Hey maybe Nintendo does the two weeks notice and it comes this week. I wonder why Alanah decided to announce this now. Maybe there’s something more here for her timing.

HOLY FUCK whoever mentioned St. Elmo's Fire the other day was fucking spot on. Was it @Skittzo???
Twas I. Honestly thought it was kind of an obvious hint but I couldn't really figure out how the date it tied into.
I saw that post and thought people would look into it but no one commented on it much.

Funny enough, I used the movie's tagline in a post, too. That was another hint but I knew it was too obscure to be caught.

Funny enough I saw that date and thought it couldn't possibly be what you meant because it was too late. Also been dealing with too much at home to really dive into it.

Also I assumed it was referring to St. Elmo's Fire the phenomenon, not the movie so I didn't look into the movie too much.

I'm dreaming big, my cacao and vehicle-themed friend. 2D and 3D Mario. Pikmin guest-starring Chibi-Robo. Nintendo Land. Pushmo. Donkey Kong. Grezzo. Good-Feel. Sonic and Mario platformer. Captain Toad sequel where you can play as Spike. Yoshi's Flipping Island. Brand new 2D Zelda. Professor Layton and Zack & Wiki revivals.
I like these ambitious dreams.

Wild that I missed these because I was just reading about the movie recently, looking at some of the movie posters and learning about how this specific film inspired decades of live action Japanese TV series (for real).

unless there is some major game mechanic or game mode we don't know about in splatoon 3 i kinda hope they don't take too much time on it

I think the biggest things that could realistically happen here are announcing another 2D Zelda remake or a short teaser but no release date for Metroid Prime 4.

On the other hand, Nintendo's putting out a game where you mow down a shit ton of other humans with swords in less than two weeks.
It's obvious what my retort would be here but I don't want to get into this argument because it would just derail the thread. I'll just leave it as it's my opinion that the footage SGF showed isn't stuff you associate with Nintendo.

Honestly, the date makes sense being late June and I feel the timing makes us seeing whatever the new Fire Emblem game is being that much higher. Nintendo lets Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes have a few days of being released to get in the early sales, remind people that it came out last week and then segue into a new Fire Emblem game trailer in a direct the following week. I figure they want to allow for that game to have a tiny bit of breathing room which is smart.

Since Nintendo had previously recapped the launch of Mario 3D World+Bowser's Fury in early 2021 since the direct was 4 days after it launched (where they did a mini mario segment with the Animal Crossing Mario content showcase followed by a reminder that Bowser's Fury just launched). I feel like Nintendo usually tries to let games have some breathing room. Also another case is we had NSMB U Deluxe revealed in September for January release, a month later (after the game launched)** they reveal Mario Maker 2. Nintendo loves revealing other games in their franchises shortly after the prior one comes out so that the games don't get overshadowed prior to releasing the games.

Like I can see Kimishima or whoever have a segment mentioning how they had their launch of Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes on June* 24th (I need sleep. Why did my brain say July lol) and then mentioning that he hopes that fans are looking forward to the next entry in the Fire Emblem series and then just shifts into a trailer for said game (be it the remake from IS or the next new mainline that the team behind FE 3 Houses).

surprised that it seems most people here in the US have heard the 29th though Nate heard the 28th and suspects it's a timezone thing. My best guess is something like noon on the 28th, would be the 29th in japan, would leave time for a treehouse stream afterwards and would have all of that done before the investor meeting

Goddammit yall

My eggs leaked the Direct date and I didn't even understand until now

I think another factor is that nobody really thought it would come that late, so any interpretation of a hint that pointed that way was likely discarded

Why is everyone coming out right now saying that they knew of the 28th/29th date?
a) feeling more confident, now that they now somebody else they belive heard the same
b) did not want to spoil it, but since its already out there they can confirm it

Huh. Had I seen "June-ish" I would've immediately thought end of June. Never saw that but apparently Nate gave it. Why did everyone think mid-June then? Or even 22nd? Confused now.

I don't think Alannah Pearce actually knows what she did xD. In the stream she seemed to think the date was already announce, can't imagine her reaction once she sees all the youtube videos and tweets talking about the 29th

We need to bring E3 back so Nintendo will get in line with the rest of the big three and host their event the same week as everyone else.
There is something nice about the schedule that had been set for years. I don’t think they would go to the in person SGF. E3 is a definite since they were a founding member of the ESA (or at least I think), so they have some loyalty to show. Let’s hope it’s back
