I do wonder what Geoff and Nintendo relationship is? They haven’t made any announcement at a Keighley show since Sephiroth.
I was watching summer games fest and like 80% of the games were games where you were shooting other humans or human looking life forms. So maybe they just don't want to be deeply associated with that branding.

Gotta have it the same day as the shareholders meeting since they'll be announcing the Switch 2 obviously.

Prior hints was the oddly out of place question of being later than usual in my poll & soonish -- a term I use when something is more than 2 weeks out, June-ish was a hint due to the close vicinity to July.

That’s how I first took your poll then I let the evil non believers suck me in to earlier dates. 😡

Am I the only one a little sad there won't be anymore doom posting? It's almost as good as the Direct itself.
It's alright, now we can move on to doomposting about the Direct content

Ex: "Nintendo won't show anything new, they're just going to detail games we already know about"

Okay, if it's truly not happening until after FEW Three Hopes releases, then I'm pretty convinced that we could see the next mainline FE at this Direct. The question remains: will it be 2022, or early 2023?

I saw that post and thought people would look into it but no one commented on it much.

Funny enough, I used the movie's tagline in a post, too. That was another hint but I knew it was too obscure to be caught.
I truly meant to investigate and then work consumed me into a black hole where I couldn't focus on anything else haha. Extra fun fact (and embarrassing for me to not have investigated further) is that my current boss of 2 years worked as Joel Schumacher's assistant for many years before becoming a writer-director-producer.

I can't believe you beat me to that one

So with the date seemingly settled possibly maybe, what sort of software reveals are we expecting? I feel like aside from MP4/MP-remaster I can't imagine what new stuff might be announced. Surely they won't do a big June Direct and have it mostly by dates for already-announced games.
For reveals specifically, I think the rumored games are in, Metroid Prime HD and New Fire Emblem. Bolder picks I think we get our first look at Metroid Prime 4 and the next Mario platformer. I think there are one or two games I can’t easily/confidently pick like an F-Zero revival, Pikmin 4, new Fortune Street etc.

In terms of what is reasonable to expect at this direct
Already announced games detailed (Xenoblade, Splatoon, etc.)
BotW 2 footage, but probably not a huge dump which would likely get its own presentation
Updates for recent games (switch sports, mario party, mario strikers)
Donkey Kong
Metroid prime remake
Windwaker HD

All of this would probably take up most of the direct along with the usual third party stuff.

I’m curious if this is going to be a bit longer and feature a ~10/15 minute segment that would be the equivalent of a standalone Xeno 3 direct

btw, as some other said, being just after 3 Hopes release, I’m sure the next FE will be unveiled there. There is a chance that its the opening announcement.

Don’t loose faith on Persona 3P/4G/5R ports to Switch.

Futhermore, I expect they will close with Metroid and Zelda combo.

Legit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
Honestly not sure. There doesn't seem to be much smoke around hardware currently, from what I can tell, but it's not like I've got my ear to the ground.

It could simply be the end of the month suits Nintendo's marketing plans more - both their June releases would be out and there's another 4 weeks before Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which leaves plenty of time for Direct hype to settle down and for news to spread.

I guess yeah, they could announce hardware and then use the presentation for software to show that all models of the Switch are getting support; but I'm not placing any certainty on it.

If anything, it's more likely Splatoon 3 would get such treatment.

I forgot how much of a cesspool the comments section of GamingLeaksAndRumours can be, still hanging onto "UUUH NATE GOT SWITCH PRO WRONG" thing instead of trying to comprehend the phenomenon of maaaaaaaybe multiple Switch SKU's being in development and maaaaaaaybe sources telling Nate and Bloomberg info from both SKU's and maaaaaaaaybe it's possible people get stuff mixed up???

It's like they never think about "Huh, this guy got 2D Metroid right like, WAY in advance"

Jesus Tapdancing Christ

Nate was seriously spending days like "oh god none of them are getting the reference, not even that movie nerd Chocolate Soup guy. Let me just explain the goddamn joke now"
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Kit and Krystal maybe implied that Nintendo trying to stay away from Geoff for some "reason", but maybe just my imagination though.

I don't. Maybe this week if they want to do two weeks of notice.
Right. They did two weeks notice last year when E3 was online only. Without E3 I wonder if they’ll do the same this year. To me it also depends on if they do a Treehouse and they’ll want people to know early.

Wow amazing. What a way for all of this to come together.

Also we got any Indianapolis people? You should hit up St. Elmo's Steakhouse to celebrate.
I am, and St. Elmo’s Steakhouse is pretty great, though just a tip, the 1933 Lounge is an attached bar that serves a lot of the same food (including the famous shrimp cocktail), but you don’t need a reservation for it.

I don’t think so personally. I still feel the whole point of this year is to assure people the first Switch has a lot of life left in it. I think big new hardware (gen 2 Switch), if it is announced this year, will be announced outside of a Direct so they can have a separate video showing select software running better on it as well as exclusive software.

The moment they pull the trigger on new hardware, people are going to really be wondering when they see extra great looking games what it will look like on the original hardware if it runs at all. I think there where will be a big cross gen period this time, so deciding when to start that process is super important.

Oh yeah, there is also the case we got 5-10 minute showcase of both games, there are the next big titles nintendo will release this summer. Both will release before september direct.

Also don’t sleep on Bayo 3, as said before, I think its next Nintendo big title after splat 3 (late september) and we don’t know too much info, so its possible we get a trailer around 4-5 minutes.

I totally agree with you but also would like to point out if a switch pro is coming by early next year, they really do need to announce it in the next 2 months or so, or it will leak anyway from parts orders and all that.

I'm dreaming big, my cacao and vehicle-themed friend. 2D and 3D Mario. Pikmin guest-starring Chibi-Robo. Nintendo Land. Pushmo. Donkey Kong. Grezzo. Good-Feel. Sonic and Mario platformer. Captain Toad sequel where you can play as Spike. Yoshi's Flipping Island. Brand new 2D Zelda. Professor Layton and Zack & Wiki revivals.

I just think that they figured that they don‘t really need any big announcements at shows they‘ve less control on who the target group is or how the audience will react. Directs or their Social Media Channels in general are probably that huge by now to have all news there. Even the mario movie or their theme park apparently. It isn‘t even Nintendo alone doing this, Sony has a very similar approach.

Even though the direct will be after Three Hopes is releasing I’m still going with my gut that it doesn’t get announced until September.

with 28th / before shareholder meeting back on the table, I’m all in for new hardware before or on the day.

i can just see the MVG post: ‘prepare for disappointment’

Forget about games, everyone. Now we need to speculate about the day of the September Direct.

Seriously, though, just give me the Silksong date, Nintendo.

People have a very weird obsession with wanting Nintendo to be part of Summer Game Fest. It's like people decided that Summer Game Fest was THE summer game show that Nintendo must be a part of even though Sony isn't and Microsoft barely is. His shows haven't really been that spectacular either. This year's SGF came and went.

Also Geoff is not a replacement for the ESA who hosts E3. The ESA is a trade organization composed of the biggest publishers. It puts on E3 but it also oversee the ESRB and lobbies on behalf of the game industry. Geoff is just a guy putting on a show twice a year. The relationship isn't even comparable.
