5 minutes in the first episode of the third season of The Boys.

Its hilarious that the series that constantly makes fun of how corporate and soulless the super hero industry is, is by far the best super hero series.

Also ''BUT THE FOURTH REICH IS IN MY SOUL'' killed me. Easily marvel or dc one liner.

Can't you just change your NAT type on the router?
Unfortunately no, I've tried a lot of things but according to my ISP my 5G router can't do better than that, it's a known problem that they can't fix

I think I'm beginning to get some kind of grasp on Elden Ring. Like I have some sense of how to navigate the world and have returned to beat some bosses I previously died to in a matter of seconds.

Nier freaking rules. Such poignant narratives and excellent setup of characters that will win your heart, and both games (now) have great gameplay. Love that series so much.

I'm pretty new to the series.. what are more seasoned fans feeling as far as getting a third entry? Chances good or bad or..?

Just randomly thinking about what a banger year 2019 was. In a several month stretch we had Mario Maker 2, Cadence of Hyrule, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Pokemon Sword and Shield. And there was other stuff smattered in between like Ultimate Alliance 3, Dragon Quest 11S, Daemon X Machina, and Smash Bros Ultimate DLC.

They say they had "Big plans for Nier" a couple of years ago. We got Replicant and Reincarnation, but maybe they were referring to projects further down the line.

But I'm hesitant after Reincarnation. That game was something completely different, so if there's a new project in the works, I'd not be as hyped if it was something along those lines, as opposed to a mainline entry with Taro heavily involved.

It's over since Yoko Taro will only continue it if he's given a lot of money and Square Enix is investing all of their cash into NFTs.

It's almost guaranteed, they were hiring for new Nier projects a while ago
I shouldn't lol at this
But I will 🤣

Yeah I'd definitely want Taro involved in a mainline sequel. Nier without Taro would be like Sonic without Naka. 😬

I love Replicant so much. Fantastic game with its only big fault being the fact you have to replay the second half like 4 times >.>

Automata is solid too. Amazing gameplay.....when you're not hacking with 9S (I really disliked this)

And things like Ring Fit Adventure, and Tetris 99, too.

Everybody's been demanding 2017-2 but I want 2022 to be 2019-2. Could easily head that way - the release calendar is picking up in June/July like it did in 2019. We just need the June Direct to finish the job...

eyyyyy here's some weekend levity

New sound sketch for Grögol Bonanza! This is a gym-leader-equivalent fight with a very confused and earnest pal named Zilch. He is plagued by ghosts. The first time you meet, he is chained upside down in Nimlok the Stinky Wizard's basement.

Some of the licks in here are transliterated from Danse Bacchanale by Saint-Saëns, as that's one of the many ghosts that haunts Zilch's real-life equivalent. It's public domain, but we'll see if it makes the final cut. Those bits were sort of the jumping-off point.

That bass, though? That's alllllll Suswave.

There is a third Nier game in development internally at Square Enix.

And honestly I'm not sure how to feel about Nier without Platinum, the gameplay was instrumental to making the game.

Nier without Platinum sounds like sadness. But hopefully Square can, like, copy them real good. 😅

I started playing MH Stories 2 and i'm enjoying it so far. The battle system is cool imo, the artstyle is really pretty... performance could be better, but definitely not the worst i've seen on Switch. Curious to see how the story will unfold. For now, a charming game.

I will never look at Ant-Man the same way again >_>

I leave for Poland tomorrow and stay there for two weeks. Kinda excited but also nervous as hell lol

Yeah, and you have to replay parts of the first half for Ending E in ver 1.22 ... which sucks a bit because Ending E is SO GOOD!

It finally happened. I played Switch Sports and my JoyCon flew right out of my hand and across the room in the midst of a Badminton match. I finally got what I h*cking deserved, Nintendo. I am sorry.

but aces i literally one of the best Mario sports games
Some people love it. I don't think there's been a really good Mario's Tennis game since Open on 3DS (which I also think is arguably the best Mario Sports game rather than Aces, at least out of all the tennis ones).

I much preferred Super Rush's SP story to Aces, and the course design and variety in SR is wonderful.

Aces feels barebones by comparison, and I prefer the metagame of Open by leaps and bounds. I especially love that in Open, not shooting a special shot while standing on a special shot logo adds that final dimension to figuring out what your opponent will choose to do.

Aces is just super-dull to me by comparison. To each their own, of course!

Anyone want to distract me from the horde of colonisers celebrating 70 years of sweet fuck all?
Not sure if it is your thing, but I am a collector of strange/exotic/forgotten music. I just discovered Dick Contino and the next few weeks I am going to every record store in my vincinity to buy every Dick Contino record I can find. You could use his awesome vibes to blast out the noise of the celebration:

Tennis on 3DS is the best Mario sports game? Wow. I played it for around ten hours and was bored out of my mind the entire time. It felt like there was no strategy whatsoever, just volley back and forth until you see the big color icon telling you which special shot to hit. To each their own!

Oh no! I hope everyone (and everything) is ok! I admit, I'm too lazy to get the wrist strap out whenever I'm playing Switch Sports. I just think that it'll never happen to me.

(sorry had to make this lol. Also, I know that is a Wii Mote but it is the perfect photo :D)

In any tennis game, there is innate strategy in baiting your opponent or setting them up to be unable to return a shot. Every Mario('s) Tennis game, from the Virtual Boy original to Aces, has that.

I think the super shot spot is far more interesting than a super shot meter because you can bait human opponents by positioning yourself over the spot and then doing something else. Hitting a drop shot instead of a bendy ball when your opponent has backed up to the baseline in expectation that you'd just super-shot your return is incredibly satisfying. The meta-game feels wayyyyy more layered to me than in Aces. I get why people like Aces, but I definitely think it's a game that is more about being able to master the mechanics than it is about baiting and setting up your opponent. Not that there's none of that there, but the super shot is OP in Aces in a way that even the overhead smash in Open or other tennis games is not, so everything revolves around it to (I would argue) the detriment of the game.

It’s so interesting how divisive the Mario sports games are, I guess it really comes down to what you’re looking for in them.

Strikers is a home run for charm, animation and quality. But, seems to have a skill floor turning folks off in the initial demo.

Aces and Super Rush take massive risks with the core mechanics of the series, attracting new fans but also turning off existing ones. Likewise they both lack visual polish and charm.

I thought Tennis Open was nearly universally hated but even that has it’s fans for reasons I now see.

Oh and of course then there’s baseball, the golden child. It’s perfect.

We do need another Mario Baseball for the culture. That and a new 3-on-3 basketball (bring it in-house, I guess).

Actually, we might need the latter more than the former because Super Mega Baseball fills the gap for the former, but Playgrounds is mid and no one else is really doing arcade basketball like that.
