Elmo on fire was a hint referring to St. Elmo's Fire, which released on June 28. The date is either June 28 or June 29 but could just be a timezone thing.
I was watching summer games fest and like 80% of the games were games where you were shooting other humans or human looking life forms. So maybe they just don't want to be deeply associated with that branding.I do wonder what Geoff and Nintendo relationship is? They haven’t made any announcement at a Keighley show since Sephiroth.
Don't give me hope....Legit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
That’s how I first took your poll then I let the evil non believers suck me in to earlier dates.Prior hints was the oddly out of place question of being later than usual in my poll & soonish -- a term I use when something is more than 2 weeks out, June-ish was a hint due to the close vicinity to July.
It's alright, now we can move on to doomposting about the Direct contentAm I the only one a little sad there won't be anymore doom posting? It's almost as good as the Direct itself.
very little since it's not that kinda shareholders meetingLegit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
Basically the next part of the cycleIt's alright, now we can move on to doomposting about the Direct content
Ex: "Nintendo won't show anything new, they're just going to detail games we already know about"
Yep, also featuring classic hits likeBasically the next part of the cycle
Borderline doom posting about the announcement for possibly 2 weeks.Am I the only one a little sad there won't be anymore doom posting? It's almost as good as the Direct itself.
Seems like we would be hearing about such a thing if it were being announced in 2 weeksLegit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
I saw that post and thought people would look into it but no one commented on it much.HOLY FUCK whoever mentioned St. Elmo's Fire the other day was fucking spot on. Was it @Skittzo???
Do you have any ideas when the direct will be announced?I saw that post and thought people would look into it but no one commented on it much.
Funny enough, I used the movie's tagline in a post, too. That was another hint but I knew it was too obscure to be caught.
I truly meant to investigate and then work consumed me into a black hole where I couldn't focus on anything else haha. Extra fun fact (and embarrassing for me to not have investigated further) is that my current boss of 2 years worked as Joel Schumacher's assistant for many years before becoming a writer-director-producer.I saw that post and thought people would look into it but no one commented on it much.

There’s gonna be the tweet were people think nothing beyond 2022 will be shown to look forward to.Am I the only one a little sad there won't be anymore doom posting? It's almost as good as the Direct itself.
For reveals specifically, I think the rumored games are in, Metroid Prime HD and New Fire Emblem. Bolder picks I think we get our first look at Metroid Prime 4 and the next Mario platformer. I think there are one or two games I can’t easily/confidently pick like an F-Zero revival, Pikmin 4, new Fortune Street etc.I can't believe you beat me to that one
So with the date seemingly settled possibly maybe, what sort of software reveals are we expecting? I feel like aside from MP4/MP-remaster I can't imagine what new stuff might be announced. Surely they won't do a big June Direct and have it mostly by dates for already-announced games.
I don't. Maybe this week if they want to do two weeks of notice.Do you have any ideas when the direct will be announced?
Honestly not sure. There doesn't seem to be much smoke around hardware currently, from what I can tell, but it's not like I've got my ear to the ground.Legit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
If anything, it's more likely Splatoon 3 would get such treatment.I’m curious if this is going to be a bit longer and feature a ~10/15 minute segment that would be the equivalent of a standalone Xeno 3 direct
btw, as some other said, being just after 3 Hopes release, I’m sure the next FE will be unveiled there.
Don’t loose faith on Persona 3P/4G/5R ports to Switch.
No fucking way roflElmo on fire was a hint referring to St. Elmo's Fire, which released on June 28. The date is either June 28 or June 29 but could just be a timezone thing.
I do wonder what Geoff and Nintendo relationship is? They haven’t made any announcement at a Keighley show since Sephiroth.
Right. They did two weeks notice last year when E3 was online only. Without E3 I wonder if they’ll do the same this year. To me it also depends on if they do a Treehouse and they’ll want people to know early.I don't. Maybe this week if they want to do two weeks of notice.
I'm so ashamed in us, @Josh5890, and @DecoReturns, the thread's self-proclaimed movie buffs lmaoJesus Tapdancing Christ
Nate was seriously spending days like "oh god none of them are getting the reference, not even that movie nerd Chocolate Soup guy. Let me just explain the goddamn joke now"
I am, and St. Elmo’s Steakhouse is pretty great, though just a tip, the 1933 Lounge is an attached bar that serves a lot of the same food (including the famous shrimp cocktail), but you don’t need a reservation for it.Wow amazing. What a way for all of this to come together.
Also we got any Indianapolis people? You should hit up St. Elmo's Steakhouse to celebrate.
I don’t think so personally. I still feel the whole point of this year is to assure people the first Switch has a lot of life left in it. I think big new hardware (gen 2 Switch), if it is announced this year, will be announced outside of a Direct so they can have a separate video showing select software running better on it as well as exclusive software.Legit talk though. What are the chances this is lining up with a new Switch announcement around the shareholder date?
Oh yeah, there is also the case we got 5-10 minute showcase of both games, there are the next big titles nintendo will release this summer. Both will release before september direct. If anything, it's more likely Splatoon 3 would get such treatment.
I totally agree with you but also would like to point out if a switch pro is coming by early next year, they really do need to announce it in the next 2 months or so, or it will leak anyway from parts orders and all that.I don’t think so personally. The moment they pull the trigger on new hardware, people are going to really be wondering when they see extra great looking games what it will look like on the original hardware if it runs at all. I think there where will be a big cross gen period this time, so deciding when to start that process is super important.
saw that on twitter an hour ago and I immediately knew this thread would explodeI just watched the clip of Alanah. She’s literally like “let me check my notes, yep it’s June 29th” Lmaoo
I'm dreaming big, my cacao and vehicle-themed friend. 2D and 3D Mario. Pikmin guest-starring Chibi-Robo. Nintendo Land. Pushmo. Donkey Kong. Grezzo. Good-Feel. Sonic and Mario platformer. Captain Toad sequel where you can play as Spike. Yoshi's Flipping Island. Brand new 2D Zelda. Professor Layton and Zack & Wiki revivals.I can't believe you beat me to that one

I just think that they figured that they don‘t really need any big announcements at shows they‘ve less control on who the target group is or how the audience will react. Directs or their Social Media Channels in general are probably that huge by now to have all news there. Even the mario movie or their theme park apparently. It isn‘t even Nintendo alone doing this, Sony has a very similar approach.I do wonder what Geoff and Nintendo relationship is? They haven’t made any announcement at a Keighley show since Sephiroth.
