m soooooooo hyped 😭 I hope it gets announce in this direct because the waiting is killing me lmao
I think it's definitely getting announced this month since the Direct is happening AFTER Three Hopes releases. Perfect timing to announce without overshadowing Three Hopes.

I was hoping the direct would be the 22nd since that’s my bday but oh well 29th is fine I’m still on vacation then so I can just eat snacks all day and watch the direct

Okay, the Direct is at the end of the month, which is fine but I don't get why they are doing Direct so close to release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, let it some time to breathe man, Nintendo what are you thinking.

The way some people talk about NATE and Emily's insights aren't skepticism however, it's often quite personal and selectively points out things they got wrong and ignores the weight of things they got right.

Some people just have this laser focus on the wrong things they guessed and seemingly puts them on the same tier as fake insiders who leech off Nate and Emily to look good on twitter.

In anycase, the hostility towards forum insiders who aren't obligated to do anything for us and is right more often than not is strange. It's clear that for some, it goes beyond being skeptical, but they've made it quite personal.

Wait, what are her info?
The main differences from Nate:
next FE is not being made by the Three Houses team but is a collab between IS and Gust who are assisting with visuals
No mention of the red/blue and returning characters stuff.
Also an FE4 remake being made fully internally at IS(not sure if Nate corroborates this part or not)

Wow, I fully ignored the fact but a Direct on the 29th also evaporates the pattern of a 1st half of the month Directs being the absolute norm.

If someone can’t be civil enough, then it’s their fault, not Nate’s or Emily’s or whoever else.
Oh it is certainly not the fault of those two, I never wanted to imply that. I just have respect for them that they are strong enough to go trough this never ending cycle of dissatisfaction, because I don‘t think I could.

Oh okay
Well, we will see when we will get the reveal

Tbh I don’t care about the details, I just want it already. And I’m happy that a remake is also “confirmed” (also Nate talked about it I think?)

Oh yeah I wasn’t attack you or think that you were one of the people that thinks like that! I was only explaining why they keep doing what they do ✨
